thats Wilt Chamberlain/KAJ-like.

It was indeed an exceptional game, especially for a perimeter player, but Chamberlain had games of 68 (along with 37 rebounds) on 30-40 shooting, and even a 66 point game, on 29-35 shooting (his LAST 60+ point game.) In addition, Wilt had a 67 point game on 27-37 shooting and 13-17 from the line. And how about a 27-38, 16-22, 70 point game?

If KD really focused on scoring, he would be winning the scoring title for a few years. He's the most gifted, all-around perimeter player in the NBA. Tall, long-arms, and smooth/quick release. He can win the scoring title this year if he adds another 2 shot attempts per game.

Why in the hell do we have to keep hearing about how many 50+ point games Kobe and LeBron have on 68%+ shooting? Who gives a shit? Of course they've got more than KD, especially Kobe.

Games Played
Kobe: 1,133
LeBron: 657
Durant: 345

Kobe has played in nearly 4x as many games and LeBron in 2x as many. I'm not saying Durant is going to get a bunch more 50+ point games by the time he's been in the league as long as those guys, but it's possible. Durant may not ever have a Kobe like scoring run unless he parts ways with Westbrook before this prime is over. Kobe had a stretch of seasons after Shaq where is supporting cast was awful and he had to chuck and score in order for the Lakers to have a shot to win games. Lebron was in a similar situation for the first seven seasons of his career.

Let's give KD his props for his first 50 point game while doing so on 68% shooting. He's just 23 years old and is probably entering the very early years of his prime. Oh, and he's already a 2x scoring champ which equals Kobe and is one more than Lebron.

I remember that game. He was super hot in the beginning, leading the team to an early blow out, but then cooled down (6 of 14), but kept going to the free-throw line. Wow, that's new and impressive.

I don't think he made clutch baskets in the end when Orlando made it a game, because I remember only that Portland game as his true clutch performance of last regular season. Just looked it up, he scored 44 points in that OT game.

Well, turns out the other guy was wrong in bringing up that 51-point performance, because it wasn't like Durant's, where he scored 20 some points in the 4th and OT, while scoring 5 points in less than a minute to go to tie the game.

That's why I'd asked what decade, because I knew he hadn't done that since his Cleveland days. Anything else?

Insidehoops, where finding ways to criticize a 51/11/8 game because you hate a player is routine.
Well, I was commenting on Durant's clutchness in addition to his 51 point game, and he brought that up (although I'm not sure if he was responding to me), so yes, it was the criteria, at least to me.

I don't need to criticize Lebron's game, because it's irrelevant. Let's have this conversation when he does that this season. I'll even take a 30 point game as long as he takes and makes some shots down the stretch like most superstars and leaders do.

A great game is a great game. All that matters when discussing a performance, is THAT performance. 51/11/8 is a great performance regardless; as Durant's would be had he blown the lead open in the early 4th or 3rd quarter not requiring a down to the wire finish.

Amazing performance, didn't think it would be long till he got a 50 point game. Not many better than him as a scorer.

Yeah. That is the confusing part. Durant is one of the most likable superstars in the league. He's not cocky, arrogant or anything like some superstars are. He doesn't even get a terrible amount of coverage like other superstars it seems.

I wouldn't say he's not cocky or arrogant, as far as basketball goes. He has a huge chip on his shoulder.

KD is a gunner its harder to be this efficient scoring at high volumes, Durant will be the league's best scorer for a long ass time since he does not need to be super athletic like Lebron to score.

Miami won that game by 4 points only, and the score would have been tied with only 6 seconds to go, had Anderson made the three he took.:facepalm

Lebron took several free throws down the stretch and missed two. Wade also missed some free throws, but they won the game.

So they were similar games, only Durant's team was trailing, and he came through. I'm sorry, but Durant's performance is much more impressive to me.

I love how Lebron stans refuse to give credit to anyone not named Lebron. So insecure :lol

Then they try to turn right around and claim to be REAL NBA fans, just to seem like they're objective.:facepalm

In the last 4 minutes of that game, LeBron scored 11 points

If LeBron were in Durant's position, you'd claim Westbrook bailed him out. If Kobe were in Durant or Bron's position, your head would explode with joy. Both were great performances, no need for criticism for either.

Ok this strongly shakes my belief about Lebron being the best player in the league.
Overreaction much?
And **** off with the Kobe scored more points and Lebron is more efficient.:lol

Wow this thread is really going places.

First 50 point game of the season. Great performance and great game. Russell had a 40 pointer and Serge had a triple double with blocks and still the Nugs almost fought them off. Crazy.

And ya'll talking about what now? Such a redundant crowd we have here on ISH.

Round and round and round and round...:facepalm

I believe that Lebron is the best player in the game today, easily.
But come on, can we not appreciate it when someone smacks in 51 on an incredible shooting percentage?

Why are Lebron and Kobe being bought up in a thread appreciating Durants achievement?
smh

Great performance by Durant. :applause: This was despite Westbrook's (probable) sabotage attempt.

If he had Kobe's mentality, he'd have at least 6 50 pt games by now. He's that good. Too bad he has a bit of a beta mentality.

Lebron 50 point games:
56 pts
55 pts
52 pts
52 pts
51 pts
51 pts
51 pts
51 pts
51 pts
50 pts

and in most of them he was flirting with a triple double...

Durant 50 point games:
51 pts

It was indeed an exceptional game, especially for a perimeter player, but Chamberlain had games of 68 (along with 37 rebounds) on 30-40 shooting, and MY GOD, even a 66 point game, on 29-35 shooting (his LAST 60+ point game.) In addition, Wilt had a 67 point game on 27-37 shooting and 13-17 from the line. And how about a 27-38, 16-22, 70 point game?

Even the senior citizens can't help but troll a career high game from Durant :oldlol:

The thing is.. Durant is the most selfless star in the league. He doesn't give two s*%# about whether he scores, it's about giving it to the guy in the best position to make the shot and give his team the best shot at winning.

I agree, sometimes he could take an extra shot or two, but I'd much rather him giving it to players in better positions then him be jacking up 28 shots a game.

How about this triple-double from Chamberlain... 53 points, on 24-29 shooting, with 32 rebounds, and 14 assists (and even a mere 7 blocks)?
How about discussing someone who's alive?
