Pretty good move by the Knicks actually. I'd honestly take Felton over Lin. I know Felton was mostly garbage last year, but he was pretty good in NY. Giving Lin a huge contract would be dumb. The guy had a few good games last year. Big whoop.

We could still match Lin. We have 3 days starting Monday to match but this situation is such a mind**** I don't know what will happen.
Return of Marcus Camby & Kurt Thomas?
Holy shit.
This is unbelievable.
Now let's bring back Ewing as an assistant coach.

Felton looked okay in NY when he was playing for Mike D'antoni. But Lin looked better.
And now it's Mike Woodson. Iffy move.

im sorry to see him go but he was basically at a point late in the season where he could go 10 minutes before his legs went and he'd need to miss a few weeks. I'm not sure what he had left. Loved him though.

They don't, but the only concern is the luxury tax.
Kidd has no foot speed left and will get destroyed by Rondo in the playoffs.
Felton, if he is in shape and mentally there, could at least be decent. Who knows.

It's pretty funny how people think that Lin is automatically replaced just because Felton is brought in. The Knicks still need a SG with Shumpert being out for the 1st half of the season and either Felton, Kidd, or Lin could play that role for that time being.
It's not like the Knicks can't match in terms of salary because they can. Knicks are gonna have a tax bill to pay regardless of whether or not they match Lin.

Kurt Thomas - turns 40 on October 4th
Jason Kidd - turns 40 on March 23rd
Marcus Camby - turns 39 on March 22nd
Dammit, I was hoping Camby turned 40 next season so the Knicks could have three 40 year olds on their team next season. Still, has there ever been a team that had two 40 year olds and a 39 year old on their roster at the same time at any point in the season?

Agreed.
Most Knicks fans are annoying around here, but I absolutely wouldn't mind them trolling the hell out of the posters that are laughing their ass off right now, believing Lin's stay in NY is over.
Knicks would be deeper in tax hell, but, like you said, they will be regardless. Not matching Lin at this point would just be a move to free up a roster place really.
That $15 Million in the third year is crazy considering the production Lin provides, and Houston truly were savy jackasses in throwing that wrench in the Knicks' future salary situation. But, there really is no reason not to match Lin; deal with that problem when you cross that bridge as an organization.
Right now, the team has a window of opportunity, and it requires the most talent on the floor as possible.
The Knicks didn't bring in Felton to play SG... And neither Lin or Kidd are capable of starting (or playing for that matter) a big chunk of games at the two without disastrous results. I'd say there's about a 95% chance Lin is gone from NY. Houston screwing the Knicks with the backloaded contract worked.
But in all reality if they get the Raymond Felton they had when he was there before, when Amare was the only star in town, the Knicks will be in solid shape. Like I've said before, Lin is going to have a down to Earth year this coming season and people will see he's an average PG. Of course if he has the chance of playing with Dwight and his game improves because of it, people will be putting him back on that pedestal.
felton is a good backup for kidd. funny how he and thomas both are former knicks players.
por gets jeffries and cap space when(if) they waive gadzuric.

3yrs for 10 mil seems very cheap for Felton considering the outrageous contracts being given out. Much better on-the court value than Lin. Shit, I'd rather have Felton at 3yrs/10mil than Nash at 3yrs/27mil
TheMarkMadsen

I don't understand why so many people think Kidd is the starting pg, he went there to be a back up.
Felton/Kidd is a pretty solid pg rotation, considering all of the injuries the knicks had to their pg last year they probrably wanted some insurance.
If they do decide to Keep Lin however, I don't see how having 3 pgs who can't play a lick of sg will help them?
Jr is their starter at the 2, Lin could MAYBE play some 2 behind smith, but I doubt their going to shell out that much cash for lin not to start.
If Lin starts, I could see a Kidd/Felton back court at times, the 2 pg system can work if you have the right players & Kidd + Felton are both good enough/ smart enought to get it done.
If anything the Knicks are going to be an extremly deep team this year, not only with their bigs but also with their pgs, which was a major problem for them last season

Not necessarily.
Plus, I heard that Felton could possibly be just insurance at PG since Kidd is 39 years old and Lin is injury prone. The Knicks might be focused on fixing that aspect considering how the past two seasons injuries have killed them especially in the post-season.

This! Grunwald is probably providing protection against our post season injury horrors. 3 PG's capable of running and offense and providing solid minutes (especially considering Shump isn't rushing back & wants to be fully healed) is a smart thing to do. Shump may only be able to give spot minutes even once he is back and the Knicks won't rush a thing.

Last season our biggest holes were depth at the 1 & 5, now we are loaded at both whether we re-sign Lin or not. Plus the contract for JR & Felton are potentially some of the best all offseason. People say Camby & Kidd got overpaid, but in this market, they could have made much more.
