Thank god, less ball handling the better. His handles have fallen off with all the accumulated hand injuries, way too many unnecessary turnovers. Hopefully he and Sessions can build chemistry quickly.

what makes me laugh is Sessions was amazing that first half last night, and then doesn't get put back in until 2 min's left in the 3rd Qtr for a Blake that just stands out on the perimeter and passes it like he's scared, on top of Kobe running iso's. i guess since the Lakers were winning and everyone was hitting it didn't matter, but if you want to integrate someone that was the game to do it.

sad that Session's still has to deal with getting PT with that idiot Mike Brown when its just obvious night and day between him and Blake, and then he has to deal with getting emphasis vs kobe mode iso's. kobe wasn't bad last night, but sooner or later i have a feeling Kobe mode will take over again. not believing him being a legit 2 guard now at all

Kobe not playing the hybrid PG/SG role is a great thing for him and the Lakers' offense. At this point in his career he has neither then handles or the explosiveness to play that role. I expect him to have a lot more energy towards the end of games and should be able to get easier shots now that he doesn't have to constantly create off the dribble.

Sessions needs a good 30 minutes a game for this to work properly IMO.

Steve Blake is a prototypical backup PG. He comes in, plays hard, runs, is aggressive, a very good shooter, makes plays.

As a starter? Makes no sense. Sessions is not a backup. That's why he didn't wanna stay in Cleveland.

Mike Brown should be fired.

Matt Barnes does nothing but run the floor well and play great defense. So why is Ron Artest starting?

Dude.. he just got to LA, he looks out of wack on defense like he doesn't know where he should be because he probably doesn't yet. He runs and guns way more than anyone on the roster he looks to fly out immediately upon getting the pass from whoever got the defensive rebound, it makes way more sense (at least for now) to have him playing heavy minutes but from THE BENCH. And Artest starts for similar reasons, he's the better defender which is what is needed with that group of starters.

You should be fired from life.

We all hope you can be a legitimate two-guard, Kobe. But in order to be "legitimate," you have to shoot above 35%.

It really is amazing how well Session fits in with the Lakers. His ability to get into the paint has opened up everyone's game. When was the last time we had two guys (well, one mostly, Kobe can't take people off the dribble consistently anymore) who could break down defenses and wreak havoc in the paint? No, Odom doesn't count.

I find it pretty sad that some fans find "reason" take this quote as concern for Bryant jacking up more shots.

If you can't understand that it means Bryant will handle the ball less in playmaking situations and can focus just on scoring and getting the ball in spots, as opposed to over-dribbling...then you're sad.

Whether or not it happens is irrelevant in this thread. What is relevant is that those people are sad.

That's only cuz they don't know a thing about basketball to begin with. Their main point to continue to hate on Kobe just to hate him. If Kobe handles the ball less, as well as takes less shots, then that will forever kill their whole "Oh Kobe's a selfish ballhog shotjacker" knock against him. And since they know nothing about basketball, they'll have nothing else to say.

That's what he said in this itw.

"Kobe's become the floor leader of a basketball team that was kind of looking for that nature of a player, who could not only be a scorer, but also be a playmaker or consistently make big plays at critical times. So it was very important for Kobe to step into that role that he was envisioned at. I've always held the bar up very high for Kobe, and he's not only reached that bar, but he's jumping over the top of it right now."

More comparison and contrast: "I think it's the best that I've ever seen a player of mine play with an overall court game. I'm asking him to do so much, and he's accomplishing it. I never asked Michael to be a playmaker. That's the greatest player that I've ever had, that I could consider the greatest player in the game, and I never asked him to be a playmaker in those terms. I asked him to be playmaker when he was doubled or tripled. But Kobe has to set up the offense, to advance the ball, to read the defense, to make other players
happy, and he's doing a great job of that." -Phil Jackson

Thing is, you know Ramon has been really good simply because his style got the bench to perform much better. He's gonna eventually move to the starting lineup, and thats gonna be one hell of a 5 to play against.

Move Blake to the bench and all the sudden the bench stops playing as good as they have been.

I say just play Ramon all 48 minutes a game. The dude never played full time starter's minutes anyways.
