Well, he certainly has some catching up to do. A career 8.6 ppg scorer, 6.0 rpg, .533 FG%, 0.5 apg, and 1.8 bpg player. Those were poor quarters for Chamberlain.

Let's revisit this topic when McGee approaches the STILL 100+ NBA RECORDS that Wilt has. Or maybe when McGee scores 50 points in just ONE game (much less average it over the course of a full season.)

The reality is/was, McGee would have been selling popcorn during NBA games in the early 70's.

I don't ever recall making that claim. The only"Wilt" he inherited was in FT shooting.

R.I.P Nuggets fans.

Meh. Could be worse. Could have just gave that contact to Deandre Jordan.

9\10 it'll turn out to be an ugly contract. Denver is building a team where you can't let go of guy's like McGee. He looked much smarter in his limited burn with the Nuggets. Actually had a game winner where he was patient and let the ball come off the rim. Had two huge games in the playoffs and showed some flashes. Price tag for bigs is ridiculous. If he becomes a 15\9\2 block center I'll be happy. Probably won't but whatever. Rather this than just watching him walk away for nothing. Nothing better out there for Denver, not like we could have picked somebody up like him next year either.

Like the 11m for 4 years rather than the initial 10 mill for 5 years. Extra mill but if he turns out be a reallllllly gross contract you can move it in 3 years when it's an expiring.

There's definitely some Wilt in his movements. It's like he's trying to mimick old-school centers out there. Only problem is, he has about a fifth of their talent and a tenth of their basketball IQ. Could still become one of the best centers in the league with proper development, but I doubt it.

honestly? not a bad deal. with the way bigs have been getting near max or max contracts, i figured mcgee was in line for $50 million. 11 million per year isn't bad at all as long as karl can keep him on the right path

Think before you say something :facepalm

McGee will not choke on game 7s against the likes of Joel Anthony. He will finished those teams in four games scoring 50 at will.

I was being semi-facetious, but in the early 70's, and in a 17 team league, the NBA had starting centers like Cowens, Unseld, Hayes, McAdoo, Thurmond, Lanier, Reed, Bellamy, Kareem, and Chamberlain...ALL in the HOF. Even the likes of Sam Lacey, and Clifford Ray were probably better than what McGee would have brought to the table. And the ABA had Gilmore and Daniels, as well.

Why do people overrate athleticism so much? McGee was the biggest and most athletic player on the court anytime he stepped foot on court in college and he didn't dominate, yet we are supposed to believe that the pro's in the 60s and 70s were so much worse than even collegiate competition that he would somehow dominate? How does that make sense?

With that in mind still think this was a good signing for the Nuggets.

I couldn't disagree more. Jlauber is a quality poster unlike you. Instead of making lame attempts at humor he is one of the few posters that still post her that consistently drops knowledge with each post. ISH needs more posters like him.

It's all redundant, copy and pasted from previous posts that everyone has seen.

If you like reading the same material over and over, that's fine, go to the original post and save his stuff. As for your take on me as a poster, its a shame I can't please everyone, it really is.

I always thought that Mcgee had a decent variety of some pretty quality offensive moves memorized. He just needs to loosen up and get some more fluidity with those moves. When he gets those moves down pat and gets rid of his occasional urge to perform acts of dumbassery, he'll be a pretty quality player with that great wingspan.

Yeah except McGee is almost 6 years younger, get's paid less, and possess way more potential... Oh and he won't miss 15+ games a season due to "injury" like Nene always does. I'll take McGee and this contract over having Nene and his ridiculous deal any day of the week.

Deandre Jordan is like a poor man's McGee. Has the athletic ability + size and can block shots but has nowhere near the offensive ability, which speaks alot more on Jordan than it does McGee :oldlol:
