View Full Version : Is Durant the most likable superstar in the game today?

...or have we discovered a reason to hate on him?
note: Aldridge does not have superstar status, imo, or he would be up there.

Not really....He has a number of haters now.
On Topic, yea Durant is probably the most liked. Dwight turned faces with the trade fiasco. CP3 is getting critcism for whining and flopping, same with Blake.
I hate how Durant was drafted #2 rather than #1 :rant

To be honest, I think he might be hard to hate on but that doesn't make him likable. I don't know where his pizzaz is. Westbrook is more exciting. For some reason I like Ray Allen's jumper better. I have no problem with Durant. But I would never rush home for work to see him play if I heard Westbrook wasn't playing.

yup, Rose is up there too.
One of them is going to say something incredibly minor and it will get blown out of proportion...and then there will be a legion of haters (other than the built-in Lebron fans).

The Zimmerman story is getting publicity because a 17 year old kid is dead for doing nothing other than walking down the street. His killer, who instigated the confrontation for stupid reasons, is free on his word that it was self defense. If the cops had done their job right in the first place this wouldn't even be a story.
In the other stories you brought up did the cops let the killers go free?

the old couple was walking down the street and the man was Us war veteran. is it because theyre old? if so the student that got killed by 3 black ppl BECAUSE he was white was walking down street also.
those 3 havent been found and am the guy who attacked old couple pretty sure is jail.
different from zimmerman story because of witnesses backing up his story of selfdefense. tho i think zimmerman should be locked up for sure because gun use unecessary.
just b4 anyone assumes something i am black. just tired of all the race wars and biased stories.

I don't like him because he is Stern's whore which questions his legitimacy as a star. Is he really that good or are refs calling games to go OKC's way?
That we will never know; what we do know is the NBA's hype machine is already proclaiming him as the best when there are better players out there.

As far as personality goes, Rose is a complete loser. That dude has absolutely no personality whatsoever; he is just a robotic talking PR pawn.
Don't get me wrong, he's got game, but can you imagine hanging out with him at a party? He's just that socially awkward kid standing in the corner by himself with one beer in his hand hanging out with his cousin who he forced to go because he has no friends.
I don't know, Rose just looks like a serial killer. What a loser.

I don't like him because I feel as though he's been forced down our throats, and he tries too hard to be likable. Drove me crazy during 2010 FIBA games how every article acted like it was "Durant's team" and he was carrying them even after he had shitty games.
Also, he's the type of player that benefits a lot from no hand checking, which bugs me. I think OKC gets too much help from the refs.
I dunno. I used to have similar problems with Kobe and Lebron, but then when Kobe went through the Colorado stuff and Lebron went through all the hate last year, it made them more likable to me because people weren't always sucking on their knobs all the time.

I actually think Durant and Wade are now the actual best players in the game. Rose to me is easily the most likeable. No stupid dancing and gimmicks ala Durant. Hard worker, humble, loves his momma ... I can appreciate it. He's got that old school competitive streak in him.
If Kobe had his head screwed on right, and wasn't playing so damn immature and was ballin like how he was in early 2010 given his limitations ... he's be in the discussion.
But this whole even more immature reverting back to bad habits and stupid decisions is affecting this guy's legacy to me.
I really thought in 2008 he had fully matured.

This is a great point. As we all know, most NBA players hate their mommas.
Oh, and I the only person getting incredibly sick of hearing about how "humble" Derrick Rose is? Didn't Mr. Humble just recently complain in a post game about not getting enough "superstar calls"? Didn't he say he doesn't care how much he gets fined for saying it while he was saying it? I'm not saying he isn't "humble", but he's no more humble (in public) than most players are.
As far as being "likeable"...... I can't see it. I don't dislike him as a person, but someone with a complete lack of a personality is not someone I would find likeable beyond what they do as a player.

I'd have to agree. Durant has universal appeal, much less like a Kobe but more low-key with more of a calmer "home-town" feel to him. I've been a fan ever since his Texas days, in which he was equally spectacular. I actually remember quite a few pundits saying that Durant was the the absolute "safest" top2 pick in the last decade (ppl weren't sure if he was going 1 or 2 that year cause of oden) and that betting on Durant was literally like betting on a sure thing. Of the pundits that made this claim I distinctly remember Skip Bayless being one of them, which is probably why he's still so high on him now.

The most likeable have to be Rose and Durant. They seem down to earth and calm type of people that you can get along with easily.
