According to sources, Josh Smith has turned into lead recruiter trying to convince Dwight Howard to consider playing in Atlanta long term.

Solid idea. Hopefully Smith can pick up that jump shot and spread out the front court.

Why not? Miami fans are just as bad, if not worse, than ours. Sure we have no history, but does that really matter at this point?

If we get Dwight paired with J-Smoove, you don't think CP3 is going to get here ASAP? Imagine the alley oops! Imagine the post defense! That team, if supported with a good cast, could take on the Heat.

If he had a brain he would realize he's a much better BOsh role. Come to laekrs for pau. Have howard sign extension forbynum. Get it done

why is josh smith wearing an angels cap?
Well it's Josh Smith.

The cap is Red and Blue with an A

Which local sports team also had Red and Navy colors with their logo being an A.

I wouldn't put it past Josh if he really thought that was a Braves hat

actually this team has a pretty damn rich history.

Petit, Maravich, Wilkins, Rivers, Mutombo.. a lot of good players have donned a Hawks jersey

Why not? He's from the South, and he clearly wants in on some sort of Big 3 situation so he can have a shot at some rings. He's balking at resigning with the Clippers, and even though he'd like to play for the Knicks, at some point he'll have to choose between being famous for playing in MSG and actually trying to win something in this league.

Not it doesn't, it has a lot of history due to the fact that it's an old franchise, but with a grand total of ZERO conference finals appearances, it's a drab one.

The Heat sold out every game last season, and had more fans total in that building during the regular season than the Knicks did.

Here is most likely what is going to happen:

Well... I'm not sure that Harris/Teague/Smith/Horford/ZaZa and Morrow is enough to take the Hawks out of the loto. I mean, they did win 60% of their games despite Al being out basically the entire year and everyone else being banged up. Which means that at the end of the season they could get left with a crappy mid-upper first round pick and nobody to take their money.

Harris was a poor fit for Utah... But he can still be a 15/7 guard, maybe Teague gets a little better and Josh Smith and Al can still have really good years and the team can still push for 40 something wins.

I think Dwight and Josh Smith would work extremely well together. Smith is a perimeter oriented big on both defense and offense, but is also a fantastic help defender, and Dwight is of course the best rim protector in the league. You could put homeless people around those two and they'd have an awesome defense.

That would be a great team. It would be nice to see another team compete for the championship.

One of the few Hawks (him, Horf and Ivan) that actually gave a care about winning. Joe and Marvin surely didn't.

Heck I never though Bosh would win a championship. But he played his role.

actually this team has a pretty damn rich history.

Macauley, Pettit, Hagan, Wilkens, Hudson, Maravich, Wilkins, Mutombo.. a lot of good players have donned a Hawks jersey
Fixed. I'm assuming St Louis Hawks count as Pettit was on the original list, others such as Zelmo Beaty, Joe Caldwell and Moses Malone were considered.

Not it doesn't, it has a lot of history due to the fact that it's an old franchise, but with a grand total of ZERO conference finals appearances, it's a drab one.
If you're using the term franchise then the Hawks have an NBA title (13 franchises don't), because it is the same franchise in the same way that the Kings are the same franchise as the Rochester Royals.
In any case the 69 and 70 Hawks made the (Western) conference finals http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/ATL/

Anyway an Atlanta superteam is by no means a fait accompli but seems like a possibility now.

Dwight especially seems a realistic possibility given the ties to Atlanta and Josh Smith. He hasn't listed them as a destination previously, but then they were never in a position to make a play for him. Now without Johnson's contract they are, so it's certainly possible that he might interested.

Paul would be tougher. He'd have to leave money on the table and piss off a fanbase of a team who gave up some assets for him. Still a Howard, Horford, Smith and maybe Morrow as a shooter is a possibility and would be the not only the best team available to him but the best team in the league. It would properly annoy those who dislike superteams though.

Change your username to DuMbAsS please. You actually think people who wear hats have ties with the area of a team you nitwit? :biggums:

I have on Jordans right now.

DuMbAsS "That is just so confusing. Your favorite basketball player of all time is Pippen though. Weird. Anyone know why GOBB has on Jordans?"
