Kings executives will entertain trade offers for Tyreke Evans this summer, and they should.

Evans remains a major asset. His team remains in a major funk. When a franchise finishes near the conference cellar for six consecutive seasons, the general manager needs to make significant personnel changes, or the franchise needs to change its general manager.

But that's an organizational decision.

Evans, who has a year remaining on his contract, has his own decision to make. He has to figure out what he wants and how badly he wants it. He has to determine what kind of player he wants to be and proceed accordingly, essentially controlling what he can control.

I don't think they should. Tyreke and Isaiah Thomas will make a nice a backcourt. The Kings just need to get some more veterans on the team. They also need to start Tyreke at SG and let Marcus Thornton come all the bench as a scorer with Jimmer Fredette.

Amid the rumors, Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie and coach Keith Smart have raved about what they see as Evans' most productive offseason. "I'm tired of everybody talking," Evans said. "I just want to go out there and play and show everybody what I can do. It's easy to talk about it. Now it's time to go out there and do it. I'm excited about the season. I can't wait to show people what I've been working on." Sacramento Bee

Evans has shown flashes in his first three seasons, but not enough to pique Sacramento's interest to give him a deal. The Kings will "probably not" be offering an extension, a source says. NBA.com

If he keeps up his return to form and the Kings can get a PG whos a good defender and a SF who can defend and shoot they have a team that can revolve around Tyreke and be solid, Evans is not the problem its the lack of quailty surronding him atm.
