Best part of the season so far has been RZA. He's been soo funny. The guy who plays Bates too is absolutely hilarious.

Excuse this post but i finished season 4 yesterday. should be caught up in a week but my thoughts on the show.........personal opinion its a sad stry cause we all know someone like Hank. Someone who can have it all IF THEY WANTED TOO BUT ARE TOO BUSY ACTING LIKE KIDS. Hank has a family , b.itches, could have loads of $ if he decided to sit down and write but he squanders it away. By far Season 4 was my fav. The consequences of his actions (sex with a minor) throughout the whole season send hank into a botomless pit. That plus the conclusion of season 3 with Elton Johns Rocketman playing..epic. There was a misstep in season 3 with his best friend coming from NY to visit him.. i mean wtf was that about? pointless and stupid. looking forward to season 5

As long as you pick it up from the start of a season you'll be fine. The plot of the season itself is of much greater importance than the overarching plot.

TV shows are deliberately made like this, believe it or not. Making a TV show that can't be enjoyed by new viewers unless they watch a (maybe not readily available) previous iteration of it first is not good for business.



I do watch the show sometimes, but mostly for the pretty ladies. The new British hoe is ultra-fine.

Can you give a brief summary what it's like/about?

The main character is a successful, but lazy writer who's a total stud and ges laid all the time but doesn't care about that because he's still in love with his baby mama and daughter. It's a dramedy through and through with lots of hot naked chicks, sex, and hilarious encounters.


The first season is amazing... Everything after that has been a real step down, but it's still a good show. There's a lot of similarities to The Great Gatsby.

This season is interesting because you see that Hank really isn't to blame for anything that happened to ruin his and Karen's relationship. Every woman on the show is such a ****. Plus RZA is awesome.

Yep, it kind of sucks to see Hank taking the fall for everything when most of it isn't his fault. He's trying to be noble but as usual it's like a self fulfilling prophecy that he'll always be the bad guy and never have the family he's always desired. RZA is great and is probably going to try to kill Hank in the finale.

The thing with Hank is I always find myself cheering for him because you can tell deep down he's a really good guy and I think most viewers can relate to some part of his life one way or another. Season 5 is great so far.

You don't have to, but I'd suggest you watch them all in order, it's more fun that way.

Sad ending to season 5. Just when you think Hank is finally going to be content.

It'll be interesting to see where Season 6 kicks off. Karen can't possibly be mad at Hank for getting drugged by a crazy chick.

I'm sure I'm really dating myself by saying this, and no one probably will have any idea what I'm talking about, but the guy who plays Bates played the QB, Tom Yinessa, on the original HBO adult themed dramady in the mid 80s, with OJ Simpson as the GM, Gene Simmons' playmate wife as the owner, and the guy from Revenge of the Nerds. I remember vividly sneaking out of bed to watch it on our living room TV with the stolen premium cable.

It's a good show, not great. I know he's a writer, but I sometimes find the language a bit too flowery (which is saying something considering the way I talk). And as mentioned above, the reason the show works is because Hank is likable. It's something I mentioned in the thread about House of Lies, which is clearly cut from the same clothe, but was just awfull, in part because the characters, particularly Don Cheadle's, are just unredeemable.
