please don't cite PER
doesn't account for defense (other than steals + blocks), has low consistency year-to-year, poor r^2 (both for individual and team outcomes), doesn't actually measure anything, comes from box score computation, etc.
use WS (and WS/48, DWS, OWS, and other subordinate metrics instead)

   At Jordan's stats
33/6/6/3/1 on 52%
   At Lebron's as well
28/7/7/2/1 on 48%
Kobe's stats pale in comparison to those two, but it's a bit deceptive when you when figure in his first several years.
As far as accolades, I'd have to put Jordan last at this age. Kobe vs Lebron I'm really not too sure
3x Championship vs 1x Championship, 3x MVP, 1xFMVP

Jordan was given a green light from the get go because he was coming out of college and was drafted to a shit team.
Kobe's stats are very deceptive though because of the reasons you mentioned, though it be hard to argue that those same circumstances didn't significantly help him in the accolades dept.

let's not forget this pauk guy:
So in one week, Pauk has stated:
- The 2012 Pacers were better than the 1984 Bernard King-led NY Knicks.
- The 2012 Celtics were better than the #2 seed, Don Nelson
coached, only team to sweep Bird in the playoffs, 1984 Milkwaukee Bucks.
- The 2012 Thunder were better than the Showtime, Magic and Kareem-led, 1984 Lakers.
- The current roster of:
Bynum/Jordan Hill
Gasol/McRoberts
Artest/Devin Ebanks
Kobe/Goudelock
Nash/Steve Blake
is the "most stacked team" of all time.
Please Pauk, please continue to bless us with your basketball wisdom
You are officially the dumbest person I've ever met. And I've never even met you :oldlol:
All just to prop Lebron up upon the All Time list, and elevate his status in the court of public opinion. And to simultaneously undermine Kobe's past and future status as an Top 10 Player of All Time, because you can't stand that the majority of America, and likely the WORLD, views Kobe as the current bar for greatness, with 5 rings and 7 Finals appearances.
If I could slap you, I probably wouldn't. I hear ignorance is a disease, and I'd hate to get contaminated by your consistent idiocy. I'll just sit here and laugh instead

He had reason to leave
He didn't have the team that would make Playoffs every year before he came
He didn't have Shaq in his prime that would carried his team to championship
He didn't have any prime super star want to come to help him (don't mention Shaq he was just decent C at that time)
What he had was the second worst team in the league.
He deserves respect because
He current MVP FMVP Champion no matter how he makes it
He single handedly make the second worst team in the league (19-63) the best regular season team (61-21)
And the most important he's way better than you in term of Basketball which we concentrate here .
In the other hand
S.Pippen join 3 super star in Houston Rockets rather than stay and prove he could win without MJ.
Kevin Garnett join 2 super star in Celtics.
Clyde Drexler join Defending Champion Houston Rockets.
And more important Kobe demanded trade in 2007 (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2886927) when he think he couldn't win with this current team .Thanks God, Pau Gasol came and the Lakers name is big enough to held him.

Being a 60 win team and having the number 1 record 2 years straight is one of the worst teams in the league now? :biggums: Having a number 1 defensive rating is the worst in the league now? Wow, i learn something new everyday. Funny how no one said it was a bad team, until they got exposed by Spurs in the finals. Funny how when they were favored to win back in 09/10, they were "OMG SO GOOD", then got their ass handed to them once again, now they are a bad team. You can name who ever you want on the roster, give what ever excuses, point is you don't make it to the finals having a bad team, nor do you have the best record in the league and can be considered a bad team.
And to answer the 2nd part, yup i respect Kobe. Cause even though he b*tched and wanted a trade, he stuck it out. Just like i respect Lebron for leaving Cleveland in 2010 when his contract was up.

Is that what all you got? Can even defend your boy.. Your just being pathetic for what you're doing..
But you respect a player who demanded trade to the Lakers as a rookie
Charlotte drafted Kobe already knowing that they were trading him to the Lakers. Kobe never demanded to leave Charlotte. It was a prearranged deal that Charlotte would take him and trade him to the Lakers. Jerry West was thrilled with Kobe after his workout with the Lakers and went after Kobe with everything he had. Charlotte chose Vlade as their missing piece after they had won 50 games the last two seasons.
http://www2.journalnow.com/sports/2008/jun/18/lakers-trade-for-bryant-has-been-misconstrued-ar-113126/
"The deal was actually done a day ahead of time, and it was Vlade for a player to be named," said Bill Branch, the Hornets' head scout at the time who still operates out of Charlotte as a scout for the Seattle-now-Oklahoma City Sonics. "If I remember right, they didn't even tell us who they wanted us to pick until about five minutes before the pick was made. So it was never a matter of us actually drafting Kobe."
The trade was more about the Lakers' pursuit of Shaquille O'Neal in free agency and the Hornets' need to acquire a center than it was about Bryant.
In order to get far enough under the salary cap to make a valid pitch to O'Neal, the Lakers needed to unload Divac's contract, preferably to a team under the salary cap and preferably for a draft pick. The Hornets had traded Alonzo Mourning the previous year, were without a bona fide center, and were well under the cap after renouncing the rights to free agent Kenny Anderson. They would trade Larry Johnson to New York for Anthony Mason later that summer.
The Hornets reasoned that they could come out of the draft with no better than Vitaly Potapenko or Todd Fuller if they drafted a center, and jumped at the chance to trade the 13th pick for Divac.

I don't know about that. Lebron 3 MVPS, 1 Final MVP>Kobe 0 MVP, 0 Finals MVP. Plus the superior stats/production, etc. Plus Lebron is/was just a flat out better player. Using 27 as a barrier, Lebron is ahead of Kobe by a significant margin.

MJ's birthday comes at the midway point of each season. Basketball Reference lists his age as 27, but he was 28 by the time he won his 2nd MVP and 1st championship. The 89-90 season is the cut-off point you should be looking at.
Lol at this Bandwagon Lebrick Dirkrider stan.. MJ at age 27 only played 7 years in the NBA while Lebrick already had 9 years.. Why dont you put the number of games they played..
And please dont put Lebrick name in the same sentence as this 2 GOAT MJ and Kobe.. Lebrick will never gonna surpass them..
Yes? So... obviously MJ did more in his 7 years, but it is what it is, the accomplishments are as they are... you cant discredit Lebron for being that good/NBA ready at 17-18 years of age... playing in college and winning a championship there might have actually worked in Jordans favor coming in to the NBA, at 21 he came in therefore more finetuned / mature / ready mentally...
PS: Kobe Bryant played 10 seasons

Didnt think of that one, so Lebron basically just got a championship 1 year younger?
Another number crunching thread. Why not just wait until he retires to count up all the accolades, awards, stats and championships and enter that final number through the "GOAT theorem" and let it decide if Lebron is #1?
a, b, c,
easy as 1, 2, 3
or simple as do, re, mi
a, b, c, 1, 2, 3...
Because i thought maybe some more besides me would be interested in seeing how well Lebron is doing right now compared to a GOAT player and a top 10 Player (Kobe)....

Thats really unfair analogy, they were not in the same situation.... Jordan at that time started to get the teammates handed to him on a silverplate.... Lebron didnt, he would remain ringless & "loyal" for the rest of his career if he didnt seriously think about his options (Bulls, Miami, Knicks and so on) as a free-agent... its not like he came to a proven team, he made that team, they go as far as only Lebron can take them and you saw how far he carried them this year...

Lebron doesnt have the potential to surpass MJ. He has the potential to get in the top 5 though. He already lost with HCA 3 years in a row with teams that should have done better than they did.

Jordan never got teammates handed to him. No one Jordan played with was a star player coming in. Lebron came into the league playing with Big Z who was an allstar the year before Lebron came and also in Lebron's 2nd season. Lebron was the one who got teammates handed to him. He got Ben Wallace the only allstar on a team that won it all and then he got Shaq a guy who was a 1x league mvp winner and 3x finals mvp winner and then went to play with Wade a proven winner who won finals mvp.

It's a known fact that lebron played with nothing but scrubs his whole career.
He's never had a star player on his teams, not now and especially not in Cleveland.

Who? Pippen and Grant? There was no guarantee that Pippen would have developed into what he did. Grant was a blue-collar defensive player with a limited offensive game. Lebron joined a Heat team with an established MVP type player in Wade, and a top 5 power forward in Bosh.

What are their accomplishments after nine seasons?
Oldschool made a good point earlier, Jordan missed practically his entire second season with a broken foot, which was probably 2,000 points lost right there. He averaged 28 as a rookie, and 37 his third year, so it's very likely he'd have averaged 30+ in a healthy second season.

Can you eliminate Kobe's first couple of years so that people could stop complaining?
He went to a good team out of high school, it's not fair. Then I guess we would have to eliminate the championships he won because of it.

As you can see Lebron has potential not only to "get close to Jordan", but to even surpass him... he just has to go and do it... surpassing Kobe's career will be a much easier task though....

I always thought Lebron stans were better than Kobe stans that they respected Jordan's legacy and didn't dare to compare them. Turns out they were just waiting for Lebron to win his first... :facepalm
I just don't see Lebron doing the same things he is doing now when he reaches his 30s. Lebron relies too much on his athleticism, he's not as skilled as Jordan or Kobe.

Anybody who really understands basketball already knows that. Sadly though, the minute you say something like that, Lebron fans get all emo, like you have no right to your own opinion, simply cuz it's different from their own.

When the hell did this happen? :oldlol:
The best teammate Jordan ever had, Pippen, took time to develop into an all star caliber player and was brought onto the squad through the draft, not a 'decision' made when he was a bonafide all star. And before that, Jordan's best teammates were guys like Orlando Woolridge and Charles Oakley. Lebron at least had Big Z, Shaq, Carlos Boozer, Antwan Jamison, Ricky Davis, Mo Williams, Drew Gooden, etc. I'm not saying Bron had Kobe's luck when it came to lineups and teammates but he was given some all star caliber talent 'on a silverplate' by the Cavs administration unlike the Bulls who drafted and developed their talent during Jordan's early career.
The Cavs had the best record in the league for consecutive seasons (mostly due to Bron's dominance) and seemed to be on the verge of breaking through ala the Bulls against their tormentors the Pistons before the first 3-peat... but Lebron bailed. Can you imagine if Jordan quit on the Bulls after they lost to the Pistons and decided to team up with Clyde Drexler and Charles Barkley on another team?
No question Lebron is the best player in the league right now, but you must see the difference in how each guy got it done. Can you at least admit that?

please don't cite PER
doesn't account for defense (other than steals + blocks), has low consistency year-to-year, poor r^2 (both for individual and team outcomes), doesn't actually measure anything, comes from box score computation, etc.
use WS (and WS/48, DWS, OWS, and other subordinate metrics instead)
Yeah because accounting for defense is really going to help Kobe's case.
