Lakers close to signing Rasheed Wallace

There's at least one team apparently still with a need for Rasheed Wallace.

CSNNE.com has learned that the former Boston Celtic forward plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Wallace hasn't played in an NBA game since Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals, alerting the C's shortly before the game that he planned to retire.

I like McRoberts and what he brings to the floor. It's unfortunate that Mike Brown can't use him in the offense since he can't really shoot. His rebounding and lobs really make him a fan favourite, but he just doesn't fit the role so he's pretty much in bench mode. I'm sure he is being shopped around alongside Morris/Goudelock and draft picks for other players.

Worst case scenario he gives you 6 fouls for the playoffs, solid defense even at his age and the occasional hot game. Maybe they have other motives for this signing, maybe they don't. It's possible Gasol leaves and McRoberts takes the starting spot with Sheed/Murphy as his backups, or perhaps Gasol stays and they're packaging either McRoberts or Murphy together for a player capable of starting at the 1.

They're interested in Sessions but would seem apprehensive about parting with their first round pick. Cleveland has Andy V out for the season with an injury and they're on the cusp of the playoffs with Boston struggling and the Sixers falling from grace on a 5 game losing streak. McRoberts would be a solid addition to that Cavaliers team heading into the post-season.

Just a thought... although I still don't understand why LA bothered signing McRoberts in the first place if they hardly give him burn while throwing Murphy out on the court more often than him.

Murph was a "what if" signing who turned out to get back to his good shooting form. You need his floor spacing. As bad and slow as he is these days, he's the best Laker three point shooter at 44% and quite frankly has to be on the floor until someone else starts knocking them down.
