Now all I need to know is Mavs bid the minimum. Then go after Scola, too. :lol

Mavericks quietly building quite a nice team.
Shawn Marion
Dirk Nowitzki
Elton Brand
Chris Kaman
Pretty impressive front court, if a little on the older side.

Nice fit for Brand.
If they get Scola, they'll have the best PF rotation in history! Dirk/Scola/Brand

$2.1 million, a steal

That gives the Mavs enough room for a minimum bid on Scola and makes sure he
im surprised more teams didnt bid higher than 2.1M but then again maybe they want scola or haywood instead
I feel sorry for Dallas though. They're getting all these players but all in same position. If only Brand and Scola weren't PF's.

If they get Scola, they can definitely flip him to a team thats over the cap for a nice return, Spurs, Clippers, Nets, etc.
Sean Highkin: Clippers paid Ryan Hollins more than the Mavs' amnesty bid for Elton Brand.

because thats the stipulation of the clause. Amnesty players cant be traded for 1 year. you win the bid on him, you must keep him for a year.

2.1M was the winning bid
That's nothing.
Why didn't another team bid higher?
If the Mavs add Scola, then adding Scola, Brand and Kaman is pretty good for this off-season.
no pun intended

Can someone clarify how amnesty bidding works? Is it silent?

Like the Cavs or whoever else with capspace couldn't have used his veteran leadership for ONE YEAR for more than that? Jesus christ.

yea
Sactown claimed Travis Outlaw for 3 mil
now they have to pay 3 mil each year until his contract is up. I think he got 3 years left
but EB is on his final year of his deal

The new CBA says it is just a 48 hour window.
We shall know Scola by Sunday.

wow. Thought he had a couple years left. Strange that they would use an amnesty on an expirer.
I suppose they really needed room immediately.

I believe they needed the space so they could offer nick young, which still seems ridiculous to me.

PF- Dirk/Brand
C- Kaman/Brand

One open rosterspot for another SG. Carter and DoJo are probably in danger of being moved before the season starts. The rest should make the opening roster unless a no brainer comes along.

Twolves just waived Martell Webster for 600k, he would have made 5.7mil next year. He made 2mil and 4mil in the years before that. You could probably get him for 1.5mil (absolutely not more than 2mil) one year contract. He can come off the bench. I know he doesn't have the best NBA IQ (his dunk rather than 3 when they were down 3 points, his failed dunk that got stuck on the rim). Still someone that can do things for real cheap.

Decent backcourt but even worse backcourt. They also have no shooters outside of Dirk either.
Nice and impressive indeed. But what's the point when that team isn't winning anything? :confusedshrug:What's the point of what? Are you saying teams who aren't "considered" championship contenders should try to improve their roster at all?

My boys just need a nice young shooting guard and we will be back in the Finals.

Good pickup, especially for the price tag. He isn't what he used to be, but at 2.1 mil, he'll provide good D and hustle. Plus him and Kaman are one of the few PF/CE combinations to haee 20/20 together in one game, watch em do it again. Imagine if those four forwards were in theirprime, oh my.
So when are they signing Maggette and Livingston?
Radmanovic and Ross are also available. Bring Mobley and Cassell out of retirement as well.

Radmanovic and Ross are also available.Radmanovic seems like a Cuban Move. Mark will sign him after having a vision of him having a 7x3pt-fg game in the playoffs against the new look lakers.

Great pickup.
If they can get a three point shooter and some type of athletic post defender off the bench, they'll be more than respectable next year while still being able to compete in free agency.
You don't always get the results you want, but the Mavs' strategy is solid. Buying low is something they tend to do well.

Nice way of beefing up the frontcourt. BTW, can the Mavs still make a move on Scola after picking Brand up?
