What kind of answer are you expecting people to come up with? Take the total amount of NBA players ever, divide it by 2, there ya go. Average ballhandler, why would we be ranking someone's specific ability on an all time scale when they are average at it?

Average my ass....Jordan's usage rate and being the center of every team's opposing defense makes him above average alone.

He was a good effective ball handler. He wasn't all world or flashy. But in my opinion MJ had one of the most effective inside out dribble moves ever.
This is one example.

if he was a bad ball handler, he knew how to hide it well with speed quickness and body control.

He's got humongous hands that makes it easier to handle the ball..

Top level for sure. Not as good as Iverson,Hardaway for sure but for 6'6 SG he was at top level.
His ball handling wasn't flashy like street ballers but very effective. Like Jason Kidd he was able to cross defenders without flashy tricks.

One of the best all time for his size.

Humungous hands doesn't help your dribble, it hurts it. Although it did help him in traffic.

Depends on which MJ
1981-1984 NCAA MJ had "average" ball handles.
1984-1985 MJ had "good" watchful ball handles.
1987-1992 MJ had the best ball handles I've ever seen in the guys ranging btw 6'5"-6'7". I mean, his inside out dribble as some one mentioned left defender frozen. He could go either way left or right just off the ball handles. lacked flashy dribble but had full effortless utility dribble to score at will.
1993-1998 MJ definitely regressed ball handling wise. He was still very effective because of the distance he can create just 2-3 dribbles. This MJ played mostly off the ball as Pippen was primary ball handler.

And Kobe perfected it.

Jordan was the best handling SG/SF of his era ('84-'93). He was fundamentally sound, fluid, and creative with the ball in all situations (few players split pick and rolls with the dribble before MJ, but MJ did it all the time, and could split them with spin-dribbles, behind-the-back dribbles etc.). He had an old school crossover (new school crossover arrived with Allen Iverson) but it was lightning quick. Terrific spin dribble with either hand, terrific in-and-out with either hand, and of course going through the legs fluidly right or left. Jordan could get wherever he wanted to on the floor, and his handle aided in that. It was only when Penny and Hill arrived during MJ's retirement that we saw equal/better ballhandlers (or at least flashier ones - Hill imo however is the best ballhandler above 6'6" of all time).
Interesting fact: Jordan is something like 11th-13th all time among qualified players for fewest TO/gm. He's 21st all time in lowest TO%, and the only first option player that's above him is Dirk Nowitzki, who isn't nearly the volume scorer or passer/playmaker Jordan is. Jordan was incredibly fundamentally sound. Think about it: a career 31.5 pts/5.5 apg player in his Bulls career had the 21st lowest TO% in league history. Crazy. And overlooked.

Depends on if you mean actually handling the ball, which he was the best ever for a perimeter player mainly because of his monster mitts (with Dr. Jay being his only competitor in that department) or if you just mean dribbling, which he was great but nowhere near best ever.

I think his hands were so big that they caused his handles to be awkward. But he was a terrific ball-handler.

I will say that Kobe is undoubtedly a better ball handler than jordan. I think Paul Pierce is too.

There is one thing actually "LOOKING" like a better ball handler
Another is "BEING" a better ball handler.
Kobe is no hand checking, no physical defense era turns the ball over much more than MJ ever did with full physical defense with much better oppositions night in night out.
go figure. :coleman:
Kobe will always be a poor man's "made in italy" knock off of GOAT. :coleman:
trust me, original is still much better.

If we're talking pure handles, then Kobe has better handles than Mike.

pure handles.
WTF is that.
Pure handles dont turn the ball over more often than Mike when not playing against anything remotely close to the "The Jordan Rules" defense. :facepalm

kobe tries to do a lot more with his dribble than michael jordan did. mj was very efficient with his motions whereas kobe likes to use his dribble to break his man down. they're not that similar stylistically in my opinion. kd and dwyane wade have more in common with mj IMO.

Silly question which will be responded to by intellectually dishonest and lazy morons.
