Yep....that was nuts. But our fans suck. The ones who can afford to go are to rich to cheer...then there's fans like me that can't go because work and the fact I have to waste an easy 1000 per game buying tickets only. The real fans are making noise from the 400 section. I went to game one of heat vs Knicks and wasted 800 on 3 tickets in section 112.

They look like cornball automatons. Only small market teams would do this. NY, LA, or Chicago would never ask their fans to do this. The only reason Miami does their "White Out" is to try to make it seem like like the arena is packed, and it fails miserably.

Almost every team has been doing this this playoffs, even the Clippers last game. It's not a small market thing. With the amount the NBA jacks up prices for the playoffs anyways, it doesn't hurt them to "give" fans a shirt, which the bill is foot by sponsors anyways and only costs $2.25 to print.

Oklahoma has the best atmosphere and fan support in the sport. Who would have thought a place like OKlahoma would be so incredibly good for the NBA?

This is great to see. The NBA TV ratings in Oklahoma are dominate. The Thunder have really hit a home run! Congrats to the fans of OKC. As a Celtics fan I am jealous of the tremendous vibe that's in your building and can be found no place else in the sport.

Last nights game was beautiful to watch. Thanks to the fans it was a television spectacle! And did you see the people outside of the stadium? Amazing!

Well watching the Hornets when they were here, and still being loyal when the Thunder started 3 and 29 under PJ Carlissimo is how we got the team. Besides, if all you assholes are correct, "there's nothing to do in OKC" so by that logic, we would always sell out the arena, right?

It's odd to compare a crowd to a cult, but if you want to go there...why does wearing the same colored shirt put them over the edge?

They are all watching the same thing in silence, cheering at appropriate times, gasping when something bad happens... clapping, standing up... etc.

I think that's just what it's like when you have a large group of people get together to do one thing. It could be church or bball...

and of course other teams have fans that aren't really immersed in the game, but does that mean they are somehow intellectually superior?

I don't know. I have a hard time immersing myself in a game these days, but if I'm at a game and I really like the team/care about them getting a win, I am going to be totally into it.

Fans think of it as their job; so if their fanbase is a cult, the team or, maybe even, the marketing department is the leader.

Oh well, they aren't saying stuff like... KILL... it's just get loud.

Shirts don't equal cult. It's the way crowds like OKC+Portland act. They act like they flat out worship the team. They cheer for every little thing to the point to where it can be obnoxious. Then crap like piling up outside of the stadium with hands together in prayer? Just creepy shit like that.

It's fanatical devotion. They love their team.

It's more like college bball crowds.

I think it adds to the game. It's like playing football in the snow... a crazy crowd really does change the dynamic.

You're such an idiot. Nobody outside of the arena is praying. People are looking up because the screen is situated near the top of the arena.

Isn't the goal of having a pro sports franchise, for fans to support it by buying tickets, cheering, buying merchandise, etc? Hilarious people try to rag on OKC for it.

Guess we should just show up late, be generally apathetic, only half fill the arena up even in the playoffs like teams in Atlanta and Indianapolis.

Not saying it's "wrong" or anything. Just creeps me up and that's where the cult comparisons come in.

You guys fu**ing say a prayer before games. How much more cult like can you get than that? Only pro sports team that does that.. that i'm aware of. Not a personal attack to say OKC fans are cult like. Blazers fans and even Memphis fans at times give me the same vibe.

As I said.. nothing wrong with it but don't deny it's abnormal.

Dude don't accuse Indana Pacers of having bad playoff team. We 1-1 with the Miami Heat now. And our fans is very good. Top 10 fans in the NBA.

Religion in itself is a cult I would agree, but I apply that across the board; songs, chants, ranking structure, Gods and dieties, afterlife, "faith" based, archaic beliefs with no basis in reality, robes, ceremonious food consumptions representing cannibalism, and the like.

It's a very basic prayer, like 30 seconds. It's literally, "God we come to you thanking you for all you've done for us and all you are going to do. We ask that you bless our soldiers at war, bless these athletes and all those in attendance with traveling mercy as they go home, it is in your name we pray." I agree it's weird, it's a waste of time, I'm as nontheist as they come and don't "participate."

Bible belt state I guess, I don't know whose decision it was to come up with it. But at the same time, it's not at all a big deal.

You were the one on here in such denial that the Clippers are a bunch of floppers trying to convince the other 99% of the world who knows it to be true, otherwise.

Yea man...praying before the game thing just plain creeps me out. I go to the games, I drink beer, get rowdy. Not to say a prayer. And I pray everynight and mornings. But before a game basketball game? Not the time and place for a prayer.

Yea it's a bit creepy. I have a feeling if I showed up to an OKC game in Clippers gear and made a ruckus they would put me down like good old rufus. Hog tie my ass and shoot me in a field. No joke.

When is a logical time for prayer though? It's a complete waste of time. People pray for someone who has been in an accident or something, then that person "pulls through" with only a broken neck, paralyzed, and they all praise how great God and his grace is. Well, if he was that great, he could have just made you not get paralyzed to begin with, right? Allegedly, he is all powerful and omnipotent, right? How does dude get ALL credit for everything positive and no blame for any negative? How is he even considered the "good" of the 2 between him and Satan, when Satan killed 10 people in the Bible and he killed well over 3,000,000?
