:wtf: . No... this is about a player who's on the select team and playing like a thug mauling people and bringing his shitty attitude to USA basketball. Kind of a big deal you know...

It's A VC3!!!
07-08-2012, 12:45 PM
That's alittle harsh to say although it's true. But if he was guarding LeBron, Durant, Melo or Griffin, I expect him to be forced to foul them. I think he played a bit of the four and was forced to guard them. Not entirely his fault but we do all know that he needs to mature.

I do agree with you guys his no friends, take no prisoners attitude is totally old school and awesome BUT he can do it with a lot more respect. Hell Kobe has the same attitude and so did Jordan but both were very well liked during their Team USA experiences. You can be both. You can be a hardass who isn't there to make friends but also tone down the attitude or cockiness.

Yea, this just does not correlate with how much better he acted on the court this year, i bet the "stars" got butthurt and he was fouling them so hard and reverted back to the only main widespread rumor/issue they knew about him, which is his maturity and attributed it to his aggresive playstyle, DMC all day.

Like I said... Kobe is at least respectful. He doesn't give a damn about that friendship crap or your feelings but he's not going to go out of his way to randomly be a dick to other players the way Cousins does. If you start roughing up teammates in practice, people are going to think of you as a prick.

I think his attitude is awesome. The 'everybody is friends' atmosphere in the NBA right now is a little over the top, it's good to have some guys who don't give a shit about people liking them.

It's telling that Kobe loves that attitude and wanted him on Team USA.

Compare him to Griffin. Blake is the pretty boy, the whiner and the flopper who gets all the highlights and all the commercials and is friends with everybody. DMC puts up similar stats but fouls hard, makes enemies, and doesn't care if Kevin Durant (or whoever) is giving him hugs after the game. I look forward to seeing him have some heated rivalries with other guys as his career progresses.

I would guess the players would be understanding of a guy who was just out there trying to get it, forcing everyone to go hard while understanding they'd have to attack the rim strong to finish over the top of him. For instance, if Kenneth Faried was in that camp and was committing a lot of fouls as a result of just being incredibly active and working his butt off (while perhaps being innocently out of control) I don't think it'd be an issue.

The fact I'm hearing numerous quotes from various people involved with the team about Cousins' necessity to grow up, makes me feel as though he was just out there hacking about, perhaps finding himself in poor or lazy defensive position and bailing out by fouling.

Don't see anything wrong with this.

1) they're not there to make friends.
2) if you're getting beat easily, you're supposed to get physical. As long as he's not doing flagrant fouls or fouling out, it's all fair game once you step onto the court.

What did Melo expect? No contact sport? This is why he's a loser. If he's a leader of a team, there's no way in hell that team will win a ring.

Cousins is a horrible defender, I have a feeling he was being beat and fouling them instead.

However, the rest of those super friends are wimps. Harden up. He's trying to get on the team by showing he's a tough guy. I like him, even though he is an idiot. He would be the Shawn Kemp of this team, running around grabbing his nut-sack.

Cousins makes most of Team USA experience

LAS VEGAS, NV - DeMarcus Cousins' first Team USA experience was an eventful one.

"Yeah, he was fouling the (expletive) out of everybody," said Carmelo Anthony, following Friday's first day at UNLV.

One of the fouls committed by the 21-year-old Sacramento Kings center was an elbow to the face of Andre Iguodala.

"I knew it was going to be physical, but not this physical; it's almost a fight out there," Cousins said.

Cousins is a member of the U.S. Select Team which will practice against Team USA in preparations for the Olympics in London next month. His odds of making the team are almost non-existent at this point, but that doesn't discourage the Kings young, budding star.

"The atmosphere is crazy, it's very competitive and I'm just enjoying the whole experience." said Cousins. "You won't get this good of a run anywhere else."

Kobe Bryant is among Cousins' biggest supporters and believes he could provide the team with much needed physicality in international play.

"European basketball is extremely physical," Bryant said. "He brings a physicality to the game that really changes the energy of the game. He's not afraid to make contact, he's not afraid to upset guys and kind of make the game uncomfortable."

Bryant said because of Cousins size and that physicality - and his ability to shoot, he'd love to have Cousins on the team in the London games.

Bryant said he's shared his thoughts with Team USA chairman Jerry Colangelo and head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

"It would be an incredible honor, who wouldn't want to play for USA?" Cousins remarked. "If I get my name called, I gladly accept, if not, I'm still going to enjoy the experience."

The 12-man Olympic team will be announced on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas. Sacramento Kings public address announcer Scott Moak will emcee the event.

team usa needs size and i would've preferred they take cousins over harden iguodala, but coaches aren't just gonna throw someone under the bus because melo or whoever don't like being fouled. he's always had attitude problems that aren't related to 'toughness' and that shit is catching up with him

Yea they did it. But it was worth it. Cousins is a good talent but he's not the once a decade type. He's not even allstar talent yet. He's above average now but not great so it's not worth it yet. Him as a player now is all about his POTENTIAL. His talent now is not worth the team to take him in with that attitude.

I doubt cousins lats long in the NBA. It's a shame to waste all that talent, but the dude is a dick.

If Ron Artest can make it 10+ years in the NBA, anyone can, let alone DeMarcus Cousins.

I think this is being blown out of proportion and it's kind of sad actually that Colangelo is sh*tting on Cousins so hard for something that probably isn't that big of a deal. Don't get me wrong, I know Cousins needs to mature but so do most young NBA players and this kid has a ton of talent and is already one of the better big men in the NBA in only his second year. Colangelo is only adding to this kid's already bad rap, which from what I have read is already more myth than fact (not that there isn't some fact behind it but it's always been way overblown IMO).

If this is just about his physicality in practices than this is a ridiculous criticism, if there is more to it than that, such as him not listening to Coaches or causing REAL tension with teammates than I understand. But if this is just because he's fouling players hard in practice than Colangelo and the players need to grow a pair, this is a man's game and physical big men are a good thing in an ever softening League.

I need someone to explain how Cousins is a "great talent." The Kings are no better with him on the floor than when he's out. He's just another middling talent but with a Rasheed-like complex so somehow people think there's something there when there really isn't.

RoseCity07

DeMarcus Cousins brain is underdeveloped. You can't really do anything about that. Just kick him off the team and send him home before he injures a player.

blacknapalm
07-09-2012, 06:13 AM
there's no doubt he's talented and skilled, but he hasn't put the pieces together yet. i don't have any problem with him not making the team. he needs to be more consistent and not just show flashes. he has to earn it and he hasn't done that yet, not even close.

for one, his defense sucks. i don't care about his block numbers. he is constantly out of position and closes out lazily. secondly, i need my damn C to be shooting better than 44% FG. that's what a SG shoots and a slightly inefficient one at that. it's pathetic for a 6'11' center to be shooting around 45%. plain pathetic. he takes dumb shots, either spotting up a short jumper that he doesn't hit consistently enough or isolating and forcing the matter. one oddity with cousins is that he actually shoots better from 16-23 feet than he does from 3-15 feet.

at some point, you can't just keep banking on potential. you have to go with what you see on the court and the results that are produced.
