Link would be nice. Because i don't see a Tweet like that from Amare. I'd like Amare to say 75 games or bust.

It's obviously better for a player to have no confidence, and concede the season in July

swept in the first round 2 seasons ago. lost in 5 last season. i actually like the knicks a lot and have always been an amare fan. its just that with the way the knicks have been playing, they havent given their fans any reason to believe they are championship bound. but i guess you can point the finger at injury and coaching woes. with a happier melo(lin gone), we'll see what the knicks have in store for the nba.

Are you serious? Saying championship or bust is not having confidence, he has no right to say that. Only a very dominant team on paper like Miami can say that. Because they had 3 superstars and had just lost in the finals. How is it a championship or bust when Amare and his friends have problems connecting on the court? How is it championship or bust when they have teams like Miami, OKC, Lakers and potentially Boston/Chicago ahead of them?
And if its bust which it most likely will be since they won't win the championship, are they suppose to throw Amare out now? Trade him? Break everything up?

agreed 100%. that should be the mentality for all professional athletes. its sad to say that the actual mentality these days is "i can only win a championship if i team up with the other superstars in the league!"

And it's not like he just came out of the blue with this announcement. He was asked it during an interview.
If he said "I hope we can just click and be .500 this year" - he'd be labeled a loser.
If he said "No comment" - he'd be labeled an asshole for avoiding the question.
If he said "We will win a ring" - he gets labeled as delusional for even thinking he can win.
Basically he is hated here because he had a down year, plays for a team that no one likes, and there is nothing he can do that will please anyone other than winning.

What was your reaction after Lebron said not 2, not 3, not 4.. not 7, not 8 without even playing a game yet? After he lost in 2011, were the heat supposed to throw Lebron out? trade him? Break everything up?

Hate? Really? Even niko who is a Knicks fan didn't like that comment. Saying that its championship or bust is not the appropriate thing to say at this moment. Sure, he should talk about aiming for the championship and all that good talk but championship or bust is a very strong statement for a team that clearly far away from the championship right now.

Lebron PROMISED rings for Cleveland and 8 for Miami. Amare didn't even promise anything. He said "if we don't win, it's a wasted season". Which is exactly true for every team that does not win.

What he actually said was:
"They(Miami) believe anything less than a championship is a wasted season, and we have to take that same mentality next year. Anything less than a championship is a wasted season".
OP completely butchered his comments, which is not surprising.

Also, if he's referring to Miami than "championship or bust" is EXACTLY what he means since Miami repeatedly said that statement.

Its true though, it doesnt matter whether you believe his team is a contender or not. After all the failed seasons in Phoenix coming so close, and going to New York to team with Melo, he needs a championship, his window is closing. Lets be real how long will Amare last?

I have nothing against him wanting a championship and talking about it but the statement is too strong and not fitting at all. Thats like Clippers, Chicago or any other team saying its championship or bust.
Except for Miami, there are not many teams that can say "championship or bust". Miami could because they had Lebron, Wade and Bosh in the same team and nearly won in their first year. You need to be a very, very clear favorite in order for the phrase "championship or bust" to actually apply. Because if Knicks don't win next year, nobody will say were a disappointment. With Miami though, everything except for a championship was a disappointment.

That's the dumbest shit ever. "Only Lebron should say championship or bust". Should the rest of the league just concede the season? Should no one else try to win because the Heat are the favorite?
Also, he was trying to say "We need to be like the Miami Heat", it's time to play at a higher level. What is wrong with that?

No, its because Lebron was in a dream team with Wade and Bosh that was a very clear favorite. Thats why the "championship or bust" thing applied to them.
If you can't understand the difference between a very clear Miami favorite using it and Knicks using it then I can't really help you.

Well, the Knicks should win around 50 games if they keep up the defensive intensity they had at the end of the most recent season (they were ranked #1 the last 20ish games of the season for D).
On paper, at least, the Knicks are deep, have 3 point shooters, have scorers and have two good defensive centers. What's the problem?!?! They have the best chance in the East of actually beating the Heat. The Nets lack depth, the Celtics best player can't even hit a consistent mid-range shot and the pacers lack a go to scorer.

Talk about an unloyal player (Love).

Jumping on him for having championship aspirations? He can talk about championship, how they aim to win it and all that as much as he wants.. Not dissing his goal to win a championship. But he's in no position to put his team in a "championship or bust" situation.

Exactly.
Personally, the whole "championship or bust" shouldn't be said by anyone. Maybe Miami is the closest thing to it with the players they've got on their team, but the fact was that media made it look like it was a championship or bust situation for Miami when they lost to Dallas. Going into next season, and with OKC, Lakers, Knicks and plenty of other teams getting better.. Not even Miami have the right to say "championship or bust".
