Man these things were fun. Used to drop them at the mall and watch people below freak out
Any other items from your past kid's today would have no idea about?

My kid loves going outside. He chooses playing soccer or the park over vids anytime. I blame parents for relying on computers and video games as tools to manage their children

They still sell those.
I know they still sell them, I showed them to a bunch of kids in my building and they had no clue what they were.

Yup. I swear my nephew treats playing outside like it's one of his chores. He'll use it to gain leverage/privileges. He'll ask for something and if we say no he'll go "What! But i played outside for like 2 hours today!"
When I was younger I couldn't wait to get outside after i finished my homework. Now it's more like "ok you finished your homework, now go outside for a little while THEN you can play xbox"

Kids think they're punished or in trouble if they get told to go outside.
Mom "Lil Jimmy, go play outside"
Jimmy "Why, what I do?"

Morris Day, it's a shame. One of the coolest cats ever.

I see kids playing with them all the time around the 4th.

Ha? I still think it's still popular here in my country. Parents like cheap and easy to replace toy. But I think it's past its peak popularity though. Beyblades were certainly more popular when I was younger.
I forgot one brand of toys. Made in Japan too. Battery-powered toy cars who bump one another. I also think it's forgotten already.

As for your kids not wanting to go out, I don't get it. My kid LOOOVVEESS to go out and play. As do all kids in the neighborhood and every other kid I know.
I suggest maybe TAKE your kids out and be interactive with them. My son and I go out everyday when we get the chance, even if it's just one on one soccer. And trust me, this kid's room is hooked up with Xbox, Playstation, Wii, a computer, cable, lego out the ying yang......
It's the parents who rely on the video game/computer/TV as a tool to manage their kids that should be blamed or are too lazy to interact. Put some effort into your kid and you'll see. Let's not assume that it's their choice.
