I agree with Myth, man. The way First Class was done was WAY better than the way Wolverine was executed. I might even say that it could be the best of all the X-Men films. I'm not the biggest X-Men fan out there but I very much enjoyed that film.

Can't wait! Comes out April 25 here (I assume you're Pinoy too, Magic? haha) and since it's summer I'll definitely watch it on the first day. Was originally disappointed with how the Hulk was handed to Ruffalo (Found Norton to be a somewhat unlikely yet great Banner) but I guess we'll just see how it goes.

And X-Men first class was leagues better than the other X-men movies.

And 1 douche bag just had to ruin the 100%. As far as I'm concerned this movie is still at 100%. The guy who bashed it is just looking for attention because he is a nobody. They really need to have a voting system where if enough people vote down a review it gets removed as a troll review.

This.

And I'll be surprised if The Avengers is better than TDK. I don't see it happening. Based on previews, The Avengers looks like the typical comic book movie where heroes join together, have their struggles being a team, beat the crap out of each other, then join together just in time to defeat the bad guys.

With that said, I hope it's awesome and I can't wait. But it doesn't even come close to the level of excitement and anticipation that I have for TDKR.

This.

They have almost 2 separate themes, just like Iron Man and TDK. One is definitely lighter, the other darker, which is how both superhero characters should be. Imagine if Iron Man was dark and Batman was lighter, yuck.

Speaking of which it was announced that WB had paid Paramount to have the new TDKR trailer premiere in The Avengers!

Looked cheesy to me early on but last trailer I saw looked AMAZING. I'm with Myth that if it can be a top 3 Superhero movie of all time that's a huge accomplishment. No way it tops Dark Knight IMO. Just too much story juggling between all the Superheros. I think Dark Knight Rises will trump this film. That being said.. going to see this opening day if possible.

Saw it last night and u really can't compare it with tdk

Tdk is darker, realistic, serious. It's a drama action film.

Avengers is straight action. I thought it would be hard with all the characters and finding enough screen time. I would give it an 8.9/10, not perfect, it's not something I walked out and thought was absolutely perfect. However it was freaking awesome. The teamwork was just... Amazing

Exactly. Comparing a movie like The Avengers to TDKR would be comparing cake to ice cream - they're both desserts but they are two different kinds of desserts.

I bought my Avengers 3D ticket for next week already.

Reading a lot of reviews now from Bleeding Cool and even Time Magazine that the Avengers in 3D is actually better than 2D, and that the last 40 minutes of the film is a must see in 3D.

Too bad the IMAX 3D is already sold out in my city. :banghead:

don't really give a f*ck for the sequel. Average plot ripped off from transformers, CGI festival, but cool characters who are better in solo movies.

And gotta wait 3 years for hulk? Iron Man 3 also? Then Avengers 2 in 5-7 more years?

All these actors, atleast ruffalo and downey will be pushing grandpa status, and scarlet johansson will just continue her downward descent to not being hot anymore

I also didnt get jeremy renners character, if he has such a perfect eye and marksmanship why is he using a stupid outdated bow and arrow, if he had a sniper rifle he could reload it faster and shoot longer distances+break through armor and not have to hit weak spots like he does with bow and arrow.

Scarlett Johanson was also lame she just runs around in the final battle with two pistols, surely like 100 other people in the marvel universe atleast would be better suited to do that then her.

Replace these two loser characters with legit superheroes and next one can be pretty good.

Watched midnight show. F*uck best super hero or best comic movie ever.

Best movie ever period!!!

The action was unmatchable and had great entertainment along the way
The thing I love about this film is that it didn't try to be as dark and good as a Nolan film, instead The Avengers was so amazing by going the opposite way.

It was just soooooo much fun and entertaining.

It just felt like a real comic book movie.

Seeing it again tonight :)

My favorite superhero ever is Hulk.... does he get his justice in this film? I will probably go see it tonight.
Hulk stole the show.

Each superhero in the film had their own "signature moments" and the Hulk easily had the BEST one.

He also had the BEST line of the film IMHO: ("I'm always angry...(then)") wow, sheer goosebumps!

I also saw the film in 3D. Not needed for 1st hour of the film, but the last hour with all the battles is a MUST SEE in 3D!

P.S.

There are 2 post-credit scenes, 1st in the middle, the 2nd all the way in the end.

Unrelated but for those that seen the film... did you notice...

SPOILER:
(Anyone who read the books notice that at the end during the newscast with the Governor that they could potentially set up a possible Civil War storyline if they wanted to?)

You can't compare a dark "superhero" like Batman to the goofy superheros Marvel writes. In fact as a whole DC comics is much darker/for more mature audiences. I'll be EXTREMELY shocked if this move is as good as Dark Knight. It can be the 2nd best superhero movie ever but will be nearly impossible to top Dark Knight in my eyes which is one of the greatest movies of all time.

Dark Knight was considered runner up to Slumdog Millionaire for the best picture. Are you really saying Avengers is THAT caliber?

Clippersfan86

I can't believe people still suck the Dark Knight's dick so much... One of the greatest of all time? Please...

Just look at the individual acting performances. Multiple worthy actors of winning best actor but in the same film. It's almost unheard of to have that many great performances in one film. The plot itself was obviously amazing.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_dark_knight/

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/

http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

8th highest rated movie of all time on IMDB with about 700,000 votes.

So it's idiotic to call it overhyped or overrated. As I said... it's going to be nearly impossible to top the Dark Knight. Maybe Avengers is more entertaining.... but the better movie? Doubtful.

Who was comparing? My comment said "the exact opposite way".

I don't bother with people trying to always compare films. I'm not a Marvel fan boy, not a DC fan boy, I'm just a comic book fan who appreciates the films they put out.

Just watch their movies and appreciate them for what they are.

They are both good films in their own unique way.

It's cool.

The Avengers and TDKR are the reasons for 2012 being the best summer for movies.

Not impressed with Rises from what I've seen. I just can't get over them casting Bane without any CGI to make him bigger. Then he's supposed to be from the Carribean and instead in movie he's British? He's also supposed to be about 9 feet tall with venom in his system and about 500 pounds. The fact that Batman is nearly his size in this movie is a HUGE turn off.

Where do you live?
California.

We only had 12 cinemas in our theater and all were showing The Avengers at 12:01. We happened to be in 1 of the 2 that only had a 3D showing.

The people seeing the 2D had to wait in line outside, and it went all the way around the building and a couple restaurants. Those of us with the 3D got to wait inside (guess that extra $3 was worth it).

We got in "line" around 8:00-8:30 and just sat there in the lobby with carpeted floors. The whole lobby was just packed with us Avengers 3D ticket holders. Some were dressed up as Captain America, Hulk, Nick Fury (who looked really like him), and a sexy Iron Girl. Oh there was a Spider-Woman too!

To kill time AMC employees played Avengers trivia and gave out pins and posters. We didn't get seated until around 10 pm.

The 3D was good. Not necessary in the first half of the film, but the final half including the last 40 minutes or so is beautiful in 3D. Wished we did IMAX but advance screenings had already been sold out for days.

I still place Spider-Man 2 ahead of this movie.

And it falls just behind TDK too because it drags longer, but the rewatchability of it far surpasses TDK. It's not even close.

But the first act HAS to drag, it's an origin movie, they have to set everything up. I feel like Avengers 2 (barring cast and crew changes between now and then) will blow everything out of the water though.

My only gripes: a bit long, but the surprising humor masked that fact, which is what Transformers TRIED to do but... you know... Michael Bay.

Also I like Jeremy Renner as bad-ass Hawkeye, he fits nicely, but he seems a bit stiff when he has to carry natural dialogue. Also Scarlett just comes off as corny most of the time to me. Could be a script issue too idk.

But everything else was on point AND, this is the best handling of Hulk and his character in any of the Marvel movies.

Same. You CANNOT turn a Carribean, 9 foot tall, 500 pound beast (on Venom drug) into a 6'1 220 pound guy with a British accent PERIOD. I don't give a rats ass about artistic interpretation etc. It's just so far from the core story of Bane that it's hard to take it seriously. I saw footage too so I know for a fact they didn't even CGI or use camera angles to make him look bigger.

Him being smaller than Batman or the same size is a massive turn off to me. Had Nolan done high quality CGI on bane like Hulk got for Avengers... I think it would be far more well received.

I think Joker is definitely easier to translate to the screen because his character is so mysterious and the greatness of the character doesn't depend on a back story. Loki is a great character because of his history which makes it more difficult to create an epic portrayal of him.

Overall, like I rated in another thread, an 8.5/10. Not TDK level, but def in the same tier with Spiderman 2 and Batman Begins. That's just me though.
