I've been told that 200$ selvedge denim is a better buy than stocking up on 40$ levi's.
Right now these are my most expensive pair.

50 bucks maybe.
Now if this was about shirts, that's a different story.
With jeans, you don't even need a bunch, just have about 5 and wear them all the time. You can wear the same jeans 2 days in a row and no one will notice, but try that with a shirt "hey man, you had that shirt on yesterday."

had an old coworker who paid over $400 for jeans.
He was not ashamed of it either, dude carried the receipt with him for awhile after he bought them.
Can't remember the brand but he wore those jeans pretty much everyday, to quote: "get them to fit perfectly"
note, this guy was not rich from what i could tell. average middle class dude.:facepalm

Normally spend $40-$50. I wear pretty much jeans all the time except for when I have to work the dayshift, so i'm certainly not going to spend $100 + on the 5-6 pairs of jeans I have in rotation.

I'm not the kind of person to waste money on designer clothing... but designer fitted jeans and dress shirts, for a tall, slender guy like myself, are a must. I typically spend around $100 on jeans (I don't wear jeans that much), and around $100-150 on dress shirts.

Spending $250 on shirts (like the ones Westbrook had been wearing), isn't necessary at all IMO (can usually get similar designs etc for much cheaper). But spending big coin on jeans is understandable. If you've ever owned a good pair of jeans, you'll know it's worth it.
Personally the max I've spent though is $250 on a pair of Wranglers. Not sure if you can get them in the US? But they are the comfiest jeans I've ever worn. They wash well, and still in awesome condition today.

There are Wrangler's available here, they are $20 KMart jeans.
I only buy Levi's, better comfort and quality than those expensive ones, and you can usually catch them on sale for cheap.
However the most I ever paid, was probably back in high school, $130ish or so. Although we talking early 90s here, so it's like $300 today.
The $ sign comes before the number. Who taught you that it comes after? And you two arent foreigners either EricGoron23 and SourPatchKids. :confusedshrug:

Even though I think it's ridiculous to spend that type of money on jeans. There's Wrangler jeans much more expensive than that. Official websites don't carry all the clothes they've ever made. Simply go on eBay or Amazon and type in "wrangler jeans" and sort by highest price first.

Did that on amazon.com, only 1 pair of jeans ran for $260. The rest were much lower in price.
Just browsing ebay these are people selling jeans from before you and me were born. One is a pair of 1960 Wrangler jeans they want for $600 (buy now) or bid on it. Who is bidding on those jeans?

Competition to see who spends the least amount of money on clothes or something? :oldlol: Who cares if another dude has the means to rock 300 dollar jeans. Just because you rock the Wal-Mart special doesn't mean everybody else has too. This coming from a guy who doesn't spend lots of money on jeans either.

For those of you that spent hundreds on jeans can you please explain to me why?
I work at Macy's and I've compared the different jeans.
I won't lie, the difference between the sub $40 jeans and $100 + IS noticeable. The material is cheaper, they're less soft, comfortable and are usually heavier. But the difference between the middle range prices $45-60 and the $100+ isn't obvious at all. A good pair of Levis or even some INC jeans isn't as noticeable from some Armani, Diesel or any other brand. The more expensive brand may be slightly softer, but nothing that's noticeable. A better fit? not every jean fits the same. You can try 10 pairs of Diesel jeans, 10 pairs of Levis and none will fit the same way.
So do I have to own them to know the difference?
It's an honest question because I didn't notice the difference from my own research. And you don't get commission selling jeans so I was honest when I worked in the men's dept.

Does the price before any discount apply? I never bought any pair of jeans originally marked above $60 though. They are just going to tear and stuff, why pay extra?

The more expensive jeans tend to have better detail, fit, and comfort. But it is for show as well. Cheaper jeans are more made to be rugged and have little detail.
But really what's the big deal? If a guy can afford it and likes it, why not? Is a guy a douche if he buys a ferrari when the 300zx is much cheaper? Sure there are the fellas that buy things and go out of their way solely for the label, but you can say that about anything that is material wants. Does PT need that big of a condo for a single guy? Does Stromile need all those jeresy's? Does hateraid need all those kicks he doesn't wear at all?
It's even more doucheir to judge someone based on their clothes

That's the thing, some people like to lavish and splurge once in a while. I posted I've bought a pair of Tavernietti's for $275, but they were on sale from $450. They are still the most comfortable jeans I own and I've had them for 4 years. On the opposite of that my last jean purchase was from Winners for a pair of Buffalo jeans that were $18.

Straight up, if you don't understand the importance of a quality pair of jeans and notice the differences in good denim, chances are you have no style.
Having at least one pair of 'expensive' jeans is a must for me. I've def found some that weren't very expensive but looked nice, fit nice, etc. but there is no denying an expensive designer pair can make your frame and disposition look way more appealing and it's crucial to wearing the right shirt if you go out.
All the dudes talkin shit about having nice jeans prolly jus are terrible dressers and have no observation to detail when it comes to looking good & presentable.
As for me, nothing too obscene. I spent about $125-$150 on some Armani Exchange/ Lucky pairs. I also like the Rock & Republics, which I saw you can buy at KOHL's now  . Usually run about $90

Honestly, you can get $100+ designer jeans for $80 or less if you know where to look and when to buy them on sale
Cheap, ill-fitting jeans can make your legs look short or/and fat...and not to mention they make you look like your mom still buy clothes for you

Usually run about $90
Why would anyone spend more than $50 on a pair of jeans? Nobody notices jeans and if you think that spending $150 on a pair of jeans makes you fashionable or in style then you are pathetic.

if you spend 200-300 dollars on jeans.
You are a fool!
You clearly don't need the money you have, you could be giving it to the poor...
Or spending it on League Pass...

I wear jeans to work on some Fridays. If you know of an acceptable pair of business causal jeans for 50 dollars please link me to them.
I am shocked that people don't see the difference in better fitting jeans. I guess people think it is douchey to buy nice shirts too because you don't "need" them...

What are business casual jeans?
boring jeans that look nice enough to wear to work. For me they are straight leg, dark wash, sit slightly higher on the hip, nice enough material to wear to work.
Usually wear with nice belt, dress shirt and dress shoes(I hope to get some double monks sometime in the future)

Trust me, there certainly is a difference. It's not for other ppl to notice. The weight, cut, stitching, texture of expensive jeans are def worth the extra feti if you can spare it. I wouldn't spend over $150 like you said unless I was uber rich but if you splurge on a really nice pair of jeans you won't regret it. If they fit right, chances are you'll wanna wear them all the time

that is what happened when I got my first pair of sevens. I wore out the bottom of them because they were bootcut and tad too long. I got a ton of compliments on them though.
Oh, and I can usually notice the quality of clothes that people where. I don't care but it is something i notice. I am always one to give someone props for dressing nice.

levis 514 in tumbled rigid are my favorite fit. go well with nice shirt and a dark sport coat. the jeans are like $40.
Ive never found the need to pay much more. I spend more on nice shirts, shoes, jackets etc. But not jeans. Same goes for undershirts, i get those at target for cheap.. i don't understand the $50 plain t-shirts.
