I don't know if I could blame him for it. Let's be real, his entire career was under pressure of being hyped as the "next Jordan."

He was fed with hype by the league since draft night.

His first All-Star selection in 1998 was the year he average 15 points on 43% with only 3.1 RPG and 2.5 APG. He also had 2 TO per game. Ridiculous for a shooting guard with 2.5 APG.

Kobe isn't attention whoring, he's adding more chips to his shoulder.

Almost creepy at this stage how much Kobe has patterned himself after Mike, but MJ did THE EXACT same thing. The difference was that when he left the game he was still on top. But these guys have this weird almost neurotic desire to be the best. So if they see something contrary to ("Kobe is the 7th best player in the league") it becomes very, very, verrrry personal for them.

The previous era has ended. It is now Lebron's era. To this day MJ struggles with this. (HoF speech, firing back at Kobe, etc.) I feel like Kobe is a far more normal human being than Mike, but he still is abnormally competitive. Guys like a Tim Duncan can just ride off into the sunset. Kobe can't do that, and it will be very interesting to see what happens as his career winds down.
