If you are a true basketball fan you should enjoy he greatness of these players. It makes no sense to hate because these guys are all time greats. Obviously some players you like more than others, but i just dont get how you really cant respect the plays they make.

some of our lives are so deplorable that we only feel better about ourselves if we are knocking someone else down

and in this case, neither of those guys can bitchslap the shit outta us so its easy pickings

Somewhere along the history of American culture it became the norm to praise people that are humble and modest and dislike people that are cocky and high on themselves.

Kobe and LeBron both have enormous egos and because of that they will always have a group of people that do not like them for it.

Yea the thing with both Lebron and Kobe is that they have tendencies to show jerkass moments. The reason Lebron will get dogged on it more is cause he shows signs of being effected by what people say. Kobe on the other hand lets it clearly known he couldn't give two fukks about what you think.

Its psychology 101. Other peoples success reminds them of their own failures and shortcomings.

Agree, its pretty much a consistent flow of the feeling of a future threat to the legacy by future potenial. Wilt/KAJ fans are weary of Jordan, Jordan fans definitely are weary of Kobe, Kobe fans are weary of Lebron, and now you have Lebron fans getting weary over Durant, Rose and the likes.

Next thing you know people will get weary of whoever is the next big thing in the next 5-10 years.

So people can't be fans of these players they need to be put in their place?

Back in the 80's Jordan was constantly being compared to Dr.J. Should Erving fans have had the right to put Jordan fans in their place? Because before Jordan had ever amounted to anything they were chirping about how he was the greatest player to ever live.

This:applause:

And also the fact that a lot of people doing the hatin' especially in Kobe case, really don't know that much if anything about basketball, or anything else for that matter. They can regurgitate stats and such they got off the internet or ESPN, to try to make it look like they know something. But they can't form their own opinions about them. All they do is repeat what they heard. They hate on Kobe cuz Lebron is popular, and they seem to think it's somehow supposed to be "progressive" or "cool" to hate the dude. Ask them why, and like I said before, they have no real idea. And go into this litany of media talking points. When doing so makes them look stupid, then they resort to personal attacks. Cuz it's really all they know how to do, and pretty much is a great indicator of how old they really are. That's the main reason why anybody who really knows anything about basketball, doesn't take a thing they say seriously.

Yeah Kobe and everybody else in the NBA has shortcomings, EXCEPT Lebron....right? No objectivity whatsoever, then they claim to know basketball. Which is exactly why most people just laugh at the idiocy of Lebron fans:facepalm

Because LeBron is an overrated choke artist who had to abandon his team in Cleveland after 8 years of failure to team up with an NBA champion top-3 SG and an all-star top-5 PF.

He's an average talent with above average athleticism, and the fact that he even gets mentioned near the top 10 GOAT list is why people dislike him and his fans.

Unless you are a Cleveland fan, it is hard to hate on Lebron. The guy plays the game the "right" way. I just hope he works even more on his mid-range and post game. Then he will be the real, bonafide, top 10 baller deal.

Kobe plays ego/hero ball and he is on the Lakers = Real easy to hate although I appreciate his all around game and obviously the time that has gone into it. Like Magic Johnson, I might actually not hate him in 10 years or so. But for now, I hate him.

Lebron's case too.

Yep. The LeBron trolls guaranteed a championship all year, even after losing the Finals last year, and thought Haslem, Chalmers, Battier, and Miller (all very solid role players with a good IQ for the most part, which wasn't the case with guys like Sasha, Farmar, Brown, Powell, Walton, Morrison, and Mbenga who Kobe carried to rings) wasn't enough help even though they came through big time in the Finals.

FYI, I'm a Magic Johnson fan. Since I'm from Vancouver I've never had an affiliation with a team. The Grizzlies when they were here, and Seattle growing up because the exposure, but no real commitment so I followed players. You obviously don't know me as a poster and since you insist on questioning my integrity, when I first joined EZ board 10 years ago I was a big time Kobe hater. They once had a "who's the biggest Kobe hater" thread and I was top 10. As a Magic Johnson fan I wasn't gonna have anyone rank Kobe over Magic, especially as an all-time Laker. You know what I noticed? The more I'd bash Kobe, the more the Jordan fanboys would have my back. All's good right? Then when it comes to me expressing my opinion of Magic as the greatest of all-time, the very same Jordan minions who supported my views on Kobe were bashing my views of Magic hard. You know what I also noticed? The Kobetards I was bashing would rarely, if at all, would counter my views. My conclusion? Jordan fans get the most insecure when anybody has an opinion on who's GOAT, especially to the Kobetards, which led me to my negative views on Jordan stans. So hear me when I say this, I don't have a problem with Jordan's greatness, his fans are a different story.

To back my statement up, I bet if a poster started a thread stating Magic, Wilt, KAJ were the GOAT, not bring up any other player, not Kobe, not Lebron, not any top 10 player of all-time, my money would be that the majority of butthurtedness would come from Jordan stans.

I'm not saying I hate all Jordan fans, there are fans I respect who can articulate a debate without leading to insults, but here that's rare (yes Kobetards are the same way, but my feelings are the do it on purpose to rile people up, Jordan fans are more serious about it). I'll respect people's POV, especially level headed Jordan fans and I will gladly debate Magic vs Jordan

They're both super-talented, but they've both gotten so much favoritism at times (Lebron even more than Kobe, if you can believe that) that it's impossible to judge how great they really are.

Then you turn around and there's legions of their drooling, feverishly *********ing stans insisting either player is the goat of all goats while ignoring how blatantly the game was tilted in their favor at times, and it becomes a complete farce.

It's hard to enjoy their greatness when their "greatness" is so defined by how much favoritism they get.

Well... unless you're more concerned with worshiping a particular player over seeing legit competition.

I read your post yesterday. You said you're a Magic Johnson Fan. The last Magic vs. Jordan thread that I can remember happened some time last year. I believe it was a "Rank All-Time Guards" type of thread that had MJ edging out Magic based on Finals MVPs, Scoring Titles and defense, not to mention being the "Undisputed" (that word again) Leader of every one of his Title Teams.

You see how easy it is to make points about players, without even downplaying the other guy? Yet I never see you saying jack sh!t when Posters try to undercut MJ with lies, half truths or by bending the "rules".

Only Kobe fans hate LeBron, not even Lakers fans, just Kobe fans. Meanwhile, everyone who hated Kobe like 4-5 years ago probably still hate him now.

I don't like Kobe's game anymore compared to what it was 4-5 years ago but I'm not going to go as far as saying I hate him though.

Kobe fans hate Lebron because they are insecure that LeBron will surpass him.

A lot of random people hate Kobe because he is poor teammate, a possible rapist, and a shot jacker for the most part.

I always thought that Kobe should have been a top 5 player of all-time with his talent and ability but he isn't due to his horrendous shot selection and his poor decision making.

There isn't much to hate about LeBron other than how he left Cleveland even though he apologized for it and he said he would do it differently. I don't know why people can't accept the fact that LeBron has grew up this season and is not some immature kid like he was in 2011.
