Exactly. With fair officiating, this game could well have been going back to SA for game 7.

We got the benefit of some calls in the second half. I have no problem admitting that, but that's not the only reason we came back and won the game. Durant would not let the team quit and willed them back in the game.

Why are people (raptor, most okc fans) so reluctant to agree? You guys won and nothing is going to change it.

Tony Parker in that 3rd quarter was when the game was lost (IMO). He kind of quit making those "quick hitter" plays. Combine that with Duncan not willing to shoot the wide open 15 footer to start the 3rd and it killed all their momentum. At home you can correct that. But on the road? Too much.
Both were way too hesitant with the year on the line. If you are going down, go down swinging.

Agree 100%
OKC definitely worked hard to get where they are, and do deserve to be in the Finals. But this was not the way I wanted them to win if they would have won. And it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'd rather be praising the story of how Durant went god mode, but now you're gonna hear more stories about how Crawford made side deals and shit..

Calls were horrible. To have 11 fouls and 14 free throws in the 4th quarter in an elimination game just blows my mind. And we're one the best teams in the league at not fouling. Feels absolutely shitty to have your team's season end that way. But I'm a Spurs fan, so I guess that makes me biased.

I'll say it, we got some some controversial calls during the comeback. Some shoulda just been been no-calls, some were the wrong calls (offensive foul that should've been a defensive foul), and some were just really bad calls. But it wasn't 2002 WCF game 6 bad.

No it wasnt...BS was called on both sides. Tim Dunca got away with serveral illegal screens in the game parker got away with carries adn pushoffs. Steven jackson was given a 3pt foul after westbrook was given a 2pt foul. They called BS on both team n=in that 3th quarter. Spurs choked this game away.

There's no doubt that the Spurs still COULD have won despite the calls. But that does not change the fact that there were atrocious calls against the Spurs. Anytime the Spurs looked like they might hold off the Thunder, BS call. Momentum is everything in basketball people.

I'm honestly surprised by this, uh, bull...
I wanted the Spurs to win the series. Live near Seattle and really have no reason to EVER want the Thunder to do even a little well and I thought this game was pretty much within the realm of "normal" officiating.
To imply it's even worth mentioning in the same breath as the 2002 Lakers/Kings is just pathetic in my opinion. I simply didn't see it that way.
I guess I'll watch both games again in a few weeks and see how it comes off then. Right now it looks like a bunch of sour grapes from uneducated pre-pubescent faboys.

This. We got some controversial calls that the hoe team usually gets but nothing too out of the ordinary. What won the game was holding the spurs to below 40% shooting and 36 second half points after shooting the lights out and scoring 63 in the first half.
OKC's defense in the first half was non-existent and that's putting it nicely. They finally pulled their heads out in the second half and defended the way they did in games 3-5, and that's what got them back in the game.

What makes this so eye popping is that OKC isn't really a hated them like Miami or the Clippers, so for it to be that one sided in the results tells you it ain't just hating, multiple people saw the same thing.

Not a fan of either team, but the refs definitely influenced that game.
I still think OKC is the better team, but the refs allowed OKC back in to the game in the third quarter. There was a sequence of letting OKC be very physical with SA, while not allowing SA to be physical back.
The tech on Jackson, the hit on Leonard, and then another offensive foul on Jackson are just three that standout. But it was borderline comical at one point.
That didn't lose SA the game, but it got OKC right back in it. And that changed the momentum.

Its easy to say that being a fan of the team of who's being accused. Its true that OKC played great D, but what killed SA was that they didn't get the opportunity to play that same defense. OKC would hold SA off, and when SA would try to defend and get the ball back, a whistle would be heard. And no matter how much someone wants to say calls don't matter, they do. They can completely change the pace of the game, which they did. Jackson was about to go ham, but those techs threw him completely off rhythm. Next thing you know, you see more charging and offensive fouls called. You now have a SA team who's hesitating on offense.
And lets not act like OKC defense was any cleaner than SA's, westbrook wacking TP on the head is one of the examples. Its a lot easier to lower the FG% when you're allowed to play physical. There was a 5 min stretch where OKC was beating the shit outta SA.

Parker didn't seem to argue the call. Pop didn't argue the call on Parker.
...and the tech on SJack was deserved. You can't taunt people these days. He made a three, and looked at Mo Cheeks for like 5 seconds and probably said something to him. Whether you agree with the rule, that's a different thing, but under the current rules you can't taunt people.

Just to touch on that...I hate how an entire bench can scream at the top of their lungs as you shoot a three from the corner of an opponents bench, but you're not allowed to look back at them after you drain a three cause that's unsportsmanlike.

Yea, those were off the top of my head too. Now OKC did their job and finished the kill like they were suppose to, but to say Refs had nothing to do with it....come on now. Its easy to drop your opponents FG% when you can get away with more than accepted physical play.
But what people are forgetting is that, while OKC defended SPURS well, when SA tried to also defend, they weren't allowed to cause of the constant whistles. Duncan even said this. Kinda hard to keep the lead you have from decreasing when players keep getting sent to the line, which OKC got 31 to Spur's 18 btw.

You know I find it funny when people say well "the refs didn't cause the spurs to blow a 18 point lead". Like seriously thats what started it. Bad calls on both sides of the ball that stopped the spurs from having the same rhythm they had in the first half. I'm sorry, but this sounds so similar to what people said about the Spurs in their championship days. The Thunder brought the energy in the second half and were the more aggresive team. Those teams tend to get the benefit of the whistle. That's just how it goes.
