Celtics get bigger. I think Sullinger is a great piece for them & their future. Melo is exactly what they need in the middle as well.

I'm actually feeling well about both picks. Potentially good value for a #21 and #22 pick, respectively.
Really good by Boston. Sullinger could be a mega steal and Fab Melo is a serviceable center.

Sullinger pick I like for Celtics, they will probably now let Brandon Bass walk. Although I don't watch college ball, would most people here say Sullinger can be better than Bass?
I thought they should've taken PJIII. Is Jeff Green a RFA or UFA? They should just let him walk regardless and I thought they should've taken PJIII. Resigning Bass + Green will probably cost at least 14 million per season, and instead they could've gotten 2 players with potential on rookie contracts and had cap space flexibility.

he seriously has the best post game in the entire draft. he's already a way better athlete than big baby....get him some nba conditioning, some experience....barring injuries dude could be an all-star

I'm happy with our picks. Sullinger is Low Risk High reward. I can live with Fab Melo. There aren't many Centers available and you never know, he might turn into Deandre Jordan or something.

Melo is a great defender/rebounder and the Celtics have been playing Ryan Hollins and a foul prone Stiemsma at the 5. Not sure why some Boston fans are irritated about the pick.

I know for damn sure i ain't, a 7 foot center with a 7'2 wingspan plus he's a beast on the offensive glass? Hell yea ill take that! I love the sullinger pick as well, hopefully his back problems aren't serious cuz that dude could work realllll well with Rondo, especially considering how much of a bully game he likes to play

Sullinger is a great pick until his back goes out. Backs don't get better. They stay the same. is the risk worth it? YES. But everyone talks like he'll stay healthy, why?

I don't think many teams will shell out big bucks for a dude coming off of heart surgery. C's could get Green relatively cheap.

So our roster looks like this now.
Melo
Sullinger/Johnson
Pierce
Bradley/Moore
Rondo
So do we play our rookies and Bradley 32 Mins a night and develop them while tanking or do we over pay some players and try for another 2nd round or ECF exit?

Celtics said they think he'll be fine. You may find that teams with lower picks really push the "his back is f'd" talk behind the scenes in the hope it scares others off and he'll fall from a potential lottery pick to being available in the 20's.

20 picks went before him. I'd be surprised if his back is just fine. I think at best it's ****ed up but they think he'll be ok for a few years. He's too talented if he was a maybe that teams would not have chosen him.

has he ever actually had back problems though? like missed games because of his back? he got flagged, but that might not mean anything. could just be he has a higher risk for future problems

I think KG will give it one more year, and then Ray might come back and come off the bench for 1 also. Then, they all retire together

Look what the Spurs did with D-Rob. Tank 1 year and get a lottery guy in Duncan then come back strong.

They didn't tank, Robinson missed the year being injured. Outside of him it was the likes of Sean Elliot, Avery Johnson and Vinny Del Negro and an old as dirt Dominique Wilkins.

Pierce should stay injured day to day kind of thing and tank this season. Who can we realistically get in free agency to take us over the top into contention? The best possible scenario Boston gets is:
Kaman/Melo/Stiemsma
Garnett/Sullinger/Johnson
Pierce/Green
Mayo/Bradley
Rondo/Bradley
Will this be enough to get past Miami and whoever comes out on top in the West?

That doesn't even make any sense. Robinson was injured. It wasn't a strategy, doof.
Yes, pretty sick Sullinger fallen so low..I hope he stays healthy and stuff.
On the other hand, im really skeptical about Fab Melo, he hasn't convince me really. I hope KG stays and teach him some lessons and offensive moves. They really need height bad...

OJ Mayo and Rajon Rondo that's a phuking squad right there.
great pick on Sullinger, he will be good a better Glen Davis.
But what's up with the Fab Melo pick, he is a sterotypical example of a guy who only made it to the NBA solely on size, and very little on skill.
He will be every bit as bad as Hasheem Thabeet.
Perry Jones should have been the pick, but if yall can steal OJ Mayo then everything will be forgiven.

Boston needed to stop ****ing around and draft much needed length. It was smart to take a project player with that sort of rebounding prowess and emphasis on defense, particularly when they already took a perceived "risk" drafting Sullinger. Drafting Jones would have given Celtics fans a heart attack. "Two players with medical red flags!" Odds are it would have panned out fine, but you never know.
In the wake of Green going down with his ailment, losing guys like Wilcox, Allen's bone spurs, Garnett's history with the knee(s)... Boston has had it's share of injury issues. Drafting two guys with injury histories, even though I still think they're overblown, probably wasn't on the front offices mind.

why is that shocking? Dude was seriously the best offensive player (post or otherwise) the last 2 college seasons. If his back holds up, hes gonna be a great pickup next to a good defensive center

I love how people think Big Baby was this machine for us. He played well, but he was a jumpshooter who got blocked 9 times out of 10 around the rim.
Sullinger's all about the post moves. Completely different players except for their size.

But he bullied the competition, he would not be able to do that in the NBA, i don't think his game translates well, hope i'm wrong!

Big Baby Davis' entire career in Boston could be summed up with a storybook run in KG's place for the 2009 Playoffs, drawing lots of charges, this:

how is sullinger be all about post moves when he will get rejected everytime.
dude got shut down by anyone with a bit of length in college(ex. Josh Harrelson in tourny last year). that wont get better in the pros.
he better be working on that three point shot
