View Full Version : How much do you think Shaq makes?
After making over 300 million (minus endorsement deals) what the hell kind of salary can TNT offer Shaq? Dude probably wipes his ass with the salary he gets as a TV analyst.
Must be strange going from seeing millions every month added to your account for almost 20 years and then going to a TV salary.

There is no way Shaq makes more than Charles at TNT.

barkley is getting 'mid-7 figures' per year according to this

there was something of a bidding war between espn and tnt to get shaq, and his deal with tnt includes more than just basketball....don't know if he's getting more than chuck but it might be close

The deal with Turner to be a full-time analyst also includes a development deal with its entertainment and animation networks

money is money and i'm sure shaq enjoys what he does or he wouldn't be doing it.
If you wanted to put a camera to my face every weeknight I'd talk to you about basketball with my friends for free.
Ex-wifey took half of whatever he made during his career. :lol
His agent took a good 10% too, I bet.
Gotta keep that cash flow going, even if it's a $1 million TV contract (which is a lot to us normal folks).

From what I've heard though Shaq has been pretty smart with his money. His folk's brought him up that way. I remember hearing somewhere that he didn't spend any of his (and I can't remember which one) endorsement money or team contracts. So if that's true, that money would have been put in investments and the like, so he'd have a boatload of cash still. Plus he's still on endorsements and the like.

Hmm, well I remember when Charles Barkley was on Letterman, and the topic was about whether Barkley might go back to college to finish the degree he was working on when he was playing at Auburn. He was asked if he was going back, and here's his exact quote.

People like Shaq don't really do it for the salary. They do it because they want to be around basketball in any type of way. Think about it. You spend 90% of your life dedicated to basketball, then you have to retire. Lol it's like a drug and these guys need their fix. For example, Magic Johnson is a multi millionaire, yet he spends some time as an analyst for ESPN. Basketball makes them happy. I guess the expression "money doesn't buy happiness" can be used for these guys.

This. Magic probably has enough cash for several Scrooge McDuck-sized silos, but he's on TV because he loves the game and wants to still have some part of it. For all his laziness, I have no doubt that Shaq loves the game and still loves being involved in it in any capacity. It's not for the pennies that TNT can offer him.
