Although to be honest CP3 probably deserves more consideration than he's been getting (which is minimal).

I don't understand what's so laughable about Chirs Paul being in MVP talks.

He's making a strong case this season, as well. Might not get it, but to laugh at it... :confusedshrug:

Don't get it either. Take away Lebron's and Durant's insane seasons and CP3 has the award without question IMO yet people are scoffing at it.

That was an awful game by CP. The statline doesnt begin to describe it Afflalo and Miller had him bottled up usually, he got lucky with the refs. And this is from someone who usually defends him. He lost the ball about 10 times to get recovered by teammates, and was just frustrated all game, even statpadded in anger

Agreed. Denver's defense tore up CP3. Referees were pretty bad for Denver.

Bit of a sophomore slump, coupled with his unusually high rookie numbers in comparison.

time to seal the deal at Atlanta tomorrow.

i'm guessing CP3 will put up 30 points again, 10+ assists, 5+ steals, maybe even a triple double :applause:

the game outcome was disappointing, but...

CP3: 34 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, 50% FG, 66% 3PT, 90.9% FT

Griffin: 36 points on 73.91% FG

It's readily apparent how vital Chris Paul is to this team's success. Without him on the floor in close situations, they implode. 0-10 run to lose the game.

And didn't they just have three straight blowout wins over the Grizzlies,Rockets, and...I forget the third team, but I know they won three straight games without Paul.

Look, no one is or should doubt Chris Paul's importance to the team. It's obvious Eric Bledsoe is more SG than PG. But they're still a very deep that has shown they can win and win convincingly without Paul. They've also they can lose to bad or so-so teams (save OKC) without Paul.

As important as he is to the Clippers, though, I don't know how you can look at the seasons Durant and LeBron are having, and say Chris Paul is more MVP worthy than either of them right now. And that's not a knock on CP3, either. LeBron is in his prime and arguably at his peak (or very close at the very least); and Durant is just beginning of what could end up being a top 15 peak all-time. And obviously it goes beyond their stats, because they have an advantage in most of the advanced stats, too (On/Off differential, WS/48, ORtg, DRtg, etc.), albeit a slim one. It's not that Chris Paul isn't having an MVP caliber season, it's just that both Durant and LeBron are having even more ridiculous MVP caliber seasons.

Doc Rivers has done wonders for the big men. He has given them confidence and direction unlike VDN. He shows that he trust his big men. Under VDN, DeAndre Jordan would never have been on the court during the waning minutes of the 4th quarter. Griffin and Jordan have shown improvement and more confidence under Doc. Griffin is playing with his rookie energy and his now much improved skill set. He still has spectacular plays here and there. But most of his scoring doesn't require him to over use his athletic ability.

griffin is actually taking more advantage of his athletic ability. the last two years whenever he got the ball in an isolation he would just try and back down and over power everyone. which works against a lot of players but when he is guarded by strong 7 footers he should use his quickness and just drive by them. which he is doing now a lot. he also has gotten better at making plays in the high post. before he used to just stand around after getting the ball from cp and look for a 3 point shooter. now he attacks the rim and when they leave dj open he throws the alley oop. he is being used a lot more effectively this year. and since he can hit the jumper it opens up a lot, a lot of that is the confidence from rivers, but also the shooting coach.

What's cool is that Griffin was like 8-12 on jumpers. When he's confident that jumper falls.
