What a steal. Jamison is still a good player. 17-6 just last year.

Haha, good signing, especially for the minimum. LA still has the MMLE. I'm hoping they resign Jordan Hill now, or do a S & T and try to get Brandon Rush and then sign Jermaine O'Neal for the min. That would definitely be a successful off season and really strengthen our bench

But Antwan and Jordan Hill should be enough as back up big men, we need three point shooters so Brandon Rush would be a better fit than Jermaine O'neal.

if lakers just want him to be a floor spacing big, and a solid rebounder, he should suffice

anything beyond that and they are gonna be dissapointed

dont let 17ppg fool you, he isnt gonna be able to shore up the lakers bench scoring issues

Neither are on the team so who cares. Just cause he might be better than them doesn't mean we should get him. :oldlol:

Seriously though, the guy just steals money from NBA teams these days.

Jordan Hill will either be resigned or used in a sign and trade.

I'm sure he will help though? we got two really good big men and a 4 that can really space the floor now. Plus, when Nash is out there he should get tons of open looks.

I wonder what is happening on the Brandon Rush/Jordan Hill front.

can we not hype this signing up like we always do, they always turn out to be a scrub.

if you come or traded to the lakers a good player, you turn into a scrub.
if you come or traded to the lakers a scrub, you usually turn into making 5 million.

what i meant by that was, that he wont be able to create scoring, the thing the lakers lacked off of the bench last year. he can hit 3s, he can score in the lane, and he can post up smaller defenders

so apart from the post ups (which were pretty inefficient) he needs somebody to get him good looks for him to score. you cant just hand him the ball, or run plays for him, and expect good things to happen.

if i were brown, i would stagger nash and kobe's minutes, so that at no point is neither of them on the floor. alongside a creator like nash he could be effective, without a proficient playmaker? hes very limited

Jamison is great for scoring 20 points, and barely touching the ball. Very similar to Cedric Ceballos in that way.

i said good player, not great player. dwight is a great. someone like jamison is a good player, just like sessions and look what happened. shannon was a scrub before he got traded here, hill wasn't getting playing time before he was traded.

no shit jamison wont score 17 ppg or anything near it off the bench for us. the lakers dont need him to do that. 10 ppg on good efficiency would be more than enough. the lakers starting 5 is filled with scorers, were just looking for someone who can consistently score off the bench. jamison fits that mold.

Jimmy2k8
07-18-2012, 04:47 PM
Are people really going to expect Jamison to average 17 ppg, 6 rpg? Are we forgetting that Gasol, Kobe, Bynum(until he's traded for Dwight), Metta and Nash are on the roster? 6-8 ppg on 43 percent shooting.

Rush is a RFA so I'm hoping GS doesn't match an MLE offer. Supposedly Hill and Ebanks are being held up for potential Dwight trades.

scoring 17 ppg on 40% shooting on a non play off team with your other top options injured isnt all that great. people need to stop basing all their posts off stat sheets.

07-18-2012, 04:53 PM
He averaged 17 PPG on 16 shots a game on a terrible team. I wouldn't get too excited. That said, he'll be a solid addition, although he's not the player he once was. Jamison has always been a guy who quietly gets numbers. Saw him play this year (my first ever live NBA game) against T-Wolves, at the end of the game, found out he had scored 30 and was like :biggums: Somehow he also averaged a career high in blocks per game at age 35 :biggums:

He was a damn good player some years though...

2001: 25/9/2 on 44/30/72
2006: 21/9/2 on 44/39/73
2007: 20/8/2 on 45/36/74
2008: 21/10/2 on 44/34/76
2009: 22/9/2 on 47/35/75

He'll be an improvement over Troy Murphy, but I'm not sure Jamison does much beyond that.

It's crazy to think just two years ago Murphy and Jamison were supposed to be the missing piece for a title. :lol

his defense was absolutely laughable this year, but ill give him this, hes excellent at swiping the ball loose from the offensive players hands, underneath the basket, but thats because he plays matador defense and is in position to swipe at the ball

with the trade for james johnson and tyreke playing the 3 spot, i hear theyre not resigning him. (money issues/ no mins for him) so if thats true, he'll be a free agent and will probably sign anywhere for cheap. hopefully the lakers had some scouts watching him during his short run with the kings.
