View Full Version : Why was Ariza crying?

Clippersfan86

Blake got 3 hard fouls tonight and that cheapshot last week and it's considered okay. Yet Blake delivers a hard foul to knock him on his ass like a ragdoll and Ariza acts like he wants to fight? Typical double standard for bigmen in the NBA. I feel bad for the first person Griffin decides to give a flagrant 2.

Don't understand the point of the thread. It was a cheap shot from Griffin. What was Ariza was supposed to do, say "I know people do it to you all the time, so we're cool"?

He got mad and I would have gotten mad too. It was a cheap shot. Griffin should have saved it for the next time he played Smith. Cheap is cheap and Blake isn't exactly the cleanest player.

Like I said... Double standards. Shaq used to get beat up so much and once in a while gave a very hard foul and players cried too. If you're going to beat up a bigman you better be prepared to get hit hard.

Flagrants aren't clean. He didn't play the ball. I'm not gonna crucify him for it, it happens. But Ariza isn't the one laying the cheap shots on him. Hit the guys hitting you.

And the Shaq thing is completely wrong. Shaq hit everybody on every play. Shaq never got beat up. He was a walking offensive foul.

Griffin does take some unfair hits, but then he should lay them back out on the right players. And like I said, Griffin isn't the cleanest of players and is a bit of a prick on the court.

You don't see the subtle things players do to Griffin like punching him in the nuts, grabbing his throat etc. That's not even accounting for all the flagrants he gets. In comparison to what he receives it was a mild foul. I wish he hit people every game like that to send a message that he's not going to put up with shit.

You honestly expect him to target a specific player when an entire team philosophy on D is to pack paint and give Griffin hard fouls all game? F that. Griffin needs to do this way more often.

We should also let him play with a baseball bat so instead of flopping every time some almost touches him he can just beat the shit out of them and "send a message"...

Blake easily gets more cheapshots and flagrant fouls than any NBA player including Dwight. Dwight gets hard fouls but he doesn't have the same flashy style that humiliates teams so it happens less.

You didn't watch the game apparently. Ariza got up... and acted like he wanted to go after Griffin and was making a scene. Hitting CP3's arms away when CP3 was trying to calm him down. Flagrant 1 is the key here. It's usually deemed as a hard, unnecessary foul. NOT a dirty foul or a cheapshot. So maybe not quite clean but definitely not a cheapshot. :facepalm . If it was a cheapshot he would of been tossed obviously.

That was the only video I can find. I described why I even made the thread though. Ariza first walked up to DJ and pointed in his face as if to tell him to control Blake. Then CP3 was holding Ariza back and he gave a hard chop on CP3's hands.. and wrestled away from his teammates acting like he was going to pursue Griffin. Griffin the whole time walked away without saying a word or taunting too. Ariza gets to midcourt and is still mouthing off to Griffin.

I'm not saying Ariza wasn't right to react if it was out of the blue. Considering the Hornets had given Griffin 3 hard fouls tonight though similar in nature and one cheapshot 3 nights ago... he should of at the very least understood where he was coming from and walked away. It's the tough guy act like he wanted to fight Griffin that I'm criticizing, not him being upset.

10 times harder, Christ, this flopper over exaggerates more than you.

Just admit you got worried when someone stepped to your boy.

Trevor Ariza: "It was a hard foul. You're not supposed to give easy baskets or layups and that's what he was doing."

Basically acknowledging it wasn't a cheapshot and Griffin was doing what he was supposed to be doing. Blake Griffin got about 15+ midair flagrant fouls last season and is on pace for something similar this year. The king of receiving cheapshots finally gives a hard foul. This is worth talking about.

The two flagrants he's given in his career have completely wrecked players. Proving his strength. In a similar play he fu**ed Al Horford up for weeks. It's a good improvement and I'm hoping a trend forms. He needs to go Karl Malone on MOFO's.

You're a delusional homer man, you're acting like it's good for one and not for the other.

See how Ariza (the guy who got taken out mid air) moves on and says it's all part of the game. Where as Griffin is still b!tching about being called for a flagrant.

Don't have a problem with the call based on what the NBA sees flagrant fouls. Griff went really hard at Ariza while Ariza was in the air. Thats pretty dangerous. He could have fell flat on his back and hit his head. Ariza is lucky he caught his leg on the ground.

it's easy to see why ariza would get quickly upset. it was heat of the moment and it could have been much worse

OP you are the one making a big deal out of this. You surely knew people would respond to your rant with their own rants on Griffins flopping. Yes Griff gets fouled hard, but so do a lot of players in the NBA, so don't try and act like he is the first person to get treatment from the opposition. Did Ariza overreact? Yeah sure. Is he the first person, in the heat of a game, to get up after a hard foul and try to look tough and fight the other person? Hell no. This thread is pointless. Take your whinging elsewhere. I like Griff and I often defend him when people go on about his flaws and his flopping, but this thread has made me not like him. I hope your happy.

Dude you suck Griffin's ****. Obviously it's not as bad as Smith's foul, but Ariza has every right to be mad. 100% guarantee that if the roles were reversed you'd be calling for Ariza's head. If someone like KG did you'd probably join on with the rest saying that he's just picking on a smaller player. You talk about others having double standards when you're no different to them when you defend Griffin or Paul

Problem with Blake is the way he carries himself on the court. His ego is getting the better of him at times. Plus the flopping has put a target on him throughout the league.

He needs to just keep working on his game and develop into a greater player.

Griffin hit Ariza hard, Ariza got up and reacted to the hard foul. Most people would react like that if they copped a shot like Ariza did. Don't know why there is a whole thread about Ariza reacting to a hard foul

Nothing wrong with this foul or Arizas reaction (you get fouled hard, you will get mad). Good hard foul that should not be a flagrant foul.

Let alone OP complaining about him being mad about the hit....WTF? He has every right to be pissed. Cause we all know Griffin would be bitching he rest of the game if that happened to him.

I don't understand why you think people will fear him or something, Griffin is not the only person with size in the NBA, and these players know that. Do you REALLY think Perkins couldn't put Blake on his ass if he went for the dirty blow?

Like I said... Double standards. Shaq used to get beat up so much and once in a while gave a very hard foul and players cried too. If you're going to beat up a bigman you better be prepared to get hit hard.

I think you fail to grasp what a double standard truly is.

I feel like people on this board would absolutely LOVE Griffin and he would get a lot more love from the refs if he didn't flop so much and played like he's built.

His personality and humor kinda won me over, but his flopping on the court makes me not like him as a player. Don't get me wrong, he's definitely an exciting player to watch, but I find it hard to root for him sometimes.

That happens to Kevin Love as well, most good big men actually. This isn't limited to Blake.

First off, I like the Clippers and dislike the Hornets. Second, I'd much rather a player act like Ariza and go at the player who fouled him rather than do that shit Blake did after he was slammed in that other game. Lying on the floor and quivering? You didn't need to sell it that hard, Blakey.

By the way, if anyone watched Clippers live after the game, the hosts practically stoked themselves raw over Blake's foul on Ariza. Kept talking about how great it was, how it was the right way to foul, how it sent a message, blah blah blah. The janitors probably had to work overtime scrubbing out those semen stains from the floor.

Sometimes you just have to go for the block. This was one of those times and Ariza got in the way of the block. Ariza's fault? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

I don't buy that Griffin was going for the block, but I think the hit was justified.

The guy gets raped down low practically every game, and Jason Smith tried to pull some WWF beatdown, so Blake sent a message that the bully's will be punished with physical force. Sure, it would have been more fitting if it was Jason Smith he demolished, but nonetheless: message received.

I know Blake flops, but he really does get abused (often without a whistle). I can't hate on the guy for taking matters into his own hands.. errr.. chest.

Yup. He needs to dish out maybe 3-4 more of these flagrants before the playoffs... so teams know.

wait so you are saying the reason he flops is because if he doesn't (and becomes a manly man, and earns love from insidehoops posters) he will never get fouls called on him due to the perception that because hes big and strong he should take those hits more often than less physically built players....and not because he just decided to play like a girl one morning?

all this unnecessary hate has restored my Blake Griffin fandom. Thanks folks.

he flops, but he doesn't initiate these "fights." it's like their is a target on him and players are either aggravated by his smugness or maybe they are just jealous because he jumps higher than they can off a trampoline.

and speaking of his perceived smugness, I think its way overblown. If he is so smug and arrogant why does he deal with confidence issues? I'm starting to think people are either envious or just don't like how he looks. A lot of Blake's reputation is based on myth.

:applause: . People are turning on Blake much faster than they did with other future all time greats. Let Durant be the hero and the golden boy. I want Blake to be a mean mother fu*ker anyways, always have. Now all he needs to do is stop being classy in the media and straight up let opponents have it.

yup I think in a way this is good. Blake needs to play angry. He is a physical force and should play like one.

My hope is that he stops trying to be the golden boy/media darling and just unleashes his wrath on the rest of the league. If CP3 and Blake are both playing hard and angry, the Clippers can do great things.

Hopefully all this gives Blake more of an edge. If he adopts a "F*** all of you" mentality he can tap into that enormous potential.

I agree 100 percent. Fu*k being a Golden Boy. I've always wanted him to get meaner. Once he starts seeing that these hard fouls will make other teams think twice.. he will keep doing it until it becomes his game. This is a kid that doesn't know his own strength. He wrestled with Artest and won when fighting for the ball on multiple occasions. Literally threw Artest on his back gripping the ball.

Then I've seen him have no trouble stopping Dwight from backing down in the post on 3 straight possessions. Like Dwight's chicken leg frame didn't even move him an inch. Once he starts using his body as a weapon.... he's going to hurt people.
