Such a waste of life and energy to hate a man who doesn't know you and doesn't care about you. LOL a man who if he met you still wouldn't give a f*ck about you
Why can't Lebron just dress like a normal person when getting interviewed and such?
That isn't being humble, as he recently stated he now is.

What's not humble about it ? People who aren't humble think things should be given to them on a silver platter. It's obvious people will just hate no matter what.
He puts something cocky...Hate
He put something blue collar and hard working...Hate
And this is news...Why again?

Lebron, we know you had to carry Wade and Bosh to win it and that when you teamed up with them, and that you didn't plan on carrying this much of a load but do you really need the shirt to convince yourself? You sure as hell aren't telling anyone anything they don't already know. Way to disrespect your teamates.

I think it's impossible for me to say this without sounding like a hipster but. . . I don't have cable, so I don't see Sportscenter anymore. What is happening to it? How many consecutive sub-stories can they throw out there at one time about the same subject? The King Speaks, Jalen Rose on LeBron, LeBron's Motivation, Players Under Pressure (which I'm assuming refers to LeBron)? I feel bad for anyone who just wanted to see Giants/Athletics highlights.

"Formed, Not given" would have been better.
But in all seriousness who is "given" an NBA title, everybody earns their title but not everybody sports a shirt that says they did.
His PR guy should have just handed him a 2012 Miami HEAT championship shirt?

Just when you almost get to the point where you start liking them. They got do something so dumb, it reminds you of exactly why you never liked them to begin with. Lebron is clearly going to remain the arrogant douche he always has been. He's just trying to downplay it a little now cuz he won a title. But just wait, he'll go right back to being his arrogant self in a few months or when the season starts up again. But wait, didn't he supposedly hire a PR firm to help him NOT come across like a douche? So much for that bright idea:rolleyes:

He did earn this championship. Did no one notice the incredible level he played at in these playoffs? Bosh was injured and not himself for much of the playoffs and Wade wasn't Wade yet LeBron carried that team to a championship. Does he have to score every single Heat point to "earn" it? Should he be the only Heat player on the floor going 1 on 5? I watched him assrape the NBA on his way to the title and that's earning it to me.
Since when do we want athletes to be humble? Jordan wasn't humble and we loved him for it.

I'm seeing a lot of comments like this, not just here, but also coming from sports writers saying that "it wasn't easy." Aside from Lebron, the two best players in the east didn't play at all due to injuries (Dwight and Rose). Let's not pretend the Knicks (lol), the Pacers, and an old banged-up Celtics team are as formidable as a Magic team with Dwight or the Bulls with Rose.

people act like just because they got together, it's an automatic title and they don't need to do anything else ..
last year proved otherwise .. you still have to put in the hard work and bust your ass .. nothing is guaranteed in the nba ..
lebron had a very subpar supporting cast in cleveland .. no superstar has won anything with that much less help .. he needed help just like anybody else and once he got it, this is the result, a championship ..
heck, they were down in every series during the playoffs .. down 3-2 at boston and he brought them back solely on his own with that legendary performance .. they didn't just sweep through everyone because they had a 'dream team' .. he put in the hard work and earned it .. no nba title is a gimme

Everybody was effected by the condensed season. Bosh was even 100% either.
So last year, they cruised through the East when Rose, Celtics and Sixers were healthy. The East was considered a weak conference. Now all the sudden they had a tough Eastern Conference run and people are using injuries as an excuse but the East is no longer weak? :confusedshrug:
People need to make up their mind whether or not the East is weak. Weak conference, injuries...that's not LeBron's or Miami's fault. They play against whatever is stack against them.

You may mistake him for a gay pornstar (see your avy), but Bosh is actually a borderline superstar in this league. He can put up 25/10 playing on any other team, or whenever one of the other two is injured or not playing up to their standards. He is also the most clutch player on that team.

The east IS weak, and considerably weaker when two of the best players in the league at their position are out injured.
It's not an "excuse," since the Heat might have beaten the Bulls anyway, but no...it's wasn't that hard of a series for Lebron. Let's get real here.

I really, honestly don't think Jordan would have done that. He's too media-savvy. He kept the darker aspects of his personality away from the public, and most people just assumed he was this wholesome "good guy," while players like Barkley were the "villains."
No need to bring Kobe into this conversation. Everyone already knows he has an ego. Shit, he wore a fvcking T-shirt with his own face on it to Disneyland.

Don't you have a post somewhere to edit?
For the records, Wade did play like a superstar in the finals, starting with the second game. Bosh was also close, surprisingly on both ends of the floor. And Battier played better than Lebron did last year in the finals. Miller was the MVP of the last game, and Chalmers was once again superb in the finals.
Lebron had an average finals, but his teammates stepped up big time.

LeBron was amazing, I'll give you that but let's not discredit Bosh, Wade and the rest of the role players. They did their parts.
Bosh didn't have superstar numbers but he held his own in the post against Ibaka, Perkins, and Collison. He had a near double double in the series.
Wade had some clutch defensive moments in the series, a la Ginobili-esque.
My credit % pie chart:
LeBron 55%
Bosh 17%
Wade 13%
Battier, Chalmers, Miller, Cole 10%
Coach Spo 5%

He won the ship, the cheap shots back at the haters do nothing provide MORE criticism, and stuff like "MJ would never do that" type of comments.

Ok let's recap,
In his prime, teams up with a top3 and a top10 players
In his prime, takes a paycut to team up with his buddies.
On his run to the finals, every team that could cause trouble to the Heat, have multiple injuries, serious injuries, not some gayass abdominal strain.
On the finals plays against a talented but very young team, probably the youngest ever on the finals.
Heat are disgustingly carried by the refs throughout the playoffs and finals, like no other team in the history of the NBA.
Earned not given? :lol
Only worse than this would have been lockout for the entire season and Stern giving the championship to miami with no games played.

Yes he wasn't handed a ring for nothing, yes he played amazingly, but seriously if you can't admit he had an easier run to the championship then usual then your severely biased. Him wearing a shirt like this looks stupid because it draws attention to the fact he had an easier run then most. I thought this was a great chance for him to be humble about this and turn his public persona around but now he just looks like he hasn't grown up at all and hasn't learnt from things he has admitted were mistakes in the past.

By working out you mean HGH? right? cause Lebron is special because of his size and strength nothing else, did he even made any jumper during the finals?
By utmost pressure you mean the pressure that any player that plays on the finals have? Right? please child, just because Lebron suck at dealing with pressure, don't try to sell the idea that for some unknown reason he have more pressure than anyone else.
Despite teaming up with Wade and Bosh, if it wasn't for the outrageous 3 point shooting of Battier and Miller he would probably be ringless by now, so yeah adding to what i've posted before, he really "earned" it.

Agree with some of this but if you suspect Lebron of HGH then you need to look at half the league too. Look at how huge Dwight got in one off season? Look at how huge jordan got after his stint in baseball?
All those open 3's that Miller and to a lesser extent Battier got were being created by Lebron aswell. Yeah they still had to hit them but he served them up on a platter.
That said wearing that shirt after all his past mistakes and how he won his ring, while trying to rebuild his image is a horrible PR move and deserves to laughed at and derided for.

From 2008-2010, Pau Gasol was argued as the best PF in the game. Shaq teamed up with a stacked Lakers team in '96 and Miami in 2005. Wade? You don't think Lebron/Bosh had anything to do with him resigning? Kobe? Guy tried to weasel his way out of LA. Bringing in Gasol is why his contract today is a huge problem for the Lakers. :oldlol:

It's a legitimate question. There was just something about 1) what move LeBron made 2) how he made it and 3) when he made it, that just felt... off, for lack of a better word. I wasn't a Cleveland Cavaliers fan but I was a LeBron James fan. So, I'm not sure if I'd fit the traditional "hater" definition. In fact, I'm a Pistons fan who had his squad throttled by James in multiple seasons and I couldn't do much else but sit back and admire.
That said, the entire idea of him leaving his home-state team, for whom he was single handily putting on his shoulders and contending for championships... the idea of him creating a hour-long special (and no, the donation of proceeds didn't some how make it feel any less scuzzy for me, unfortunately)... the resignation from the idea of winning on the terms given to him... the seeming manner with which he held himself, appearing as if his goal was to make winning a championship as easy as possible... the rings guarantee... the pre-championship party... it all just felt a little too uniquely creepy in comparison to any other teaming up of talent in year's past.
I can say in all honesty, I wish his decision wasn't so strange and unfortunate, because it was a joy to watch him in Cleveland. If just feels like he joined the dark side. Everything I enjoyed about him as a basketball player (again, how he seemed to bask in the notion of raising a previously downtrodden team to the level of the great Lakers and Celtics, essentially flipping off all those who didn't think a team from Cleveland could compete with the big boys) was then completely flipped by his joining of the Heat. It was a classic "If you can't beat them, join them" routine and it was most unpleasant for me. Like Leonardo and Raphael deciding to team up with Shredder and the Foot Clan. No one wants to see that.

I would have agreed with you if this was last year, and despite him wetting the bed in the Finals, Miami managed to beat Dallas.
That's not what happened though. What we saw from Lebron this year was very much Cleveland-esque. What we watched in the playoffs...is rare. Once in a lifetime even. Not sure why people are acting like he was carried or that he wasn't very clearly the best player on the floor 95% of the games he played this postseason.

The east IS weak, and considerably weaker when two of the best players in the league at their position are out injured.
It's not an "excuse," since the Heat might have beaten the Bulls anyway, but no...it's wasn't that hard of a series for Lebron. Let's get real here.

Yeah, I think the overriding thing here, in terms of liking a player, is his intentions. We all know he's an all-time great. He was already at that level to me in 2010. But the idea of dropping out from what he'd established and embraced in favor of what he hoped would be an easy cruise to championship after championship is not very appealing to a lot of fans. Then, every successful moment thereafter felt dirty, in a, "Oh, you just threw down a sick alley-oop after Chris Bosh blocked a shot and threw an outlet pass to Dwyane Wade who then gave you a no-look lob? Wow, who would have thought three prime all stars could experience success like that? How impressive" type of way.
I always go back to this, but it reminds me of the three best players opting out of creating even matchups for the sake of competition and instead arbitrarily teaming up at a street court, then hot dogging and high fiving as they dunk on clearly inferior opposition, acting as if they're accomplishing something. To me, as a fan of the game, it's just been an unfortunate combination of actions and decisions. It's possible to compare aspects of his situation to innumerable others but I find his decision truly unique in itself.

That's where I stopped reading. You can't be freaking serious with that crap. Shaq teamed up with a Lakers team that had two all-stars sure, but neither were top 10, let alone top 5 players. Shaq was TRADED to Miami. Again Gasol was traded to the Lakers no conspiring involved here. Let's see Kobe was a free agent and could have left for the Spurs, Clippers or Bulls. Chose to stay. Dirk was a free agent could have left, instead chose to stay. Both of these guys could have teamed up with other superstars but didn't.

LeRef gets favored by the refs more than any player in history
he plays on the most stacked team in the league
dwhistle from 06 also showed up, getting a string of phantom calls in his favor
this year's finals was a joke, we saw what happened when the games were called even sort of fair last year
hell, Thunder came back from behind to win by double digits in game 1, there was no way the league was going to take a chance and the refs started burying OKC during game 2, and it only got more blatant from there
this following a playoffs full of dodgy calls in the Heat's favor

I think there's truth to that, and I think a lot of fans acknowledge it. However, on the flip side, I think a lot of folks (myself included) operate under the "ignorance-is-bliss" guise, meaning we may have a good idea a player may be a certain way, but we'd rather not know and instead keep it basketball-based. However, when someone's constantly slapping you in the face with their arrogance, I don't blame people for having a hard time overlooking it.
For instance, maybe Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is a giant ego-maniac. However, to this point, he's kept it relatively cool. As such, football fans can be fans of his without having his obnoxious personality shoved in their face. On the contrary, such could not be the case for Terrell Owens or Chad Johnson. People could still like them for their games, but it becomes increasingly difficult to ignore their off-field conduct. We can say we just care about what they do on the field, but at some point it becomes nearly impossible to completely ignore the other aspects of their being.
In this case, just after a fair amount of the general basketball fan population finished admitting that LeBron's play had indeed been quite legendary, while they then speculated on his newfound maturity and humble nature, we're left to wonder again about his prerogatives. To me, I like to think I can keep things in perspective (it's just a t-shirt afterall), but I'd be lying if this wasn't my first reaction when I saw it:

To me, I like to think I can keep things in perspective (it's just a t-shirt afterall), but I'd be lying if this wasn't my first reaction when I saw it:

Very well put. I've always felt LeBron should be the bigger man at times. He really needs to get a better PR team. Someone just needs to tell him when certain things shouldn't be said or done.

Ok. Can't hate on another man's opinion. Btw, who's your favorite team and player?
I don't live in an NBA city, so I'm more like a general NBA fan.
But this season and playoffs I have been following the Bulls and Thunder.
However, even as a fan, I can accept their faults, and welcome criticism from others about them. Something Lebron fans have a harder time with.

you wanna talk about marketability, this would sell 10x more than the original.
LeBron is a very smart guy. He's one of those players that will be a billionaire in the near future. I am planning to order that T-shirt online.

you're so gay over Lebron it's not funny. :facepalm
The slogan is stupid. Plus why bring this up? The media is not mentioning it. Him putting it on a t-shirt makes it a discussion. Where is it being written he didn't earn his title? That's stupid. But he's making it a discussion point.

He earned it. He played his @$$ off in the playoffs. The Miami Heat now have the same number of championships as the New York Knicks.

I didn't say he didn't. Putting that particular slogan on a t-shirt is just him being obnoxious. What about the title requires him to act like an obnoxious jerk? He's gone to great lengths during the playoffs not to say the wrong things, etc. and his slogan not only is obnoxious, it's not even a catchy thing, and it brings up a point that he is not being accused of.
When Kobe won did he make a t-shirt that said "**** U SHAQ, I GOT MORE RINGS".
In no way do i think Lebron does not deserve his title. And in no way does that make this t-shirt less stupid.
Lebron could make a t-shirt that said **** LEBRON23, HE LIKES YOUNG GIRLS AND WOULD TAKE IT UP THE ASS FROM ME IF I WANTED HIM TO and you'd argue on this board it was the coolest shirt ever.

I love the catch phrase. That T-shirt will sell in the market. Who give a $hit? He's a champion, and a millionaire. LeBron can do whatever he wants. He's living in a free country.
You guys are a bunch of sensitive H@ters.

Just look at MJ's "Only kings have rings" t-shirt. MJ still has a huge ego. All of these basketball players have huge ego.

MJ is a huge asshole. Just enormous. Lebron is a nice guy, MJ is a total prick. You are arguing Lebron is perfect. He's not. You bring up other players like i am arguing they are perfect. I am not.
People accused Lebron of trying to gift himself a ring. He won. The discussion of that is pretty much done, NO ONE in the media is bringing it up. So who brings it up? Lebron himself.
It makes no sense, sorry.

Nice argument, do you see MJ wearing it?
And is that shirt even designed by Nike/for MJ at all?
Looks like some cheap knockoff made from a factory in China.
How you gonna take some random t-shirt and act like Jordan wears it and condones it?
But, by your IQ, i'm not surprised :lol :lol
A lot of bball players do have huge ego's, yes, but none of them are stupid enough to wear it out in public. :coleman:

Yeah, again, sometimes things are best left unsaid. Many of us may correctly assume stars have egos the size of Jupiter, but we prefer not to have them hit us over the head with it.
