So I was playing around with Google and got this.

So I'm wondering, why do people hate Nickelback? I'm not really a fan of them, I only heard maybe 2-3 songs, Far Away, If today was your last day, and something else I can't remember, and they're pretty good. Just a little more pop, but I had to say "if today was your last day" was pretty good.

Simple: haters gonna hate. If you hate Nickleback yet enjoy listening to Rick Ross or dubstep, then you have no valid argument for hating on Nickleback.

Nickelback is fine with me. They're just too "mainstream" so most rock fans hate them. Kinda like how rap fans are with the more mainstream rappers.

supposedly the lead singer or maybe its their whole band are complete assholes. i know i read something awhile back with people they've toured with, music fans that met them, or something along those lines saying the lead singer was a huge dikkhead.

Article from Grantland about this (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7846322/taking-concert-doubleheader-creed-nickelback-world-most-hated-bands)
The group's strength is that they understand the tropes of classic rock (both musically and philosophically). The group's weakness is their obsession with transposable power ballads, most of which sound like what would happen if Bob Rock helped Coldplay write a really loud song for Garth Brooks (which would undoubtedly be the most popular song in the history of mankind, were it to literally exist). The one transcendent Nickelback song is the semi-acoustic "Rockstar," a dilemma for all those who want to erroneously pretend that Kroeger has no sense of irony. "Rockstar" has a faultless construction — it's simple, true, sarcastic, and aspirant. I suppose those four qualities also describe Nickelback, which is another reason why humorless people will always hate them.
But hey: That's their role. That's their job. They've created, they've created, they've created, they've created, they've created, they've created their own prison. And it's probably awesome, or at least close enough.

They're simply generic and clearly don't write their own songs. Have you heard some of them? You listen to one about treating the girl of your dreams the best way and then you listen to another one about hardcore sex.

I don't hate them, nor do I love them.
They're a safe middle of the road band that doesn't suck per se, but also isn't great. I guess people hate them because they get tons of airplay.
If their song comes on I won't necessarily cringe, there are far worse artists out there. I guess it's just cool and hip to hate on them.

Nickelback is awesome. I never understood music snobs. They want everything to be "classic" sounding. I listen to pop, rap, rock.. but also classic rock, golden oldies, 20's big band, throw in some jazz. Whatever sounds good brah! And Nickelback has some songs with real feeling. The lead singers voice and the instruments convey emotion. I definitely feel some of their songs in my chest when I listen, and that my friend is called Soul ;)
Note: I'm white so my views on soul may or may not reflect the views of the black community

I think it is because they have a very cheesy sound, and their songs have no depth. They are accomplished musicians, but their music has the aroma of aged cheese. Also, rock and roll as a genre has suffered in the last decade, and artists who are not progressive and trying new things are gonna sound wack.
Personally, I have no feelings towards them, but would never choose to listen to them.

If how you remind me came out in 1969 you'd think it was classic, just admit it..

Bullshit. Nickelback is nothing but lame-a$$, homogenized, wannabe grunge rock and they should be destroyed.

No, and for the record I think hating on Nickelback is trendy and a cheapshot you can get away with, but I disagree with this.
If 'How You Remind Me' was their only single they might be better loved by the haters, but the fact they followed it up with similar song after similar song makes them a bit lame.
It is a good song, but when added to the rest of their catalog, it is cheapened and the band is exposed.

I see what you're saying, except for the "it is cheapened and the band is exposed" bit.
I don't care about a bands entire catalog. It's like, Vince Carter totally sucks now, but in 2001, he was awesome. When it comes to music, I don't judge 2001 Vince Carter for 2012 Vince Carter. Who cares if Nickelback ended up being repetitive and silly? Just pick out the good stuff and move on..
The last 3 Eminem albums aren't as good as the first 3. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't cheapen anything. I can still listen to those first 3 albums with no hesitation. Other people don't think that way I guess.

It is homogenized, mass produced, music studio beef. I just put it in a different class than old school stuff. The Doors and The Temptations "speak" to me, but Nickelback every now and then is allowed to get a word in ;). I don't think they're a classic band by any means, but how you remind me, photograph, someday, figured you out, hero... they're bumpable songs as far as I'm concerned ;)

Generic, sanitized, radio-friendly, mother-approved pop rock crap. No substance whatsoever.
The powers that be know that they have to sprinkle in a little rock with all the bubble-gum pop and hip hop, so that's where a band like Nickelback comes in.

Do people really hate them because they make awful music? Katy Parry and Jason Derulo make awful music too but i don't see many people hating them.
Even Maroon 5, who are a million times worse than Nickelback, is listed as a rock act and they get less hate. Maybe its because the lead singer looks like a douchebag or maybe its just a popular internet fad.

My BIL is into everything top 20 (yes my sister married a fggt) and every time I used to get in his car he'd start playing Nickelback thinking I'd enjoy it since I like rock music. People like that don't realize that NB made about the most generic mainstream alternative music anyone could of. I refuse to believe anybody could make music blander than them. To top it off they're apparently all douchebags.
