Just thought i'd put together all the different streaks of averaging 40 or more points a game over a 9-game stretch through Jordan's career....this was inspired by his career high of 9 straight 40-point games. MJ has over 8 such streaks of averaging 40(rounded up) including the playoffs...i'm ranking them from Best to Worst....

1. 1990 - 43.0ppg on 58.7%FG at 28.0 FGA.
85.9%FT on 10.2 FT's per game.

2. 1990 Playoffs - 40.2ppg on 54.4%FG at 28.8 FGA.
80.5%FT on 9.7 FT's per game.

3. 1989 - 39.9ppg on 62.1%FG at 25.2 FGA.
80.7%FT at 9.8 FT's per game.

4. 1988 - 40.1ppg on 56.7%FG at 26.7 FGA.
84.4%FT at 11.4 FT's per game.

5. 1987 - 40.2ppg on 52.7%FG at 26.3 FGA.
84.6%FT at 14.4 FT's per game.

6. 1987 - 41.0ppg on 50.0%FG at 26.7 FGA.
88.4%FT at 16.2 FT's per game. :wtf:

7. 1987 - 41.6ppg on 48.3%FG at 32.2 FGA. :wtf: ...........87.9%FT at 11.9 FT's per game.

8. 1987 - 39.7ppg on 48.6%FG at 31.1 FGA. :wtf: ..........86.3%FT at 10.6 FT's per game.

Honorable Mentions.....

1. 1987 - 38.6ppg, 48.5%FG.
2. 1987 - 38.0ppg, 52.2%FG.

The best players always get fouled the most. It ain't Jordan's fault or the refs that people fouled him so much.

Kobe has averaged more FTA per shot attempt than Jordan and Jordan was more of a slasher whereas Kobe is more of a shooter.

14 FTA....16 FTA?

LOL sorry but stern was paying them boys in black and white overtime!
It makes sense because this was when he was trying to establish and cement Jordan as the NBA golden boy, the face of the league. Kinda like wade of today. No one near him but still the whistles blows back to back to back to back.

16 FTA over 9 games? lol

Kobe Bryant 2003.....best 9-game streak:

44.0ppg on 49.6%FG at 31.1 FG's per game.....12.6 FT's per game....

And this is different from Jordan how?? if you include Kobe's 3-point chucking, it would equate to about 14.8 FT's per game.

Funny how the only way people can discredit Kobe is by saying he's not as good as Jordan. Well you could do that with just about every player in NBA history. Doesn't change the fact that he's one of the 10 greatest players ever.

Just by looking at Kobe's 2005-2006 season....he had a 7-game streak where he took on average 15.9 FT's per game, to go with 25.4 FG's per game....he shot 44.3%FG over those 7 games.

His overall average was 37.3ppg per game.....not quite 40 on ridiculous FG% now is it??? :hammerhead: :hammerhead:

the only thing Kobe lacks in this comparison is League MVP's..

everything else is very similar...especially considering that picture uses MJ's whole career...when Kobe is still playing...

Kobe could very easily win another Title/FMVP..and Kobe would still be the same age as MJ was when he only had 4 titles..

So it was much harder to penetrate then than today.

His scoring average was heavily inflated due to pace. 50 per game on 48.5 min would translate to 29-33ppg on 36min on today's game. Still impressive though. The stamina needed to put that much points. :biggums:
