Well, at least I've still got LeBron to heckle at the Vegas exhibition game.

Just kidding. As fun as it would be, it would seem odd heckling a guy playing for your country.

tyson chandler is the only guy who can play center lol

i guess anthony davis will make the cut now, if he even wants to play. spain has a legit matchup advantage at the 5....this is crazy

That's a good idea. A compressed season, the Olympics and then the grind of a long 82 game season wouldn't bode well for a Heat repeat.

This gives Anthony Davis more of a chance to make the team, or even better, Boogie Cousins!

Love played the 5 often at the last tournament, and James could probably play the 5 on occasion.

The international game doesn't really need big time shot blockers, more so guys that can defend the pick and roll or pick and pop - Chandler's strength.

Maybe you idiots haven't been keeping up with the news but COUSINS is also on the team.

The 2010 had 1 center CHANDLER...Odom played center and the USA still won Gold.

not that big of a blow, just need Lebron and Durant there to dominate

ImmortalD24

LeBron needs to sit it out as well.
Why?

PG: Chris Paul/ Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/ Russell Westbrook/ Eric Gordon
SF: Carmelo Anthony/ James Harden
PF: Kevin Durant/ Blake Griffin
C: Tyson Chandler/ Kevin Love/ Anthony Davis

Can still pull it off imo. :pimp: Still prefer LeBron on the team though.

fuuuuu i always forget about cousins :facepalm

i was going by the roster on their website

http://www.usabasketball.com/mens/national/2012MOLYroster.html

still think spain has the matchup advantage at center. ikaba and pau gasol didn't play in 2010. if pau plays that's two 7 footers and ibaka coming off the bench...quite a bit of size and talent to deal with

The competition will be tougher at the olympics than the last world cup.

dude, that's crazy talk. a lot of the games are really, really close. brazil almost beat us in 2010, and if kobe didn't go god mode in 2008 spain could have very easily won the gold

 If Lebron doesn't play then there is no chance that the U.S gets the gold. With LeBron playing, the US is probably the favorites to get the gold but I wouldn't even say it would be a major upset if the U.S loses with LeBron playing.

U.S. better starts hoping that other players from other countries start to withdraw or get injured cause it is looking like a harder and harder path.

Lots of confident people in here clearly didn't see the Olympics in 2004, or the close games in 2008.

So Dwight is out, Bosh is out, Rose is out, and Wade. 3 out of 4 players from last year's olympic team gone. I would like for LeBron to get rest, but now its more important than ever to represent Team USA as a leader. Durant will be there this time, so things won't be as difficult.

I'm surprised they allowed LeBron on the team given what supposedly happened last time around. Durant and company will be more than enough to compete, and probably win a Gold medal.

Wasn't that from 2004-2006. He got over that in 08 with Kobe and Kidd on that team he stepped it up as one of the leaders.

LBJ and Durant are still on the team. It is virtually impossible for that team to lose wit those two playing. The odds of them losing are almost zero. Top 2 players in the world? Come on now. Then you also have Kobe, Melo, etc.

What the hell are you talking about? Dwyane Wade was the star of the olympic team in 2008.

Can't help but laugh at people who think just showing up wins the Gold anymore. Those days are long gone for the U.S.A, and its only going to get tougher as better talent continue to develop even more across the world, mainly Spain. This ain't the 90's anymore.

No D12, no Bosh, no D-Rose or Wade. Not good.

Eat Like A Bosh
06-29-2012, 11:38 PM
Team USA is still stacked. Even with Wade, Bosh, D12 gone, they still have Durant, LeBron, Kobe CP3, D-Will. Their frontcourt is looking a little thin, but they'll be fine.

tommy3

Team USA has the best FIBA player in the world in Durant. A borderline all-star big would be more than enough to overcome Spain's great frontcourt.

Argentina's core players are a bunch of old guys. USA, Spain, and France will be my top 3 teams in the Olympics.
