Seriously guys, you gotta go '88 Worthy here, I'll tell you why.
Big Game James is a great player and a great guy. I met him a few years back in a promotion for KCAL-9, a local TV station in LA where they show some Laker games. He was such a cool cat, he autographed a Worthy bobblehead I picked up a few years back and we just sat and chillaxed for a while until the crowds came. Definitely one of the cooler celebs I've ever met.

Kobe's 09 Playoff run
30-5-6 57 TS% Playoffs
34-6-6 63 TS% Conf Finals
32-6-7 53 TS% Finals
4 40+ point games
15 30+ point games
8 8+ assist games
All 4 teams he faced were Top 10 defenses that year.
His 2nd option was Pau Gasol.
Now compare that to the others and it isn't like it's a big deal. :confusedshrug:

I'll take 2010 Kobe because he had a very good playoff run but it's unfortunate people will remember that Finals series.
Although he did stand out as the best player in the series that game 7 made him look bad.
The game was a defensive game and for what he did in the 4th quarter and rebounding is what stood out. For every missed shots from both teams, it seemed like Kobe was the one pulling down the boards.

'02 Shaq. Averaged 29/13/3 with 2.5 bpg in that run, while greatly improving his FT% to 65%. Averaged 30/14/2 with 2.4 bpg vs Sacramento including 41/17 and 35/12/4 in the 2 elimination games and 36/14/4/3, 60 FG% in the finals. Finished the playoffs with six consecutive 30/10 games, only 1 of them was under 35 points at 34 points in the clinching game of the finals.

I was trolling jlauber. I even put white text on that post. :oldlol:
But when you think about it - MJ, Russell, Magic, Kareem, Bird, Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, and Mikan have all had ARGUABLY better careers when you consider accomplishments. And arguably Hakeem as well.
Wilt only won 2 championships, 30 ppg in the regular season, 22 ppg in the playoffs, 18 ppg in the finals, and his FT% drops in the 30 percentage area in the NBA Finals. Lost 5 series with HCA and his coach didn't even play him in the final 5 minutes of game 7 of the 69 Finals.

Dont think anybody cares that Lebron is not on the list. This was a great idea that was ruined when it became a popularity contest rather than what it was intended to be. Kobe has no business that high on the list and it just goes to show that people are biased when it comes to evaluating players achievements and cannot properly talk about basketball without pushing their own agendas.

My vote is for Dirk, but I can see why people vote for Kobe 10. He was unbelievable the entire playoffs, and 3 bad quarters followed with a great final quarter cannot erase that.
Lebron played a mediocre finals series against a team with much weaker defense, while getting a ton of help from the refs and his supporting cast. So you trolls should stop trolling.
Wow, just started reading this. How is anyone taking this list seriously? Kobe's 2009 at #9? Whats worse is you have a bunch of people saying 2010 should be up there now? Half of that playoff run, the 1st round and Finals was sub-par for someone of his standards.
I swear people treat Kobe like he's a little kid that they feel sorry for because they can't justify including him in everything so they just do it anyway :oldlol:
NOBODY right after any of Kobe's playoff runs ever came out and said that it was amazing or anything that special for someone of his standards. NOBODY. No one in the media and no one on these boards. :oldlol: At the thought that any of his runs were as good as 86 Bird, 87 Magic, 97 Jordan, 2002 Shaq, or 2012 Lebron. Its pathetic how much people try to prop him up. Kobe's great because of his longevity and consistency at such a high level. But in a single regular season + 4-round playoff year, he's never done anything that outstanding that stood out with the greats.

Be honest: when LeBron won FMVP, did you cry? :lol
My vote is for Dirk, but I can see why people vote for Kobe 10. He was unbelievable the entire playoffs, and 3 bad quarters followed with a great final quarter cannot erase that.
No he wasn't. For someone of his standards, he was HORRIBLE in the 1st round vs. the Thunder. He looked alot like he did in the 2011 playoffs. And even before game 7 of the Finals, he wasn't that great. He was amazing in the middle 2 rounds, but people are acting like he was playing that way the whole time.

So for a while it was going great, a few trolls but mostly guys like Shaqattack dropping knowledge, etc. I stayed out of it, since I'm relatively new to being a huge NBA fan and a lot of these guys played in 80s/90s. Anyways, then around number 9 (IIRC) LeBron got a huge lead (like 29 votes next closest was like 11) and then someone made a thread saying they'd rep anyone who voted for 84 bird. All the Kobe kidz started voting for 84 bird, and the OP (a kobetard) left the thread open at least 4 times as long as he had left any other thread open to ensure Bird surpassed LBJ. Once that happened, the thread was closed. On number 10, the Kobe kidz conspired again and voted for Kobe 09:oldlol: Most people stopped taking it seriously, so we've just been trolling since then, because it gets the OP flustered. The only person legitimately mad over this is Pauk:oldlol:

He was great in the OKC series after he got his knee drained. He had much better numbers after that and asked his coach to put him on WB who had been killing them up until that point.
Yes, he was amazing in the middle two rounds, just like Lebron was. They both had not-so-stellar finals performances, but at least Kobe's was against one of the best defensive teams of all time. And he was even better in 2009, hence the #9 spot.
I don't see why people are crying about Lebron not being on the list yet. Is it because it is fresh in their memories, or is it because it's Lebron? Dirk easily had a better run in 2011 with less help from teammates and no help from the refs. Why aren't you guys bitching about that?

1970 Frazier > Reed (0.2)
1973 Frazier, Monroe, Jackson > Reed (2.0)
1976 Cowens, Silas > White (0.6)
1977 Lucas > Walton (0.1)
1978 Hayes > Unseld (1.1)
1979 Williams > Johnson (0.5)
1980 Kareem > Magic (0.5)
1981 Bird > Maxwell (0.6)
1985 Magic, Worthy > Kareem (0.5)
1988 Magic > Worthy (1.2)
1995 Drexler > Hakeem (0.2)
2001 Kobe > Shaq (0.1)
2005 Ginobili > Duncan (0.7)
2007 Duncan > Parker (1.7)
2008 Garnett, Allen > Pierce (1.1)
2010 Gasol > Kobe (0.9)
you have a point since you brought up the regular season, but it's by no means the worst selection on this list
I have no dog in this race (haven't pulled for LA since Shaq left in 04), but there's no way Gasol wins the Finals MVP unless
1) he thoroughly outplays Kobe
2) he has monster games to close out the series (Worthy)

Also to get you caught up on this thread...
Wrong.
The vote count was LBJ 29 - Bird 27 at 7: 54 Pacific, before that thread was created. And even then only 4 posters did what that thread said.

Lol @ the Lebron fans getting butthurt over this thread.
kobe fans are seriously shocking to me... have never seen anything like this, not even from Kobe fans... I was just sitting and thinking it has to take major mental disability and blinding by Kobe Bryants genitals all over your face for you in honor of his name to disrespect basketball history like you just did... and just stop with the "Lebron fans are butthurt" excuse, you didnt just vote a much lesser playoff run over much greater playoff run such as 12 Lebron, who cares, whatever, this forum is infested with you... but also:
86 Bird
02 Shaq
98 Jordan
71 Kareem
83 Moses
87 Magic
and so on...
Disrespecting Lebron is one thing, its expected from Kobetards... but you took it to a whole another level when you voted 09 Kobe over any other else playoff runs that were better...
But everything makes sense with you Kobe fans and your actions.... you know why? Because for a Human to like a player so ridicilously much who does nothing but chucks, shotjacks and is extremly selfish such as Kobe while at the same time HATE a player who is extremly unselfish, plays the right way and is one of the best allround players in NBA history, who just won a championship....... then there must be something wrong with your braincells....

Go outside.
You care way too much about some arbitrary poll and what other posters are like on here, where I'm pretty sure their nothing like it in real life.

02 Shaq
He had 1 good game that whole series, which was game 6. Do the games before his knee got drained not count or something?
Lebron was amazing the whole playoffs, not just 2 rounds. Was anyone calling the 2010 Celtics one of the best defensive teams of all-time when Dwyane Wade was destroying them? What about when Lebron was putting up numbers against them despite him pretty much half-assing that series? They were hardly the all-time great defense Kobe fans make them out to be. 2008 were, but not 2010.
And :oldlol: what is this "not so stellar" finals from Lebron in 2012? 29/10/7 on 47% while guarding Durant and limiting him in stretches? And no its not just that its fresh in our memories. No one was talking about Kobe's 2009 or 2010 playoffs like Lebron's right after when it was fresh in our memories. In fact, for some reason we're hearing more propping up of those playoff runs now then we did before. I wonder why? :oldlol:
Dirk did not "easily" have a better run. He was amazing, but he didn't do much else but score in those playoffs.
