yeah, obvious foul, and legitimate first reaction. maybe not a flagrant 1, but still a hard foul

Are we really at the point where we're blaming players for how they fall after getting fouled ?

I dislike players who fake fouls as much as anyone, but this was clearly a foul.

If you want to blame Lebron for flopping, there are legit examples out there, but this isn't one.

Yeah, and Lucas is a man and gets back up.

LeBron obviously plays up the hit, then rolls around on the floor like someone axe-handled him in the back of the head. Then wanders around for 5 minutes grimacing and cringing so the cameras can see how "hurt" he is.

His Flop Instincts kicked in before the actual affects from the whiplash...This is why flopping needs to be eliminated and techs handed out for doing it.

These players are flopping by nature. I do believe the hit Chandler gave him tweaked his neck a tad but his reaction looked completely fabricated foolish and a mockery of competition

When you see it in slow motion like that(must be where some of you are getting the "3 seconds later" thing from) it does look like a flop, but when you see it real time it really doesn't. Or, rather, in real time it's hard to even notice the flop because it happens so fast.

DonDadda59

Don't know why he felt he had to bust out the theatrics. It was a legit hard foul, no need to turn it into a melodramatic exhibition. Guess flopping is just a part of his identity.

I don't think he even had time to think about it. That hit to the perceived flop plays out in like 0.3 seconds in real time. Which would make it more instinctual than anything. "Instinctual flopping." LOL

yeah. try playing a pickup game and running into a hard screen from someone at least 225 lbs... it's a pretty big impact.

i think in this situation bron got hit hard and felt like he deserved a call... so he made sure he got the call by waving his arms. if you get hit hard and just stand your ground you might not get the call.

A flagrant foul was called for that?

It's a foul but refs should know better (if refs actually saw the play). Lebron is a big boy, he cant be as hurt as he made it out to be with such a relatively flimsy contact.
That is one funny looking flop though, i give him props for a laughs. His body apparently took a sec to figure out that the contact didnt warrant a normal flop reaction since he was legitimately got hit this time around.

Myth
04-28-2012, 11:49 PM
his 2nd reaction makes no sense.. why flail ur arms twice? and the 2nd time (no contact) is more exagerrated than the 1st? wtf?

I think what happened is that LeBron has trained himself to flop whenever there is contact. So he exaggerates without having to think much about it too much whether the hit was legit or not.

Sequence of what happened
1. Hit jarred Lebron
2. LeBron flailed his arms out of habit of flopping
3. LeBron realized that it legitimately hurt his neck

Myth
04-28-2012, 11:51 PM
A flagrant foul was called for that?

I think there was some intention behind Tyson's hit. He was trying to get into LeBron's head and let LeBron know he can be hit at any moment so LeBron better watch his back. Tyson hit him with a fairly tough screen the play before too, so the refs may have took that into consideration and thought it was intentionally a hard hit.

I guess that makes some sense. But looking at that gif, it doesnt look like it warrants a flagrant foul call. Cant blame the refs every time though. Its hard to get every call right as it is, adding in player's acting makes it even harder.

I thought you were suppose to be set for at least a few seconds. You can't just run in front of someone at the last second and call that a legal screen. Which is what Lebron did, he pretty much shoulder checked Lucas at the last possible second.

ive never heard that before, you just have to have your feet set before the impact, and keep them set through the impact

on the chandler screen, he steps into bron a little

thing is, in the halfcourt, in a regular pick and roll, where the defender sees the screen coming, the screener would get away with moving even more than chandler did, regularly. garnett moves more on screens every game, then chandler did on that screen.

I have played a lot of hockey and football, among other sports, and trust me this hit is far from what I'd call a hard hit. The way his neck snaps is normal, only in cases of concussion, the neck snap is important because it can cause whiplash effect, but in any other situation a neck snap, just like a head snap is completely normal and very common. It has no other negative side effect, in most cases no pain whatsoever is felt in the neck or head area. What Lebron did was what soccer players always do after somebody hits them in the chest or back, they grab their heads or necks to embellish the contact and to get a more severe call going their way.
