Either it means the Nets actually think this will force ORL into making the trade, or it signals the end of their pursuit. I think the latter as the other deal(s) are far more enticing.

He is a 20 ppg scoring center. Only 3 exist in the NBA currently. He is worth the max in my opinion. Yes his rebounding is poor but he has it in him. He did average 9 rebounds one season and he didn't just forget how to rebound. Plus the dude had a knack to put up HUGE points. He is probably the most likel center to put up a 50 point game. He had 38 this season so that's not a far stretch.

Nets logic= "Listen here Orlando, I'll do it! I'll take myself right out of the running for a HOF center to max out a SG stuck in a slow C's body! Damnit I swear I'll do it"

Hes a center who can score 17-20 a game if you give him the ball and get out of the way.

Thats all it takes. Shit...thats a lot more than it takes.

98 Ike Austin would get 11 million a year this offseason.

Billy King Wasted so many good Assets between Cap space, Expiring COntracts and multitude of draft picks and SHOULD of done alot better. If he didnt waste that Draft pick on Wallace He could of traded #6 pick and Lopez and future picks to Magicand D12 would of already been a Net. Instead he is Wasting Money on bad contracts and the Nets will be a first round Playoff exit type of team instead.

If Lopez is healthy and Humphries comes back and Brooks isn't traded, Nets have

PG: Williams
SG: Johnson
SF: Wallace
PF: Humphries
C: Lopez

with Brooks and Evans off the bench.

Should be enough to get into the playoffs.

Hes like 23 or 24. Teams never assume youre Greg Oden or Yao Ming till you break 3 years in a row. People break a foot, suffer complications that double the expected recovery time, and then never get hurt again(Jordan for one). Cant call it. But at least it isnt a knee.

Though Waltons main issue was a foot....

He is better than Hibbert, 4/58m or 5/78m is fine for him.

It's obvious that he will decline. However, he can still be very productive until his contract runs out or near the tail end of it.

D-Will - Taylor

This team looks pretty capable of making it to the ECF, but no further than that.

I hope Lopez stays and plays in Brooklyn though because that means Howard doesn't play there. I want Dwight to go to any team except the Nets since that is his preferred destination.

i feel bad for nets fans

their team has sucked for so long and now they probs wont get howard so they will continue to suck for the foreseeable future.

if only howard didnt opt in then he would be a free agent and definitely a net by now

edit: actually they wont suck, thats unfair to say, but they aren't favourites... although their lineup could still be very good

This is a 20/8 big guy, who was an iron man prior to a foot injury.

Sure, offer him $5m.

Meanwhile, in reality he declines and someone pays him max and gets a top centre while you cant get a bucket inside the paint.

Yea, it sucks dude. Orlando has the leverage right now, and they don't have a retarded GM like their last one. Therefore we'll be seeing rumors/drama and other BS for the next few weeks or even months.

Surprised that not more teams are jumping into the Dwight rental, hell even mid season prior to playoffs they could pull something off.

Lopez is young and has tons of room to improve. His job will be a lot easier and he can focus on more than 1 side of the court now that he has help.

He doesn't need to improve much. He is worth the money to the Nets for being 7 foot and a great player.

If you are 7 foot and a good to average player, they aren't getting much less.

In fact some people need to check the salaries, plenty of worse players are on more money.

Yao was 7'6 he must have gobbled up at least 20 per game. Oh wait... It about how you position yourself. Humphries is barely 6'9" and got 11 per game. Brookhas had years of better rebounding numbers. The last two seasons were affected by, first season: MONO, and last season: broken toe. And he doesn't play the best defense but you guys make it sound like he is playing Derek Fisher D. I think a lot of you guys are just so used to seeing people say his d isn't great that you think he doesn't play it at all. He's a really good help defender.

I don't think he is worth max. But 6 mill(close to MLE) no way. He has more value than that.let's be real

If Lopez can grab more than 8 rebounds a game, he's somewhat worth it. But it doesn't matter. Everybody is getting overpaid.

Trentknicks
07-11-2012, 05:25 AM
He shouldn't be earning over 10mill/year, he is good offensively but brings nothing that you really want from a centre. Defense, rebounding and shotblocking are all pretty poor. I mean he can be a legit 20ppg center but you really need a tough presence inside.

Niko do you remember the thread where people said he wasn't getting

Both of the Lopez twins suck. At least Brook can score consistently though I guess...

But there's no way in hell Brook is worth even 10mil a year. He's garbage in almost every area aside from scoring.

They're ready to move on. Finally. They're paying him this much because at this point, it doesn't really matter. Won't have cap space for the next 4 years anyway. And Prokhorov laughs at the luxury tax.

People are going to find out how good Lopez is this year. Mark it down. He averaged over 8 RPG his first 2 years. Got sick and it sapped his strength for the season, and unfortunately had foot problems last year. This is his year playing with Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.

The news is Brook may start looking at offer sheets, with Charlotte as the team most interested. Apparently after all summer being told that he would get max dollars, the Nets putting clauses in the last few years to reduce guaranteed money if injured aren't making him happy. We should know pretty soon. It looks like they may have reached an impasse.
