kentucky should take this.... Robinson i think will find it hard to score under the rim with jones MKG and davis guarding the paint. I am sold about robinson did he have a bad game or sullinger was just able to defend him. on the other hand i dont see anyone that can guard MKG ... Davis as well would be able to score against Withey. Kentucky is just full of talent .

Sick and tired of Kentucky. It's no fun when one coach just hoardes the recruits and "rents" them for one year while setting them up with their agents.
I wish it would go back to the rule before with H.S. players being allowed to jump straight to the L. OR go with baseball's rule. You either go straight there or you stay three years in college.

It's only going to get worse. The reason Cal couldn't win is because he only had a couple of rental players each year at Memphis. Now that he's getting the proper funding and support at Kentucky, he's going to have 3-4 first round picks every year.

You may be right. But I dont have an issue with it because I dont feel that gurantees them a championship every year. They'll win a significant amount of season games no doubt. But tourney time? Different animal. This Kentucky team is probably the best batch of recruits he'll have because of their high bball IQ, unselfish nature. He wont get that luxary all the time.
Did they change the NBA draft rules under the new CBA? I dont remember. Is it 2yrs or 20yrs because you are eligible?

Same thing they said about your boy Durant. Davis will be fine. Kid is a stud, I expect him to be a 15/10/2 BPG player for his career if he stays healthy. He still has room to grow as a scorer too. I think he'll be like a Lamar Odom with much better defense.

Halftime: Kentucky 41, Kansas 27
Kentucky shooting 53%, Kansas just 33%
For Kentucky: Doron Lamb 12 points, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist 11 points, Marquis Teague 9 points. Anthony Davis 0 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, 3 blocks
FOr Kansas: Tyshawn Taylor 8 points (but on 8 shots), Thomas Robinson 8 points and 6 rebounds (but shooting just 3-of-11), Jeff Withey 5 points (but just 2-of-6), 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 blocks
Davis is making HUGE contributions for Kentucky despite not scoring a point yet.

I think he has offensive talent as well. As a soft touch around the rim, a good jumpshot and he's a really decent free throw shooter, he's just off today and he doesn't really look too worried about that, playing great despite not scoring.

True, if UK was facing 2008 Kansas they probably already choked it away. Gotta give credits to Bill Self this time, hes moving into top 15 coaches in current NCAA list now I think.
easily.
He did good this year. Surprisingly though, KU fans will probably want to run him out of town after this loss. They over-achieved.

Congrats Kentucky, well-deserved NC.
The monkey is finally off Calipari's back. I don't think he's a great coach, but it was just a matter of time before he won as his program gets the best recruits in the country.
Congrats to Kentucky.

Would Ohio State have played or fared better against Kentucky? Curious for anyone that follows or watches College basketball? I had Ohio State winning the whole thing but I didn't have Kentucky in the championship game in my bracket.

UK's 3 titles behind UCLA now. 3 titles is clearly A LOT, but they've won 3 since UCLA's last one.

Maybe. Possibly. They have the best on-ball defender in Craft, and maybe Sullinger could have bullied Davis done low. You don't know. :confusedshrug:

I dont think Ohio State can do better. They may have a better team than KU but Matta is a rather mediocre coach. Let alone with the fact that you cant expect Sullinger to play well against Anthony Davis when he couldnt play well against Thomas Robinson.

Quick question since I'm a newb on the college bball territory. When u say a program spends the most money on scouting what is meant by that? Where does the money go? Expenses like plane tickets to see the recruits? Buying things for the recruits so they can go to your school??

UK finished 38-2, most wins ever. Well, other than Cal's Memphis in 08 who also went 38-2, but those all got vacated.

Everybody knows these players in high school, they are nationally ranked etc. They just know Callipari can get them to the NBA and get them drafted in the 1st round.
Today he proved he's more than just a good recruiter though. Every kid on that team is used to being the man, he got them to play team ball all season and that is quite an accomplishment.

Understandable...so most of the money that a school puts into a program basically goes to the staff and coaches?

Yep. No Mario Clutchmers.
Or Brandon Rush, Sherron Collins, Russ Robinson, Darrell Arthur, Darnell Jackson, or Cole Aldrich. The only player on this Kansas team that would start or even get significant playing time on that Kansas team is Thomas Robinson.

That team was so loaded that Aldrich barely got any PT. Sasha Kaun was the 6th man and he plays on the best team in Europe. I do think Tyshawn Taylor would get some minutes over Russ Robinson.

I can't remember the last time seeing a team as dominant as this year's Kentucky team. To be ranked in the top 15-20 (out of 344 teams) in both offense and defense is quite impressive.
That's when you could feel the game getting away from Kansas. Why Self let them try to run with Kentucky is a little puzzling.
Kentucky's biggest weaknsee this season and throughout the tournament has been transition defense. Indiana kept constatnt pressure on them, and the Hoosiers are no more athletic than Kansas. So conceptually, I can understand.
There's also the factor of Kansas' slow starts, and wanting to show Kentucky they weren't intimidated.
Good strategy, but you have to trust Taylor and Elijah to make the right decisions about when to run. They didn't, forcing the tempo way too much and digging that huge hole.

People get too lost in the Calipari/one-and-done nonsense. This is one of the best college teams I've seen in some time. Unselfish, willing and capable passers, defended hard individually and within the team concepts, take good shots, good FT shooting team, incredible talent with a little veteran leadership mixed in. A masterful coaching job from the day these guys stepped on campus.
It's only going to get worse. The reason Cal couldn't win is because he only had a couple of rental players each year at Memphis. Now that he's getting the proper funding and support at Kentucky, he's going to have 3-4 first round picks every year.
And very rarely is he going to get a group that will play like this one has. People can whine all they want. He out-recruited and out-coached everybody this year.
What should he do? Recruit lesser players? Or should he do a kid a disservice, telling him he should stay in college when it's obvious he shoule go pro?
The straight jump from high school was far more damaging to far more kids than the current rule.
**** Kentucky who turned my $2000 prize into $40. DAMN YOU CALIPARI! DAMN YOU TO HELL.

Nobody has a problem with the players he recruits. It's how he gets them that's a problem.

Where's the problem? Not a single recruiting violation, or violation of any kind that has ever implicated Calipari.
Camby hired an agent, hence the UMass sanctions.
Rose's SAT score was the issue at memphis, something that took place while he was still in high school.

You don't know what you're talking about. Cal has never had a recruiting violation.
The best players are obviously going to want to come play for a program that consistently is in the spotlight and prepares its players better than any other possible place for the NBA.
