To capture the scoring title. If that means anything to you guys.

Durant (after today): 28.03030303
Bryant (if he scores 38): 28.03389831

Clipper win/loss has nothing to do with the Lakers

04-25-2012, 10:28 PM
The Lakers don't have anything to play for so two outcomes will occur:

Kobe will be forcefed the ball and get plenty of opportunities to win it a la David Robinson in the early 90's

The Lakers will rest some guys and not care.

+25 shots. Regular game for Kobe. He'll try it and he should. Scoring titles aren't MVPs or championships but still great individual accomplishments.

Get it Kobe!! I don't care if we lose the game, its meaningless...I just want him to drop 38. He should take every shoot. Bynum/Gasol should sit though.

04-25-2012, 10:44 PM
38 points against Sacramento would not be very hard for Kobe to do. Have a feeling he'll give it a run in the first half just to see if his shot is on and if things are going, he'll take it on. if his shot is off, he'll sit most of the second half and not give it a run.

If he shoots 45 times he's gonna score 80+ again

Well with the Clipper's lose, the Lakers have clinched the Division title, so essentially they have nothing left to play for. But even then, Kobe has missed like 7 games, and we don't want a rusty Kobe in the playoffs. It's Sacramento, can't be that hard to score 30+. Go get em Kobe!

I wont be surprised if Kobe has like 26 in the first half takes 2 shots in the second and lies about not knowing how many he needed when asked at the end why he didnt go for it. One of those things done just to show he doesnt care and just wants an actual title not a scoring one.

Kobe will get it. I have no doubts. Nothing left to play for, they'll get him the ball and he'll jack those shots up like there's no tomorrow.

Can't say I blame him I guess.. nothing to lose.

EDIT: NVM finished with 32 points in 40 minutes.

Why shouldn't he give it a shot? Just checked the scoring titles history and if I'm not wrong, Kobe will be the 2nd one who gets a scoring title at his 33.

(The first one is Jordan of course btw.)

he should go for it and his teammates should help set him up to go for it. Why not. It's an incredible achievement at any age, what to speak of his 16th year in the league.

Nothing to lose at this point; might as well gun for 50 + points.

i want him to try to get it. but if he is shooting under 30% by halftime, he might give it up.

Only reason you don't go for it is if you want to rest for the playoffs, but Kobe has had a bit of a break with his shin injury. I say jack it up Mamba! I wouldn't blame him for giving it a go. It's a meaningless game otherwise.

I think he should bring back the mask for this game too. Masked Mamba 2012 Scoring champ

He probably won't play much.

The game doesn't mean anything and I bet Mike Brown and their coaches would want to give Ebanks and Barnes a bunch of minutes so they know who to give all of Artest's minutes to in the first 6 games of the playoffs.

Good point, whether or not Kobe gets the scoring title is up to Mike Brown. Because if he plays full minutes, my money's on Kobe getting it.

It'd be hilarious if Sacramento decided to cockblock him and just load up on him all night. Mike Brown might even take him out out of fear of injury.

Barnes got hurt in the last game, I think they'll probably rest him against the Kings.

I get the feeling Kobe is only going to play 2 quarters tomorrow, if at all.

I'd go for it if I were him. He was number 1 in PPG all year, why not finish the damn thing off? Durant would do the same thing if he got the last shot at it in a meaningless game. I don't understand people that act like it would be some kind of a crime if he went after it. Hell, Robinson scored 71 in the last game of the 1994 season to take the title. What's the big deal?

I'll be watching this legend go for it. I really want him to finish the season by scoring 60. Just to prove he's still the most deadly scorer in the NBA despite being 33 years old with like 16 or 17 seasons on his legs.

Honestly I think he does. He is all about winning, and the scoring title is just yet another thing to win, another trophy to add to his accolades. There are people out there like Kobe who just have to win anything they can get their hands on.

Yeah, that'd be supa trolling, but funny. Because that game doesn't matter and if Kobe starts gunning they're like NO.

Kobe will have like 35 assists but still lose the scoring title. lol, it would be hilarious, on that note, if he somehow set the NBA assist record during that game.

But more than likely they'll just play normal and Kobe will get 40.

i don't care if the lakers lose the game, and they obviously just bring the ball up every possession and give it to kobe, i wanna see him in full chuck mode, the d fense will tighten up on him hopefully trying to stop him from getting it so i'd love to see kobe just have a game to just shoot

Two possible bad outcomes:

One would be that he goes all out and doesn't get it. Super embarrassing.

The other would be that he gets injured trying to do shit he shouldn't be doing.

I really think Kobe should just let it slide.

But I'm not like Kobe. When I ball, I want to psychologically dominate the opponent. I don't care about stats.

Here is what will or should happen:

Lakers sit all their starters except Kobe. Trot out a lineup of Jordan Hill, Troy Murphy, Ebanks, Kobe, Steve Blake.

Kobe shoots a lot in the first. If he's hot, just go for it. If not, sit him the rest of the game.

Done and done.

If Kobe wins the scoring title, he would be the oldest player since MJ to do it.

MJ won it at 33, 34 and 35

Kobe is slightly older than MJ at 33 years.

Kobe will be going up against Marcus Thornton and Tyreke Evans. I'm pretty sure Kobe can drop 30 on these cats. If he wanted to, he can drop 40 on them cats.

Do I want him to do it? **** it, why not. Get it Kobe

To get into playoff shape? He did miss some significant time w/ his shin injury. I'm hoping he plays to go for the scoring title.

Also, Mike Brown isn't sitting Gasol and Bynum. Gasol and Bynum both decided they want to rest. Coach is leaving it up to the players to decide and I'm not surprised Kobe isn't sitting. Dude earns every cent he is paid.
