Free-agent center Marcus Camby has agreed to join the New York Knicks in a sign-and-trade deal with the Houston Rockets, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Yahoo

The Rockets will receive guard Toney Douglas, forward Josh Harrellson, center Jerome Jordan, second-round picks in 2014 and '15 and cash used to pay Douglas' salary from the Knicks. Camby will get a three-year, $13.2 million contract that contains a partial guarantee in the third season, sources said. Yahoo

The Knicks also intend to retain point guard Jeremy Lin by matching the $29 million offer sheet the Rockets made to him. Yahoo

Honestly, this is all garbage anyway. Douglas needed to go, Jordan is a doubtful NBA player, and Jorts needs some more experience.

To meet the NBAs trade rules.

They can't give Camby 13/2 and have enough filler guys to make the salaries match in a sign and trade. But they can give Camby 13/3 realizing that last year is a token year where he'll probably not contribute.

And Miami just got Ray feckin' Allen, I think they'll be fine without Camby who to be frank would have less of a role in Miami's small ball game in the playoffs.

Don't be so mad.

Why are you quoting me then within the quote, quoting again "garbage player to a garbage team" - when I never said such a quote.

I talk in facts. Look up my posts. I wanted a 3/4, not a 5.
I was happy to take a 5 like Camby, for a small price.
The contract he has signed, and the assets traded for him make me laugh. Its poor management, but thats not surprising from this organisation.
On an elite team, Camby is a 10mpg player, and I would snap him up in a heartbeat for the vet min.
The heat don't need Camby. Havent they shown that? What's changed?
Brooklyn gets Howard? Camby can't stop him.
As I said, he would be a nice pinch hitter on a good team like Miami, and will probably do fine for the knicks. But I wouldn't have given up what they did, for a guy turning 39.
But I am bias, as Camby is a fave of mine and would have loved him at a good price for the Heat, to play minimally.

Ok which team has made moves to crush the front line?
The Heat have beaten all the front lines.
They rely on elite defensive IQ and quickness to win games on the defensive end. That doesnt change.
Would Camby improve that? Only slightly. But it doesnt need improvement.

Noobs dont realise, the Heat employ defensive strategies where the 4 and 5 are required to rotate right out to 3 PT line and switch on to smaller players. Camby cannot do this.

Would I like to have him? yes at the veteran min as he would be good for 10-15 mpg to throw a different look out there, and strenghen rebounding if its becoming an issue in a particular game.

With Allen, now they have a dead eye shooter to play 20-25 mpg off bench and stand on perimeter eating open shots.
Importantly, he is an outstanding professional.
Allen is much more important than Camby.
Especially if Miller retires.

And although Camby is being slightly overpaid, it is a very good signing. The Knicks flow changes completely when Chandler goes out of the game and we negated a lot of the rebounding/defense because of it. Camby playing off the bench is going to help those two weaknesses.

Can the Knicks still match the offer for fields and then flip him for Amir Johnson or Kleiza in a S&T? (or even better, get Bayless)

Why would Toronto do that?

Why would Toronto do that?
For the same reason that we gave up the farm for Camby. To conserve their cap space and get rid of a bad contract. From what I understand they are around 6.5 mil under cap and could use that money on another FA.

Wait....we give up Jorts, Jordan and Douglas AND TWO SECOND ROUNDERS? :facepalm

thats what I first thought

i initially read, that Houston would not get all those assets for Camby. Guess twitter is wrong once in a blue moon, huh

seems like quite a bit to trade off but i've always liked camby and it's cool that's he's back in NY.

They gave up the last 3 guys off the bench and harrelson isnt a difference maker now
Or ever. Im sure they would prefer to keep him, but add jeffries and harrelson doesn't matter. The knicks guard position was one of the worst in basketball and their primary problem last year (until lin, and that only lasted for a sec), and douglass still couldn't really crack rotation with 2 different coaches. The 2nd round picks are all houston wanted, and really all that was traded. but in a win now situation, you trade second rounders.
