Teague-Harris-Morrow-Jenkins-Stevenson in a small ball lineup.

The Clips should be getting a little nervous about CP3 leaving with this deal. Atlanta is much closer to home for both Paul and Howard, and if they can add another piece to Horford, Smith, and Teague they could have an excellent team.

Whats wrong with Alec Burks?

hawkfan
07-02-2012, 07:17 PM
Marvin actually would be best suited at power forward due to his size and his quickness.

He's not that great. Maybe a change of scenery will do him good, but there is no great point guard to run the show in Utah. Maybe they will add one.

Maybe the Jazz will make a big offer to Steve Nash.

I always thought of Marvin as a good player, but not what everyone expected him to be.

If he were a late lotto to mid first round pick, no one would talk shit about him. But, alas, he was the #2 overall pick so criticism is warranted.

IGotACoolStory
07-02-2012, 07:24 PM
Marvin can't play SG, from what I saw. He's more of a SF/PF than SG/SF. He's too slow laterally to guard... Guards.

I always thought Marvin needed a change of scenery. He was too easily allowed to be stuck behind the light with guys like Crawford and Johnson letting it fly all game. In Utah, thinking he is a starter (is he?), he will be forced to take a bigger role offensively. He still shows some decent potential, imo, even though he will never live up to that #2 pick hype.

Utah are looking good all of a sudden.

CT: Jefferson/ Kanter

Devin Harris is still capable of putting up 20/7. He hated being on the Jazz and it clearly showed. Maybe being on the East coast in the ATL might change his mindset because his skill did not go anywhere. This guy was an all-star and 29, he has all-star numbers left in him.

Another stroke of genius for Danny Ferry. Rick Sund was an idiot I don't know why he didn't make at least 1 of these moves. ATL is either rebuilding or waiting for free agency OR planning to go through Free Agency and rebuilding as a contingent plan.

It's 8.2 mil this season and next season a 7.5 mil player option, and if Marvin plays well than he probably opts out, but this is a good deal for the short term.

Anyway, here's the minute distribution I think will be handled, since I think the roster is basically filled out.

PG: Mo Williams (34) - Tinsley/Watson (14)
SG: Hayward (32) - Burks (23)
SF: Marvin Williams (27) - Carroll (12) - Murphy (0)
PF: Favors (26)/Millsap (26) - 5th Big (0)
C: Jefferson (32) - Kanter (14)

Marvin and Carroll might get reduced minutes to compensate for Favors and Millsap.

Ferry isn't doing that trade. That trade is horribly one sided.

That was Sund's idea anyways and he is gone. Beside the report was the Lakers wanted Smith/Teague/and a 1st.

Milsap at the three with those guys was a devastatingly powerful frontcourt. Expect to see that against the playground teams like the Heat, OKC, etc, who have nothing down low.

This.

Both sides got a good deal. Marvin's going to help us with defense and three point shooting, I'm not expecting him to become some All-Star but I think he can have an improvement with the Jazz's flex offensive system and a fresh start.

07-03-2012, 02:36 AM
Apparently people have not been following Devin Harris the past 2.5 years. He is done. They just want him for the expiring contract. Works well for both teams. Hopefully Williams can shine with more playing time, but I think Jazz fans will simply be happy with some solid defense and 35%+ 3pt shooting, which he should be able to deliver without any trouble.

Marvin and Carroll might get reduced minutes to compensate for Favors and Millsap.

Let's hope you are wrong. Jefferson needs to go cheer for San Antonio elsewhere and Watson and Bell need to go too. Murphy shouldn't be taking a roster spot unless it's in the D-league. I see Marvin Williams off the bench right now. They need a shooter off the bench. Ideally they'll have another vet to start opposite Hayward. Howard maybe? Or Demarre I guess. Still love to see more of a pass first pg with Mo off the bench as well but he might work with Hayward at the point forward?

They are certainly better but there's work to be done yet. Wonder if it's more or less likely they extend Millsap now with Marvin on the books next year?

Isn't teague better than Harris?

Who isn't?

doubt he gives much effort considering he wants to start on a winning team, not ride the pine.

He'll be lucky to be in the league next year. He better give an effort.

Marvin's a good shooter, isn't he?

He was last year. Hopefully it wasn't a fluke. Should be a good 6th man at least.

Whats wrong with Alec Burks?

Beside being young?

Maybe a change of scenery will do him good, but there is no great point guard to run the show in Utah. Maybe they will add one.

Maybe the Jazz will make a big offer to Steve Nash.

That would be the ideal situation.

Devin Harris is still capable of putting up 20/7.

You might get half that.

lol at favors not starting. every single person who follow the jazz all agreed at the end of the season that Favors is the BEST player on the team, you always should start your best player

Best defensive interior player. Very raw offensively still. Starting with Millsap/Hayward/Mo he can concentrate on D though.
