lebrons only in the nba because hes the size of a pf, has the strength of a C, and runs faster than a PG

take away all these things and hes luke walton

jordan and kobe would be an even matchup.... i just threw lebron in there to see how many people would be dumb enough to pick him lol

Kobe easily in this case. More fundamentally sound than Jordan.

Jordan was more naturally talented.

or you could just think of who is the most complete basketball player who didnt need a physical advantage to dominate

Kobe > Jordan > Lebron

kobe = small hands, never the most athletic at his position, never the fastest at his position

jordan = huge hands, jumps over everyone, ran fast, best first step

lebron = a power forward who plays point guard and is as strong as dwight howard... runs faster than anyone in the nba and jumps clear over peoples heads for alli oops...
Kobe was so athletic get out of there.:lol

which is why the minute he stopped being the fastest player in the nba he got tossed around like a used prostitute then dumped like yesterdays garbage?

kobe with no physical advantage = 29/6/5

jordan with no physical advantage = 23/5/4

LeBron relies entirely on his athleticism and size, Kobe and Jordan relied more on their basketball IQ. A player like LeBron would suffer more at that size. So would players like Griffin, Dwight, Westbrook, Rose, etc.

Jordan probably. He had quickest first step, greater BBIQ,slashing mentality, best fundamental between those three. Also better at clutch, stealing.

Kobe would try more 3 points than ever. Lebron's strenght wouldn't work.

Jordan > Kobe > Lebron at 5'11.

Umm.... MJ is still smarter than all of them.

So even if we were to believe what Kobe fans want us to believe, MJ's IQ would be good enough to give him the edge.

Kobe would still be forcing bricks and Bron would still be a better overall player than Kobe.

Kiarip
02-16-2012, 06:09 PM
I think Kobe and Jordan would be on similar level. Kobe has some skills that Jordan didn't, but Jordan was very consistently tough mentally. Lebron would probably be a point-guard and not a scorer, so that comparison wouldn't work well.

Kobe, and MJ is a close 2nd. Lebron wouldn't be an NBA-level player at 5-11 if he still had the same poor footwork, mediocre handles and a very inconsistent jump shot paired with mediocre FT shooting.

He was an inch taller than Kobe and ended up shooting 10+% higher FG% Prime-vs-Prime, more PPG averages in regular, season, playoffs, finals, and higher career totals while playing less seasons

Kobe and MJ were 6-5, I believe Lebron is at least 3 inches taller and 60-70 pounds heavier and roided up to the gills.. Kobe played at 185 pounds in 2013 after he dropped 20 during the off-season and was one of the 3 best players in the league. Lebron's played way more minutes than Kobe in both RS & Playoffs by the way, Kobe barely played his first 2 seasons as a back-up and went through a 50-game lockout season as well and had BO5 first rounds for half of his PO career and played in the tougher Conference.

Lebron was close to Kobe's RS minutes' total when he passed him in scoring despite the FG% talk.

When their primes overlapped in the late 2000s in 07-10, Kobe averaged 30.0 ppg 46.4%FG/56.8%TS in the Playoffs vs. Lebron's 29.0 ppg 45.4%FG/56.1%TS.

Kobe only played one series in 2007 no point using that year, what if you just used 2008-2010?

Because that's when Lebron entered his prime and made the Finals? You know, the only time that he was able to do that before forming superteams? I wanted it to be a larger sample size so I included '07, not that it matters but if I just did 08-10 then Lebron only played in 38 Playoff games so it wouldn't be a fair comparison. The '07 Playoff series did not boost Kobe's FG%/TS% anyways so I'm not sure why you're even crying about it, I guess it's because you have no argument against it.

I already did compare 08-10 Kobe to 11-13 Lebron too btw

Playoffs

08-10 Kobe - 29.8 ppg 5.5 apg 46.4%FG/56.9%TS
11-13 Lebron - 26.7 ppg 6.0 apg 48.7%FG/57.5%TS

Almost identical in efficiency but one played on superteams and scored 3 less points a game while playing 2 extra mpg.

Kobe was the better scorer when they were in their primes in the same era, get over it.

No it wasn't. 2015 was a bad year for him when he averaged 30.1 ppg on 41.7%FG/48.7%TS.. Lebron wasn't in his prime then either but the league stopped playing defense and went 3PT heavy which helped inflate his #s.

All at same height and weight?

Lebron would be the worst because so much of his advantages come from his size and strength and this hypothetical nullifies those. At the same size he wouldn't really stand a chance especially in a one-on-one game which I presume is what the OP is asking.

I would say wash between MJ and Kobe. Tough to choose because MJ with his first step and huge hands and Kobe the master of footwork and post moves and can make the toughest shots consistently of any player I've ever seen. When it comes down to it I think MJ's superior ability to get to and finish near the rim means he can win a little more. 10 games maybe MJ wins 6 Kobe wins 4.
