View Full Version : Is Mickey Mitchell the next white NBA Superstar?

http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/142887/mickey-mitchell
Rated as the #2 player in the Class of 2015.
Age: 15
Height: 6'6
Weight: 210lbs
Strengths:
He is skilled, athletic and plays very hard offensively. Mitchell's skill level, strength and athletic ability separate him from the competition. The lefty has great size. He is a great creator off the dribble and is an exceptional passer.
Weaknesses:
He can shoot with range to 17 feet but needs to improve his consistency.
Bottom Line:
The best freshman we have seen so far and that is the consensus from almost everyone. The question will be football or basketball (supposedly a big time QB).
The White LeBron?

>The question will be football or basketball (supposedly a big time QB).
He will be a bust. He who doesn't specialize in college won't do shit in the major leagues.
Like the guy Brady played with in college who was a Baseball and Football star. Never amounted to anything.

Why is our savior always ugly? Dirk, Griffin etc?
Hope he picks BBall would be great. When was he measured? 6'7 and 210 lbs is impressing for his age.
Griffin has a fully Black father.

The next "the next larry bird" Adam Morrison
The next "the next larry bird" Adam Morrison
But this guy isn't a shooter.
He's a legit athletic, slasher type who is working on improving his range.
He could be 6'8/240lbs by the time with those same skills by the time he's ready for the NBA Draft. Just think that he's only 15 and at 6'6/210lbs is the size of a protypical NBA SG.

man can you guys wait until he gets to college, I honestly hate when people hype up or evaluate High School Players. Wait to see what the do in College first, Drummond looked like Shaq mixed with Magic Johnson in HS. Let the kid grow up.

To be fair, Josh McRoberts was deemed as the next great white hype coming out of high school (he was a top 3 recruit) and look at how he turned out. After 5 seasons, he has career averages of 4.6 ppg and 3.7 rpg.
That said, no real speculation about how good he'll be in the NBA should be made until he plays a season of college basketball.

Why can't be just be the next great player? Deeming him the next great white player does nothing but marginalize his talent into a particular group of people. Why does this still matter to anyone?

Because guys like Andrew Wiggins and Jabari Parker are much better prospects. Especially Wiggins.
Therefore, to still use "the next great so and so", or whatver, you have to reduce the qualifications.
This boy is the NBA's savior; not that the association needs one right now.

Then he shouldn't be called the next great anything, unless someone really believes he is the next great player.

I saw this kid play recently and I'm extremely impressed. He's very athletic and already has a lot of advanced offensive skills for a wing player. He'll almost definitely grow a few more inches and if he can retain his explosiveness and keep improving his perimeter skills, he could be the number one recruit in his class in a few years.

Only people from outside the state of Indiana thought McBob was going to be elite. Those who grew up here, watched him get absolutely dominated by OdenxConley, Gordon, Teague etc knew he was a future bench contributor at best.

pretty much this, at least wait till senior year. i dont bother paying attention to anybody before then
although many of drummond's issues, were sussed out in high school
even back then people questioned his toughness, and mentality

And how useful it's been for his career to be built like a RB... :lol
Has range up to 17 feet? So basically pack the paint and watch him suck lmao. The highlights show him making 1 shot outside of 3 feet with no floaters or any real moves of any kind... you think this kid will just be able to get to the basket at will and finish like that? Now I will say the highlights show only what they show so maybe he does have more game but I'm not that impressed by this. It's only impressive because he's white and making flashy passes and dunking. Seems like he thinks he has some swag tho and that will take you far if you have some talent

by who?
He's not exceptionally athletic, but he's very crafty. He really needs to get a stronger base, he took some stupid shots that a big time college shot blocker will swat out of there. Those fadeaways in the post - stupid ass shots.
I would think this guy can be great, but he needs to continue to up his skills, and he really needs to develop his shot.

There's not a consensus #1 pick right now but Cody Zeller, at this point, is in the discussion. A guy like Nerlens Noel may have the most upside, and Muhammad, may be more NBA redy from day one, but Zeller is in the discussion.

by who?
A lot of mocks. #1 pick is basically a 4 man race between Nerlens, Shabazz, Cody, and McAdoo. Nothing is guaranteed AD wasnt even the projected top pick last year it was all about Drummond. Their college play will decide it but remember that Cody is entering his Sophmore season and his extremely gifted post up skills, footwork, strength, and his already pretty good jumpshot will get better. McAdoo is going to be a sophmore too but Cody is already a better college player than him. Nerlens and Shabazz will have to adjust to college also.
