Kobe has had high praise for Westbrook's mentality regarding the game of basketball over the last 3 years. His latest was this:

"That kid's cuckoo like I am."

After Kobe retires, there won't be a player in the NBA with the crazy "must win" attitude that he possesses except Westbrook. This dude won't even shake the hands of opposing players before tip-off because he's mentally focused on destroying them.

He may not be one of the all-time greats like Kobe, but he certainly has the same mindset. It'll be fun to watch as he continues to develop as a player.

Not only that, he plays harder than anyone, ever.


Off the court he is constantly telling the guys what to eat, how to stretch, the importance of cold showers/baths, visualization/meditation techniques, lucid dreaming, and keeping a fresh and positive mind to avoid physical exhaustion....

Westbrook is a super talented guy and I'm sure he works hard but he hasn't yet demonstrated that his "mentality" is in the Jordan-Kobe zone. Maybe he will somedy but I doubt it. I'm impressed with his athleticism and his wet mid-range jumper but I'm not impressed with him as a player. I prefer a 38 year old Steve Nash over that guy. He doesn't play smart in my opinion and he's not a point guard.
