Man, I wish a player I loved would fire a shot like this. I love these little jabs. It makes the game 100X better and anybody who gets upset over these comments are foolish. We need more talk. These players thrive on it. Check out the NHL for great examples of that.

If so, that means Gasol and Bynum are scoring lots of points.

Where's the shot?? Harden IS a backup.
The shot is that there's no reason to be an a-hole about it, particularly towards someone you just elbowed in the back of the head and got a fairy-light suspension over.

Then again, we're talking about a guy who asked his teammate after the Palace brawl- "do you think we're gonna get in trouble for this?"

Some people need to have their hands held and things explained to them very slowly. That seems to be the take-home, here.

I'd take that "back up" over the "starter" Ron Artest, any day of the week...including Sundays.

But let's see how Ron Ron's head games affects James Harden and The Thunder.

I'd laugh if Scott Brooks started Harden in game 1 and then took him out at the first dead ball. Would be interesting to see what would happen before the tip-off.

Ron should really STFU, but obviously he won't. Harden should go hard at him all game. If Ron pulls any crap, refs will run him quick.

Ehh...its kind of weird to say things like this when the "substitution" is 100x better than you as a starter but...whatever Ron.

It's not the nice thing to say but if Artest is going to help LA win he can't be in a conciliatory frame of mind. Unfortunately for Artest this is a double-edged sword, because
Harden should go hard at him all game. If Ron pulls any crap, refs will run him quick.
Is also true. Assumiong Harden isn't intimidated by the past he should go right at Artest.

Artest is funny. I can't really hate him for being real. He says things from his mind, not saying what he should say to the media. Yesterday's interview.

I think the above quote is misleading since Harden is a sub.

From ESPN:

The mercurial Lakers forward went on to say that the entire Thunder team has a habit of ignoring the common NBA ritual of showing mutual respect before tipoff with a handshake or fist pound.

"I shake everybody's hand before the game, but Oklahoma City, they don't shake hands," World Peace said. "Only some of them, but I don't think they really shake hands before the game. Kendrick Perkins and now (Russell) Westbrook don't shake hands either. (Russell) used to shake hands, but now he don't shake hands anymore."

World Peace said that his failed handshake attempts with Perkins date back to the 2010 Finals when Perkins was a member of the Boston Celtics.

"I used to go and shake hands," World Peace said. "I've been playing against Kendrick forever. Kendrick, he'll never shake your hand so I'd have to go and find Kendrick and shake his hand. In Boston, every game I'd have to go to him and say, 'Hey,' and then tap him on the butt. He don't touch my hand. But, I'm getting tired of making that walk."

Where's the shot??

Harden IS a backup.

He begins the game on the bench. He is an infinitely better player Ron Artest. I suppose Manu is a back up too? Backing up Danny Green?

50inchvertical
05-13-2012, 09:33 PM
He is right about Perk and Westbrook. At least, they don't go out of their way to shake your hand. If you approach them, they'll dap and half hug it out, but Russ stands way underneath the opposing basket as the other team walks on the court, and Perkins stands even further away in the corner with his jersey untucked.

Ironically, after and during the game, I think the Thuner are too kind to their opponents. They're very commonly helping somebody up after fouling them, walking over and apologizing, and always give hugs and kisses after the game to the other team, win or lose

People are trying to make drama where there isn't any. Ron wasn't trying to mock him for being a bench player. All he did was state that the only people he shakes hands with before games are the starters before tip off. He doesn't go over to the opposing bench and seek out other players to shake hands with.

He also added that he trys to shake hands with the OKC players but guys like Perkins and Westbook refuse to do it. Some people are like bitches. They love stiring up drama that isn't there. Ron is probably the realist dude in the NBA. If he wanted t o fire a shot at someone he would come right out with it and say f**k that n****.

One, he's telling the truth. Players generally don't go over and shake the hands of bench players. Two, Artest is a moron, and anyone who thinks he purposely said that to rile up the Thunder is an idiot. Three, why does this even matter? There is no bad blood between these two teams that didn't exist prior to that incident. The only people who seem to care about that play are fans. Go figure.

You're incredibly naive if you think the players don't care about a guy giving their teammate a concussion.

Yawn. "Concussion" that he didn't miss any time over, didn't play any worse, and looks better than ever coincidentally.

You dont think Perk and Ibaka at the very least have bad blood towards Artest? Harden seems like a nice enough guy to brush it off and play on but those two will definitely be headhunting a bit as the series goes on. I think were gonna see a lot of scraps in this series.

I'm also telling you that the non-concussion shouldn't be riling up the fans.

Yeah, his series-clinching performance against the Mavs really showed how damaged he is.

Good god you're dense. You think a competitive player is going to miss games with a fake concussion? That's absurd.

Concussions don't make you a retard. lol. It's laughable that you think a minor concussion would somehow hinder his basketball skills.

Like I said, awfully stupid.

Man, I love MWP. He says exactly what's on his mind. :applaud: These days, NBA players compliment one another a bit too much.

"Oh, yeah, Kobe dropped 40 on us. He's the best player in the league."

What they should be saying is: "Oh, yeah, Kobe dropped 40 on us? **** that *****."

I miss the days of trash talking NBA games. Sure, I was a young'n when those games still existed, but they were fun to watch.

I hope MWP calling out Harden like that only adds intensity to the series.

Let's go, LAL.

Asked if he will shake hands with Harden this series..

"I don't shake hands with substitutions".

"I don't shake substitutes' hands" was the actual quote.

What you said sounds really dumb. I know it's Ron Artest, but come on. Give the guy a little credit.

Is English your first language?

MJ(Mean John)

Ron is just talking shit.

Dude is from Queens.

They asked him about the elbow incident and if he had contacted Harden about it and his response was no. Not because he's an asshole but because

"We're about to play them. This is basketball. Im not trying to call him and make friends. We are about to war with them. Im trying to beat him.
Not be his friend. I called a third party to find out if he was okay. Im not going to call him. I'm trying to beat him"
(Not an exact quote, just summing up what Ron was saying)

So if they ask Ron if he'll shake his hand, he has to keep it gangsta. He won't say "yeah"

He wants to keep that intimidation up. He wants to keep that mentality for himself and for the whole okc team.

TheStarting5ive
05-14-2012, 05:34 PM
What is this "he's from Queens" shit about? Who gives a damn??

The only people impressed by that are people not from here. Queens doesn't even claim Ron Artest. Neither does my alma mater. We're ashamed. Ya'll can have him.
