View Full Version : Post your teams depth chart and cap situation

As per title, post your teams depth chart;there is not a huge amount of talent left in free agency so most teams are probably close to being finalised at this stage.

If possible, also state what the cap situation is with each team and whether they have any exceptions etc left...

Still have the mini MLE but Mitch said he doesn't see them using it. Hopefully Ebanks will pick up his qualifying offer so he can play backup SF. Sacre and DJO don't have contracts ATM and they probably won't get them. Goudelock's is non guaranteed?

We need a backup 2.

PF - Luis Scola / Markieff Morris / Hakim Warrick

I don't think Lopez is officially a part of the team still. We need more height and temporary backcourt depth.

Dudley may start over Brown.

Decent bit of cap space left as far as I know. I'm terrible with salaries and such though.

61 mil. in cap space already used for the 2012-13 season, still have a MLE and 9 mil before the luxury tax, but don't think the Jazz will use it unless it's for someone on a 1 year deal.

Supposedly they are looking to split the mid level on two players still. They need another veteran wing. Their best player 2nd on the depth chart? Tinsley should be ahead of Watson on the depth chart which means Watson needs to go before he starts whining about it again or Corbin plays him so he doesn't whine. Bush league! Jefferson to the Rockets for Martin after this Howard crap is over with maybe? Murphy will probably have to make the team. Don't know how much the will save on the Bell buyout still. AK/CJ/Josh could still be sign and trade pieces too. Joshn maybe signed too as the veteran wing?

Money left - MIN and part of the MLE to sign Denmon to a long-term contract if he does well in the pre-season. Nando and Mills will fight for the backup PG spot and i still think the FO is trying to move Blair and then they will probably add another BIG. Hopefully a decent defender that can block some shots.

Robinson / Thompson
Salmons / James Johnson / Greene

Not sure about Outlaw & T.Williams returning? Alot of young talent, but going nowhere IMO, coming from a fan.

Brooklyn Nets:

Lopez / Mohammed (will most likely sign)
Humphries / Evans
Wallace / Teletovic / Bogans
J.Johnson / Brooks / Bogans
D-Will / Watson

Still might sign more, who knows? But hot dang they look good on paper. Probably need another decent big who can score better than Nazr & Reggie, for when Lopez gets injured again.

Why do you doubt that? He was close to an all-star in 2009 for a playoff contender. Isiah was the last pick in the draft for a crappy team. He's only 4 years younger than Brooks. I'd think they'd want a young veteran in their with their young team.

And no cap space until 2015

Wouldn't count on it Knicks will trade expiring contracts for some crappy long term ones. That's their MO.

The beauty of the Heat roster is so many players can play multiple positions. We can go with a hundred different lineups creating so many mismatch opportunities on the court. We dictate what we do to other teams. They have to adjust to us, not the other way around.

ps- I expect the Heat to let go of Pittman (as he's atrocious) and Riley finding a big to replace him on the roster

LeBron - Battier - Jones

Cap Situation - All we have is the veteran's minimum. Don't even have a roster spot to sign anyone else. That's fine, the roster we have is fantastic - while realistically it would be a good idea to let Hamilton develop in the D-League or to cut Pittman, I doubt Riley does either.

SG: Tony Allen - Bayless/Josh Selby/Wayne Ellington/ Wroten
SF: Rudy Gay - Quincy Pondexter
PF: Zach Randolph - Darell Arthur
C: Marc Gasol - Marreese Speights - Hamed Haddadi (unsure if we sign him)

As you can see we have a lot of combo guards so i am very unsure about how the depth at the 2 will shape out

We have a $1.2million trade exception, so If the Dante Cunninghanm for Wayne Ellington trade actually happens, then we are about $3million into the luxury. But considering how our roster has filled out, $3million aint too bad. The FO has said that they did not mind going into the tax. A lot of fans did not think we would be willing to pay it a month ago and figured we were going to have to trade away Gay or Zbo. But the FO's plan was to keep our core of Conley,Gay,Zbo, and Gasol together as we are in winning mode and not trying to take a step back. I do think however that before the trade deadline we will probably work our way back under the tax

When did Memphis grab Jerryd Bayless? And how has Josh Selby been in SL?

they grabbed him after Toronto did not extend the qualifying offer. Snagged him for 2yr/6mill.

As for Josh Selby, he has been an absolute beast. I dont care if it is summer league, but the dude has been absolutely lights out shooting the ball. This is an exert from ESPNs Summer League Bullets from Las Vegas

"MVP! MVP! After receiving a somewhat random vote for Most Improved Player last season, Memphis Grizzlies guard Josh Selby solidified his case for Summer League’s Most Valuable Player. Through three games, Selby is 19-for-25 from 3-point land, averaging a whopping 29 points per game on 60.8 percent shooting from the field".:biggums:

Dude can score the ball. Problem with him last year was he was a rookie with no summer league or training camp bc of the lockout. When logged the minor minutes he did, he was asked to play PG, which he just did not do good at. He is an off gaurd. At 6'2, he will have trouble gaurding other 2s. But his scoring output i think will easily outweigh his D. If Tony Wroten happens to be in, he can gaurd the 2 at 6'5 and Selby could guard the 1. Bayless is 6'3, so my only fear is having both small guys in the back court at the same time. Both Selby and Bayless have a similar game as well. Just gonna see how it turns out

Damn just checked out his SL stats. He's shooting 60% FG but what you didnt mention 73% from downtown. :biggums: Thats insane.

He sounds like the perfect scoring guard off the bench. 6th man, instant offense ala Lou Williams. Lou cant play PG (not good at it), undersized SG. Perfect to come in at either guard spot and light it up. Maybe thats Selby role which isnt bad.
Selby has been unbelievable so far and I love every minute if it. Wroten has looked great as a facilitator but hasn't scored a ton other than the first game, also if he was playing with decent bigs, his assists numbers would be up even more.

Jason Maxiell/Jonas Jerebko/Austin Daye/Charlie Villanueva
Tayshaun Prince/Jonas Jerebko/Corey Maggette/Austin Daye
Rodney Stuckey/Corey Magette/Kim English
Brandon Knight/Will Bynum

Hopefully at some point in the season Drummond will end up being the starter at C, move Monroe to PF. Either way, Monroe will play some PF with Drummond/Kravstov next to him. Jerebko is the 6th Man and will probably play the most minutes off the bench, at both SF and PF. Stuckey will probably play some PG, so Bynum's minutes might not be much.

Ben Wallace hasn't officially signed yet but it's expected he will come back to be a mentor to the bigs and play some spot minutes, but as of right now, there is no room on the roster for him so a move will need to be made to find him a spot.

I believe we are 10 Million over the cap for this season. Maggette, Daye and Bynum's contracts are up after the season, Rip Hamilton's buy out money will be off the books as well and Villanueva will probably be amnestied finally unless he was somehow traded this season (basically impossible, no one wants him). The Pistons will have roughly 30 Million in cap space next offseason with potential extensions for Monroe and Knight that could get done next offseason (not sure what they will do with that, they both have team options that can be picked up to put their extensions on hold until the following offseason).
