Word around LG and cal radio is that Mitch wanted to bring Lin to the Lakers before the Knicks picked him up, but Kobe and DFish vetoed it, thinking they should save the roster spot for a bigman.

Why don't people understand that he would not be playing the way he is playing now on the Lakers where he'd probably rarely have the ball
IGOTGAME

he wouldn't even play well this with LA regardless. It's not like no one has ever seen him play before. He is in a great situation and making the best of it, wouldn't be the same in LA where he isn't handling the ball 25% as much as he does in NY.

This sounds like something a radio host would make up after maybe hearing something about LA considering picking Lin off of waivers. Even if for some reason it was true (doubtful- why would Kobe and Fish being giving input on a 13th to 15th player? Is LA's management that horrible and powerless?) would some radio shows be the ones to report it.
What was the last story broken by a radio personality?

Kobe said he meet & knew who the kid was. What Kobe brushed off (which i think he was lying) was that he didn't know Lin was tearing up the league those past 3 games before they played.

When did Fisher and Kobe start getting consulted about personnel decisions? If that were happening, do you really think Odom would have been traded away?
This is a dumb thread.

Kobe didn't want to be the 2nd option

02-14-2012, 05:16 AM
Why is this so hard to believe? It sounds plausible; Kobe and Fisher are butt buddies with Odom making it into a sandwich orgy. With Odom gone, why would Kobe support someone who is better than Fisher and push him back to bench warmer? Kobe didn't even want Chris Paul (it was all Mitch's hard on) because it would push him back as #2 and Fisher picking up trash minutes.
Is it factual? We don't know. But quite plausible.

02-14-2012, 05:28 AM
the real story. OP is following an idiots made up story.
It is quite plausible considering how close Kobe is to Fisher. It wouldn't even matter to him if Fisher is 48 years old and bouncing the ball with his right hand and holding a cane with his left. The fact the Lakers had an interest in Lin (meaning Mitch saw potential) and then drawing back on the interest shows internal dialogue had a say in all of this. Why else would they NOT take Lin? He's cheap; they need a young guard to develop; Steve Blake is a hogwash; and Mitch saw something in that kid. THEY HAD NOTHING TO LOSE so the fact they drew back on the potential prob has something to do with the opinions of Kobe and Fisher, who btw are the most vocal Lakers on the team.
Kobe has proven to be an egoist and that does not include himself but extends to his sexual partners as well.
Throw in Kobe's jealously of the Chris Paul possible signing and it makes the argument a bit more true.
This is plausible.

Gotta point out, even if Lakers put in a waiver claim to Lin, the Knicks still would've beaten them out because they had a worse record last year.

The Lakers didn't even consult Kobe when they hired brown, tried trading for paul, or traded odom away. why would they consult him about a signing?
Did Kobe do this before or after he called up Dwight to tell him he sucked?

It seems like a fact that many teams passed on Lin, that doesn't imply Lakers were one of them, neither that Kobe and Fisher were the ones vetoing him... if you bring a proof you'll have a fact, if you bring a rumor you'll have a discussion.

The fact that Kobe openly wanted a different coach than Brown and was upset when he was selected pretty much hammers a nail into the coffin for this bullshit rumor. Plus who the fvck would have any opinion on Lin before last week? He was just some random-ass player who got dropped from a crappy team.

Ok right, so kobe and fish "vetoed" the Lin pickup, which even in hindsight seems justifiable since the kid came practically from nowhere, yet their input wasn't even asked for during the head coaching search?
Ok.
