.........and 7-1 when Melo was out.
But Nah, it's Mike D'Antoni's fault right? It's MDA's fault that Melo shoots 40% from the field and that he shoots a TS% less than 50% right? :oldlol:

Dam that's when you know a guy's career is on the downward. 21\8\3 on awful shooting is brutal for Melo. Esp considering he's losing while doing so. Good numbers for him if your winning I guess.
If I'm a Knicks fan I'd be happy with 25\7\3 tho, while being efficient.

They didn't go to Melo at all in the last 5 minutes of the game. I don't know whose decision that was, but you have to let your best player do work when it comes to crunch time. No one was making an effort to get the ball to him, when really he should've been bringing it up every time.

Marsh-Melo got a bunch of shots at the end, he just didn't make them.
He needs to follow Dirk, who took off a week and went into massive conditioning for a week. He came back in better shape and has played much better.

He should've been getting the ball. If he is scoring then he'll attract the double team, then he'll pass out for the open man. That's how it works. Instead he got during garbage time and missed a bunch of shots. All I remember is that Fields didn't get him the ball and he got mad a bit. I don't remember how each possession went down though.

It is quite clear that Melo cannot play with other all-star caliber players such as Lin and Amare. Melo can only fit in with great role players which is exactly what he had in Denver. I stopped watching after mid 4th because I thought the Bulls had in the bad and I started doing other shit though.

there are plenty of all star players melo would be fine next to. tyson has arguably been playing like an all star, and melo has absolutely no problem playing with him.
melo would be fine with a stretch four (so dirk, kevin love, and kevin garnett are examples of all stars that would work with him) or even a high post four like pau would be fine. he'd be fine next to point guards like deron williams, rondo, and tony parker who don't have quite the case of black hole-itis that Lin has. he'd obviously be fine next to guys like rip hamilton and ray allen. even he and durant would probably work together.
amar'e is a bad fit because he also likes the elbow like melo does, which messes up spacing badly. lin and melo I think will eventually be okay, but Lin is actually a bit of a black hole at times and they don't have good chemistry on the court. if lin can develop to be more like tony parker and strike a balance, they could work.

yep. I said in another post, Melo dominating slower power forwards from the elbow reminds me so much of how Amar'e would dominate slower centers from the elbow last year. They're both really good at it, but there's no room for two guys like that on the team. the spacing's impossible. If Knicks keep one, they keep Melo.
And I do think some people are writing off Amar'e completely when they shouldn't be. He is a niche player who has been taken out of his niche. Put him on the team where he is the clear first option, and he can dominate.

Here is already a 5 game sample size when Lin/Amare/Melo were together with Woodson.
Knicks have been 5-0 since Woodson has taken over and here are Melo, Amare, and Lin's stats for those 5 games.
Melo - 14.2 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 4.4 apg, 38.8% FG (13.4 FGA), 27.8% 3P, 60.9% FT (4.6 FTA), 1.8 topg
Amare - 16.8 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 57.4% FG, (10.8 fga), 78.6% FT, (5.6 FTA), 1.2 topg
Lin - 14.8 ppg, 6.0 apg, 4.8 rpg, 43.8% FG (9.6 FGA), 30.0% 3p, 96.7% FT (6.0 FTA), 3.2 TOPG.
lol at Melo. He has taken more shots than both Amare and Lin and he is still scoring less than both of them.
He played just as bad the next few games and then Lin/Amare go out and then Melo starts playing a star player again.

He was injured BEFORE Lin came into the picture. The injuries to his wrist and groin were reasons why he had nights shooting 10/30 FG and 1/11 FG early in the season.
He got healthier after Linsanity (although he did reaggravate his groin at one point). But the fact of the matter is that the way he was being used on offense didn't allow him to develop any sort of rhythm. Davis is subservient to Melo and Woodson's offense is more post-oriented with pnr serving as a secondary or fall-back option.
Lin was far more ball dominating (and you can blame D'Antoni for that) and often relegated Melo to a floor spacer and bail-out shot taker when Lin's pnr didn't work. But Lin will see the success Melo is having without him and adapt.
Lin, Amare and Melo can and will definitely work.

It's more like 7-8 games either way it is more than 3 like you tried to sugarcoat or do you want to go back to your injuries excuse? Melo has just been hurt all year and then he just coincidentally became healthy against as soon as Lin and Amare went out. :oldlol:
By the way, Melo is injury prone because he fails to take care of his body. Durability is part of the game. Melo doesn't get freak accidents or anything like that either. He just gets injured because he always shows up to a new season out of shape.

Melo still hasn't had a full training camp with Amar'e, and when Lin first came to the Knicks, D'Antoni would not let him practice with Melo/Amar'e.

I don't think Melo is even exceptionally injury prone. Everyone gets banged up from time to time. You also have to take into account that he plays very physical basketball. He is the only real post-up small forward in the game right now. I don't think it's fair to call out his conditioning. He doesn't have good definition, but he is clearly an endomorph. He's like barkley or shaq. a big, strong, kind of chubby looking guy.
I don't understand at this point why any team would sign Mike D'Antoni.
