been actively playing for the last 8 years. tonight i decided to hang up the basketball shoes in order to be more productive and accomplish goals i have for myself. This will be good for me immensely , since whenever im bored or doing something productive ill stop doing whatever im doing and use basketball as instant gratification, without it i wont have any distractions. Threw the basketball shoes away into the lake at the park, kissed the courts goodbye. maybe ill revisit basketball again later in life, but for now its time to move on.

ill probably stay away from here also, ill come back to ish when d rose returns.

Thanks for listening to all my jazz, till next time fellas

I need to do the opposite, and find more time to lace up my basketball shoes.

Well then you better jump into the lake and get his basketball shoes.

Basketball is a great way to stay in shape and amazing for the heart. Not sure why you would give up some quality exercise like that, it's not like you are addicted to video games.

just moderate yourself with it and you'll be fine.

Righto. That's the great thing about being a basketball player. I think about that all the time. People who love football can't really head down to the field and play pick-up football for exercise all the time. Baseball players often require a softball league. Hockey players require a neighborhood full of roller bladers.

Basketball players are fortunate in the fact the game seems to always be accessible. We're lucky. We get to play the game we love and it doubles as awesome exercise. It's the best of both worlds. As long as I'm healthy, I can't see myself giving up the game so I can just go jogging around the block more often or something.

I sometimes cut out of work early so I can get to the gym and play basketball.

Why not work on your goals, and play sometimes? :confusedshrug:

Wow, I can't believe someone actually finds exercising to be a waste of time. Exercise: that's what basketball is. It's a fun way to exercise. Even if you're on the court by yourself, shooting J's all afternoon, it's still an exercise.

I like how many times I used the word "exercise."

Good luck to you with whatever you do.

I actually want to play more basketball, but my job makes that almost impossible. You're lucky that you've got the choice to play or not.

Exactly my thoughts. Since when is getting fresh air and doing something you love (that's also beneficial to your overall health and well-being) a bad thing that you need to avoid? Hell, just shooting some free throws is a great way to clear your head. Almost some zen-like shit.

but dude, basketball might be the only thing that keeps you in shape as you get older. i feel like i can escape reality (not that i have that many problems, but still minor ones) whenever i step onto the court. i realized i still have passion for the game, it just hurts more in the morning after i play. dont give up bro, miss you xoxo

I bet that helps with your goals. Put me in the footnotes of your obituary.

Why does anyone have to quit playing basketball as a hobby? It's a good way to stay in shape. Everything in moderation.

I started playing basketball again in 2010 after a 2 years hiatus. I really love this game I have been playing this game since I was an 8 yrs.old kid in 1995.

I always said I'd have to be carried off the court, which I was three months ago. And now all I want to do is figure out how to get back out there, even as limited as I know I'll be.
