I don't see any player with that drive in the NBA these days.

KG? CP3? Those are just two I thought of immediately. Dying breed sure... last of his kind? Nope.

Many players in the NBA are like that.

Do you also mean that kind of mentality with THAT kind of talent? Sure it's rare... Or else everyone would be battling to get in the top 10 all time.

Killer mentality? Hardwork? Competitive? Sounds like the exact description of the number 2 pick not even a week ago. Come on son.

Kobe said that CP3 and Rose were the only players left in the game with his competitive fire and never quit attitude... so I'd take his word for it. CP3 is a dog. He will punch you in the balls, bite you, tornado flop and whatever else he can to win.

Kobe said that CP3 and Rose were the only players left in the game with his competitive fire and never quit attitude... so I'd take his worst for it. CP3 is a dog. He will punch you in the balls, bite you, tornado flop and whatever else he can to win.

I'd say rose is closer than cp3. Cp3 is too open to facilitating at the end of games. He will put up 30 but never go for that 35. He'll hit 2 shots but then look to pass 3rd time. He has the competitive spirit but he doesnt have the ego. KG does. Rose is kind of close.

but yea i mean kobe knows better than me.. gotta question how much he actually wants to answer truthfully tho

Well I think what OP means is competitive fire... not necessarily who takes the most shots.

Edit: My bad... he DID say "style of play" and I missed it. Okay then the answer to the question is no when you combine all of those things.

MisterAmazing
07-02-2012, 03:08 AM
KG for sure, Russell Westbrook also has a huge competitive drive. He carried the Thunder in a few of the Finals games just to keep them in the game til the end. I think Durant also has the drive, to a lesser extent.

GOATbrook .. if you dont want him to chuck ... he will still chuck :D

But on a sidenote, Westbrook is a solid example as well as Rose/KG/CP3.

I've been excited about Kyrie Irving ever since I saw his High School highlights. That kid has a feel for the game that's rare for his age. Handles himself like a vet. Came up clutch at the end of a few games too. A shame he's in Cleveland

I don't see any player with that drive in the NBA these days.

I hope not. I see Austin Rivers with that Kobeness at times, but it is too early to say anything on him. But to answer your question, I really don't see anyone out there that compares to Kobe and his ability to overachieve.

The haters can say whatever they want to say about Kobe. But the fact of the matter is, Kobe did not just rest on his talent alone. Kobe's goal wasn't just to to make it in the NBA or to be a decent player. He set the bar at the top. His goal was to be the best. And I really don't see too many players with that, like you said, have that drive or that mentality to be the best like Kobe.

Is Kobe an endangered species? Why not just keep him a sanctuary and let him mate with hundreds of females so he won't be the last of his kind.

...or maybe, we can stuff him like the Duck Billed Platypus and place him in a museum where people from all over the world can see this last of it's kind creature for years to come

Rajon Rondo? I don't know many other players who dislocated their elbow in the middle of the game and then came back to lead his team to a win

I'd have to go with Rose. Westbrook has most of the drive to be great but isn't as great of a student of the game. Kobe lives and breathes basketball.

Mentality/Competitiveness? Lebron right now.... and even better at that... also guys like CP3/KG...

Style of play? Chucking ridicilous amount of shots at low percentage singing "Like Mike, if i could be like Mike"? Nobody.... well, maybe Westbrook a bit..

Lebron is not anywhere near as competitive as Kobe and I hate Kobe.

Kobe would never join up the way Bron did.

The knee injury will add to the legacy of Droses career.

Ppl are forgetting about him in the mean time but just wait. He won't go out like this. Gonna come back a stronger player with a modified style.
