Amazing how just one clutch game from Kobe last Sunday can make people believe he's been clutch this year. People are dumb.
I think it's probably because he has more style, shots look nicer.

I just trust Melo more is all I'm saying. He's much more clutch. And it's hard not to follow Kobe, since his games are the most talked about. I've watched more Kobe this year than Carmelo. And I'm using past seasons for both players to come to that conclusion.

Kobe was not a great closer this year. He forced shots he no longer consistently makes all the time in the clutch. At one point he was the best in the game, by far, but that is no longer true.
Derrick Rose is just as over rated in the clutch though.

I'm going with what I see and its backed up by stats. For example....Westbrook has been great in crunch time all year. Just by watching nearly every one of his games you would know this, but you clearly didn't watch.
And what do you know...he has great stats.
Dirk, on the other hand, has struggled in crunch time this year...and what do you know...his stats aren't great.

Actually they don't. Because stats say you need at least one other all star or all nba player around a superstar to win.
Literally Duncan in 03, Hakeem in 94, and Dirk in 11 are the only three players to accomplish winning the title without that in the last 30 years.

Kobe Bryant is definitely at the top of the list, but I find it kind of hard to believe that Joe Johnson has yet to be mentioned. He's hit so many clutch shots this season that it's easy to make a case for him as one of the most clutch players in the league.
Wow someone not a Hawks fan gave Joe Credit for being clutch :applause: He's hit as many if not more big shots than anyone in the league this year, BUT HES NOT A SUPERSTAR SO ITS NOT POSSIBLE TO BE CLUTCH. Most people in this thread are just naming the typical responses they would when it comes to clutch players because they just aren't knowledgeable about the subject. Plain and simple.

Since I care more about human nature, I'm going to book mark this link
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1121964-kobe-bryant-vs-kevin-durant-whos-better-in-the-clutch
Not because of basketball, just because it's amazing how despite the writer clearly stating that Durant has been by far the most clutch player this year, and Kobe having not such a good year in the clutch, he still says Kobe is more clutch. And despite Kobe's horrible numbers, 87.6% of the people who voted say that Kobe is more clutch, despite the stats stated. (And yeah yeah yeah, stats lie, so if Kobe missed 28 game winners out of 30, it really meant that he made 28 out of 30. Etc.)
The human nature aspect is what fascinates me. Have a fake personality going out of your way to prove how fearless you are, bravado, and people will eat up, even if you were to miss 100 game winners in a row. I haven't watched Dragon Ball Z in over 10 years, but Hercule pops to mind.

Good call.

28 points (19 shots) on 45/52/91 splits 61% TS.....:applause:

Actually they don't. Because stats say you need at least one other all star or all nba player around a superstar to win.
Literally Duncan in 03, Hakeem in 94, and Dirk in 11 are the only three players to accomplish winning the title without that in the last 30 years.
Next....
stats do say his teams wer great.....he had an allstar caliber Center since his rookie year (Big Z made the Allstar team the year before Lebron)....Boozer was also an allstar caliber player....Ben Wallace was a DPOY caliber player...
Jamison was an allstar, MO Will was an allstar and Shaq...he did play with stars...
according to all the stats LBJ did have great teams/teammates he still found ways to lose....according the stats.
that's the real problem...all your stats to boost Lebron and he still loses.....

it's tired and silly..
once again...Lebron played on 4 GREAT teams capable of winning it all...(3 were favored to win the title and had HCA for the playoff's)..
and he still lost....get your caculator out and tell me why??.....

I haven't even mentioned Lebron...although he was definitely more clutch than Kobe this year.
I don't think any of those Cavs teams were truly capable of winning it all despite how Lebron played.
Last year they were....and Lebron choked. The notion that Lebron has had 4 teams capable of winning the title is absurd to me.
But I don't even care to discuss that. Why are you bringing what Lebron did on the Cavs up in a thread about clutch play this year.
You act like Lebron's clutch stats in the finals were good or something. They were horrible beyond belief. Are those stats worthless as well?

There is a difference between a nice team record in the regular season caused by a one-man-army surrounded with scrubs... and a DEEP actual TEAM that plays team basketball, that have a great bench, where all players complement eachothers games and ran by a fantastic coach............

Kobe sure had that, most of his career... and he never had to go and look for it, he was DRAFTED there to the biggest winning franchise in NBA history...

Kobe wasn't drafted by the Lakers you moron
http://www.unathleticmag.com/wp-content/uploads/pg2_g_kobe_hornets_576.jpg
the reason why Kobe only averaged 16 ppg was becasue he only played 9 minutes in game 2. It's 19 PPG if you remove that game which he sprained his ankle. Higher than prime lebron's :lol . And Kobe had 2 26+ games in that series. Lebron has never scored 26 points in the finals. Also in game 4, '00 finals Kobe scored 8 points in Overtime with shaq fouled out, and won them the game. Lebron has never scored more than 5 points in a 4th quarter in the finals :lol

Because the historic stats hold more weight than regular season stats. How many times must people learn that the regular season and the playoffs are two hugely different games.
If the regular season was a great indication, then certain teams would have dominated the competition. Like the 08 Celtics...why didn't they just blow through everyone in the playoffs?
Regular season stats just aren't a great indication of anything happening in the playoffs.
As usual, the morons, have to make it a black and white issue. Its either all something or none of something. Can't be a middle ground. Its either use all stats or ignore all stats.

What? How could you possibly get that from my post. Stats are a record of what happens in a game.
The are factual. They are not biased. They are objective.
You see. You see Kobe make a shot and you get hard because you love Kobe so much...in your mind, its worth 10 shots of Durant doing the same thing.
So you can't be heard from in debates like this because you are too biased.
Why would it be any different than me claiming Dirk is the best clutch player this year? Dirk has had some absurdly clutch moments and games and has stats very similar to Kobe. Why wouldn't I go nuts about Dirk scoring 21 points in the 4th in a must win game....31 in the 2nd half?
Why? Because I'm at least somewhat objective and can admit when a player I like isn't great at something.
You can't. You can't admit Kobe has no business belonging in a discussion on the most clutch player this year.
