View Full Version : Clippers turn down Eric Bledsoe for Jamal Crawford straight up

Chris Broussard just reported on NBA countdown that Portland offered us Crawford to fill the SG hole and Clippers turned it down because they wanted Bledsoe straight up. Only reason I think it's a good idea is because Bledsoe has been very good last couple games and Crawford is going to test free agency from what is being reported. Clippers want to keep Bledsoe in case CP3 bolts I think.

Thoughts?

I'd do the trade but if Crawford tests free agency for most money like he's supposedly going to.... Clippers would be screwed.

Clippers been screwed since '81.

It's Chris Broussard so you know it's not true.

Wait what? Do the Clippers think Chris Paul died or something?

Not really. Clips are in win now mode. Paul isn't guaranteed to stay.

Crawford is a huge upgrade from Foye.

You have Mo Williams off the bench. What's the point in having another sparky combo guard?

LOL if this is true. Sterling is going to ruin that franchise soon.

The Clippers should've pulled the trigger. I know Crawford would test free agency after this season, but there's a good chance he would come back for at least 1 year with Chris Paul right?

The Clippers have to be in a win-now mode. They can't be looking to the future and thinking past Chris Paul because they've been looking to the future since 1981 and have this is the first legitimate time on paper they have a team that can possible go deep in the playoffs.

It's an upgrade over Foye and he brings a player other than Paul that can break down his man one-on-one from outside. Mo Williams doesn't do this.

This exactly.

If you work to make a championship team, you don't worry about Chris Paul the next year or whatever. :oldlol:

Fact is Bledsoe's value is higher than Crawford. Clippers could get a better SG for Bledsoe than Crawford in my opinion.

Trade his ass and then trade Mo for SJax + Gooden

Look at the depth
CP3/Crawford(Billups if he gets back in playoff time?)
SJax/Crawford/Foye
Butler/SJax/Gomes
Blake/Martin/Evans
Jordan/Gooden

Versatile, Deep and easily top 4 team in the league, atleast on paper.

Maybe that is why they declined. They still have a week to find a better deal.

I think they keep Bledsoe until next season.

Wouldn't be a great trade for them. He's a taller Mo Williams. He loves to shoot.

I would have loved him in Chicago but he hasn't been that impressive in Portland. He's not your prototypical SG.

I mean it's not a big deal if he left a filler like Gomes or Foye being added..... which would make it work.....

Btw, Clippers are being the Clippers for not accepting. Crawford would come in and be almost the perfect SG for that team (looking at realistic options obviously). Bledsoe barely plays, Crawford would get like 30 mpg.

Unless this is mis-reported or something big is being left out, it's moronic for LAC to decline. To those saying they can do better.... what do you think they can get?

Bringing in a guy for a < half season rental at the expense of a solid young talent who is salary controlled for the next three years?

What are they thinking?

Mo has been great. If they prefer Jamal, then trade Mo for Jamal and trade Bledsoe for something else. What, I have no idea.

The Clippers need to go all out this season and make trades to do it. You're not gonna convince CP3 and Griffin to stay long-term if you have a lackluster first year. They need to go ALL IN and shoot for the finals this year to give their big name players the feeling that they have a legit shot to win rings.

Also trade for a new coach.

Whoah10115

The Clippers don't have to do shit to keep CP3. They're a 50win team right now, with him just getting here. If they win 50 and lose in the 1st or 2nd round, he's not gonna just bolt. He has Blake Griffin. And Griffin, even if he wants to go, is locked for a few years because he's on a rookie contract and that extension can be matched later. Paul isn't going anywhere.

Well if you can get Ray Allen for Bledsoe+, I don't see why you would settle for Crawford.

Sorry why did you bump this?

Was sorting through bookmarks and found it funny that Clippers got him in free agency anyways and Bledsoe looks awesome this preseason. On top of that tons of people ragged on the Clippers for not making the trade. Good read.

I'm not denying anything. I also wasn't passionate about the trade not happening being a bad idea. I simply said I'd do it or consider it at the time, but left it at that.
