It might be ninth or tenth, and that puts it behind a shitload of leagues, and thousands and thousands of players.

Competes for talent versus Philippines, Korea and Japan leagues (Not China or Europe), nothing to write home about, and limitations on import players hurts.

It is far superior to the Chinese Basketball Association, and way way more advanced than Philippines, Korea and Japan leagues. The elite european and south american leagues have it covered though.

I bet you haven't wached a NBL game in the last 5 years, the league is one of the better competitions after the NBA and Euroleague, the problem is they don't pay the players enough.

I love Patty Mills but he led the league in minutes played and averaged something like 17 and 4 in the NBL, you would expect a NBA caliber player to dominate harder than that if the league was that bad.

When he played against Damian Martin (2 time DPOY) he scored 6 points on 2-13 shooting from memory and his team lost by 20.

The NBL is much better than people think.

The Perth Wildcats played the Shangai Sharks last preseason and won the game 66-23. The Sharks shot 16% from the field.

Im pretty sure Patty Mills averaged 30 a game in the CBA.

I have actually. I really do try to follow it but it's so boring I lose interest quickly, doesn't help that I'm STILL bitter about SEM Magic but the league is still shite.
They can't pay anyone cause the league was retarded and sign exclusive rights with Foxtel all those years ago alienating the majority of the fanbase in the process, so the league died (remeber it literally nearly did die). Finally getting back on free to air now is too little too late.

For the record Mills as 19 and 5 playing mostly SG in the NBL but we both know he's very streaky and torched afew teams badly.

And that's not a knock on the level of basketball in Australia, it's more that the league isn't lucrative for good foreign players whereas top level teams in some of the lower leagues in Europe will still shell out a lot of money for good players. Take for example BC Astana in Kazakhstan, they'd probably be the best team in the NBL but are a mediocre team in the VTB league.
