Are you really telling me they couldn't trade back a little to take Terrance Ross? Im actually a Ross fan, but taking him at 8th was a huge reach.

DeRozan must feel like shyt, especially since there's a need for a PF/C with size and Drummond was available.

They have Bargs, Big V, Ed Davis and Amir Johnson at the 4/5 so they had no need for Drummond. They needed a SF that could shoot and they got one. They should have traded down a few spots though.

But I agree I feel like they didn't even consider it just wanted to take him because that was their man from the start and were scared someone would take him lol...:facepalm

The Raptors drafted safe and took need over talent. It was a stupid move for a team that isn't even close to being long-term contender.

Again, it fits with what management/ownership is trying to do. Mediocrity is the goal in Toronto.

Exactly. I mean, there had to have been some team that was willing to move up for Drummond. Idk, good player, but I don't he has the upside of being the 8th pick

Dion Waiters! Hello where is my tip!?

They shouldn't have passed on Drummond. I think Quincy Acy will be a good value for a second round pick, good energy guy off the bench. Really liked watching him at Baylor:rockon:

That's like saying OKC should draft a project SF when a legit big man is available because OKC has Ibaka and Perkins

Bargs plays more of a perimeter game and the rest are role players. Derozan was supposed to be the franchise.

If you are counting on players like Bargnani and Derozan to be building blocks of your franchise, your team has some serious issues. The fact that the Raptors were clearly drafting based on need and took an SG is a sign of what they think of Derozan now.

As for Bargnani? Well...

What's frustrating is that maybe would could have gotten Lowry, and the 12th pick from Houston, and still gotten Ross at 12.

No doubt we could have traded down, gained some assets, and picked Ross in the middle of the first round where he was projected.

We are still waiting for a franchise player. Maybe it will be Val, but I highly doubt that.

Ross was pegged as their guy and didn't want to risk him being off the board, simple as that. This is one part in the grand scheme, and I personally don't mind. Raps fans can't stand players like Bargs, Jose, and DD because they are not 2-way players. Now they draft one, don't give him a chance and he's a bust? We have no idea how this pans out. I will be the 1st to say I was disappointed we didn't take Rivers, but in all honesty, Ross is bigger, shoots equally well, and is an active defender who does not constantly need the ball to be effective.

As for Drummond, yes, if he reaches his potential, then we blew it. But TO is not the right situation for Drummond with Val coming over. How can you develop either player if they cannot get game-time minutes? Bigs need time, especially since he is so raw. The raps didn't want to make a mistake and went safe. So what. If he ends up being J-Rich 2.0 or Thabo with an offensive game (he's compared to Nick Young on draft express which is not accurate since he rebounds and defends), that's a solid piece moving forward.

I don't mind Ross especially if Nash comes to TO. He is a good shooter and yes, we did pass on Drummond (which I wasn't happy about), but I feel Ross was the right pick.

no pun intended

I think I'm the only left on the bargs bandwagon.

Oh well!

If Steve Nash chooses to become a Raptor, he needs one low post scorer/rebounder (Valenciunas) and three other shooters (Bargnani, Derozan?, Ross?) for his system. It seems to work quite well with Gortat and Frye. It could work even better with Val and Bargs too.

Ross should be okay.
